So Takeo Spikes is using a pic of mine on his site
34-78-83 replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would agree... The real issue would be if YOU were using his image on a publication and TKO didn't approve of it. -
Look, for the record, I don't think anyone involved here is stupid. I just think that (personal aquaintances aside) broad and bold statements made regarding the career performance of a player should be backed up with more than , well nothing , regardless of one's apparent "status". I have learned things on this board that have changed my view on players just like we all have, and sometimes one's reluctance to accept realities even when based on proveable examples can become a blindfold of sorts to them, or to any clarity they may have missed. Reagardless of the differences felt here, I'm sure there are just as many Bills related topics we all would agree on, and I'm always happy to support any point that I feel has a foundation in fact, no matter who the poster is.
-
1- no, a LT does not have to hold his block longer. That was never agreed on by any but one poster ( and I assume you too). 2- The best OT's are LT's because it's MORE IMPORTANT to have sound protection on the Qb's blindside. 3- No, because the are more often on an island with no TE AND see #2. 4- Each and every GM does not draft LT's first. See also #2 5- Mckinnie is a very good player, but has not necessarily out-performed MW over the course of their careers. 6- Mike has Always been a VERY good run blocker. His Pass blocking technique has improved a great deal this season. 7- I don't recall MW being responsible for 5 sacks this year, and I doubt the Bills do either. 8- Some of them were yes 9- You can blame him for that all you want. I couldn't argue if you did. 10- I agree that he'd make a very good guard in our current scheme.

LOL! you give us what 10 to 20 posts of nothing and you expect us to see your way of thinking? Some of us DID play the game (maybe not on the O-line but..) and are also students of it thankyou. So just what would checking stats on Minny's offense rankings prove about the difficulty of playing tackle, or about a comparison between MW and BM??? Lots of air, no substance.......
-
You just said the same thing yet again. It has nothing to do with stats either. More difficult <> more important. Two different concepts.
-
Thankyou. Any others?
-
What you say is all true eyedog, but from a Coaches point of view, you don't ask your LT to block for a second longer than your RT. Traditionally in a pro set offense the best DE would line up on the LT because the TE almost exclusively lined up on the right side of the offense AND because this was the Qb's blindside. It should be readily apparent that a tackle (either side) blocking for Bledsoe has a tougher task than a tackle (either side) blocking for Culpepper.

Shameless bump for any Pats fan retort..........
-
Soooo.....back on topic. McKinney really got his ass handed to him last night aye?
-
Spicer Did play some LE in our game vs. Jax. He was able to gather a few real good pressures vs. big Mike, and also disrupted some runs. If someone with tunnel vision wanted to use this game as an example of Big Mike's play, they certainly could. Of course it may not be very objective.
-
Sorry that makes zero sense. The Block would need to be sustained the exact same amount of time as the other side in order for the qb to get the ball off. Seeing or not seeing pressure coming has nothing to do with the length of a sustained block. There is zero correleation there.

(OT) My sons game last night is still bugging me.

ICE, I'd say you did the right thing in this situation. It's unfortunate that behavior like that still goes on but it's often more deeply rooted than anything some confrontation between you and the "jedi" would have taken care of. I think the guy's wife being embarrassed about it says all you need to know about what needs to happen.... -
I did not personally attack BADOL, thankyou. I'm sure he is a great guy. I also did not make the statements initially and thus had no need to defend them with facts. Please tell me how in the world a LT has to hold a block for longer than a RT? Are we still running strictly pro sets where the strong side is always on the right in the NFL today ? no. I will never claim to be a TOTAL expert, but when I come out with brash statements about a guy sucking , I'm surely going to back them up with SOME sort of analysis. Especially if I'm going to go on and on with it over a period of months trying to beat a dead horse into a pile of mush.
-
Still the fact remains that there is never any evidence given. I don't slam posters unless I see them brashley coming out with statements (not necessarily opinions mind you) with no backing, something you have also done from time to time. I am not concerned with opinions. I try to stay involved with facts only. Facts are not disputable by opinion. LT's do not have more responsibilities than Rt's. Those days are long over. That is a fact. As stated by others here, they are usually the "better" player because they protect the blind side of the right handed QB. And btw, when a tackle plays against an upper level DE (ie Ellis), he is not required to completely shut him out (ie. 0 tackles, 0 pressures) in order to be considered having a good game against him (ie. "handled him")
-
And the truth comes out. A good portion of the sacks given up by the right side this season and ones that you are mentioning have been the responsibility of the backs and Te's , which was confirmed by MM himself. You are no different than the other "ballwatchers" (to steal a term from AKC ) that critiques a player without any evidence of the scheme at hand that the player was involved in. Even if you arent familiar with blocking schemes, listen closely and the Coaches and players will reveal some of it to you in their reports to the media. The Spicer reference you made was a valid one and came obviously at a point when Mike was playing out of shape and out of practice due to his offseason issue.
-
Evidence such as our right side of our line averaging 4.5 yards per carry or our RT superbly handling the pass rush of the Jets' Ellis in both games this season should NEVER into such a worthy argument Face it, when you make statements and cannot EVER back them up your points will not be taken seriously by anyone else. It's simple really. And when you claim to know what you are talking about re: the play of a particular offensive lineman and cannot even refer to any technique/production element that involves said player, you look like a fool.
-
Ok Mr. Guru grader of offensive linemen, give us your evidence......................................................................... At this point your post is nothing but hot air.
-
Why, because you say so? You are so full of stevestojan here it's not even funny. Maybe once you will back your statements with a smidge of evidence.
-
No way is their D tougher specifically against the run than the Jets. Not even close. And the numbers bare it out. btw..nice avatar
-
But I thought he could do no wrong? Ooops there's a false start to add to his troubles!
-
You nailed it... That is the tried and tested formula used to beat the Pats. It's the same approach the Tennesee Titans were using to win football games 2 and 3 years ago. Run, run, run, play action, and patience.
-
As much as I've been pleased with the progress the Bills have made in the last four weeks, I'm not ready to anoint them road warriors in New England in primetime. Still this game is no "gimme" for either club and the Pats will have to play well to secure victory.... The Pats are obviously a well coached, team oriented, smart group of players who have won big games already and will have the home field. Some edges we may have: 1- The running game with McGahee, if utilized properly with commitment, will serve as a confidence builder as the game wears on and will "call off the dogs" to some degree with the Pats Blitz game. The Pats lb's are smart, big, and tough, but one thing they are NOT is fast. If we can seal the edges Willis should be able to get outside a bit. Running often will also allow for some play action passes, given Bledsoe the extra moment or two he needs. Willis needs to get close to 30 carries again. 2- Our ability to stop the run will atleast serve to some degree to dictate what the Pats call on offense, and give our defense a chance to make drives more diffucult for the balanced Pats offense. 3- Moulds will not have to line up against Ty Law, who is pretty much the only guy who's ever been able to "shut him down". The Bills must create ways to get Moulds out of double coverage situations, and rely on Evans when they can't. 4- Opportunity. The only way this can possibly be looked at by our young team is as their one opportunity this season to show the rest of the NFL that they are a good team, and that they will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future. The Pats have been there, done that, and the moment must be ceized.

Was it Drews Fault? Was it Henrys???

My take: If we can hold Dillon in check (ie 85 yds or less), we can win. If not , forget about it...

Pats an early 9 point favorite over the Bills!

I reluctantly agree with all this.
