Dick Jauron and the QB Situation
34-78-83 replied to smuvtalker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How many times can you talk about this before you respond to my rebuttal in one of the 5 other threads about this? -

I don't believe the Nate discussion can continue to after the season, or atleast they have decided to go that route. Of Course I might be thinking of Briere and the Sabres here so somebody correct me if needed

Holcomb just knocked himself out.

Pyrite, This offense, based on the routes I saw in practice and on the countless clips on the web IS going to focus strongly on attacking down the field. As far as your RAC theory, in my experience, the great RAC Wr's a far more often strong guys who can break tackles than they are slim speedy guys. The Ram offinse that this is all based on is most known for Deep, 15-20 yard In Routes, along with lots of Streaks and Zone buster seam routes from the slot positions. If KH does take the starting role into the season, you can bet that the coaches will be working overtime in order to gear down the routes in the scheme. Otherwise the Receivers that will be most active will be Willis, Shelton, Royal, etc. as opposed to Evans, Price, and Parrish -
DOOMED!!! Marv spotted with clipboard!!!

But he was wrong even so and was trumped by his own beat reporter. He may have had a roster in hand TOO but he was reviewing play cards as mentioned above by LevysEra. Why are they sending the baseball expert to football camp anyway? Also, Bulldog can pretend that he's just a changed man all day long but I won't soon forget that when he was on a different station he carried a fair and objective view of the team and had more passion for the game itself. -
Just joined as the TokinWhiteGuyz. Looking forward to it!

I heard it more like how LevysEra heard it as well. Though I only heard the interview, did not see it....

I was there. Rock, I thought I saw you. What color shirt were you wearing? Most of my view was also from afar, but I got to see it all and made a few observations: - Like many have said already, JP has the arm to fit what I believe will be the approach of this passing game. Holcomb simply does not. Jp is still making just one or two more mistakes than Holcomb, but the risk/reward factor is highly in his favor considering the production of such plays as a 40 yard Td pass to Parish and a 90 ish yard TD play to Evans. Both guys showed good touch on the shorter throws. Jp threw a pick and Holcomb threw a sure pick that was dropped by 52. Jp had the quicker release and Holcomb completed more outlet passes. - Mormon is the best punter in the league (still) - We have like 4 credible explosive return men - Kelsay is going to improve on last year and is a good fit for this relentless approach to D-Line. - Peters will simply not give up the outside edge - The starting O-line looks pretty decent, but the cohesiveness is not there, and the backups are horrible, atleast as a unit. - Rarely did either QB get the full starting 5 blocking for them today. I wonder if they were looking at guys situationally, rather than as a unit which is not as realistic. - Royal runs good routes and catches well. I was unable to focus on him blocking. - Number 30 either makes a great play, or gets horribly beaten. No in between. - Gates is the number 2 back if I had my way. - Evans makes Clements look slow. - Parish has some speed to go with those great quicks - McGahee CAN catch! - Whitner is getting beat but it's real early for him. - Spikes is having some trouble laterally, but the straight ahead speed seems there. He did practice in many of the drills today. - Ko Simpson has a nice break on the ball. - McGee continues to improve. - The Qb's are going to need more time than they are currently getting in the pocket. - Nance can really go up and get it, in addition to already being our tallest player. - Gibson is the single "Wide Load" on this team. They are more fit than most of the recent teams. - The practice tempo is quicker than that utilized by the previous regime.

The part that many of you have wrong is that Posey was a high profile signing. His early years were roughly at 1 million per and he was not brought in to save the defense or make plays all over the field. Once he became a backup, that bargain salary becomes a little too high. He was a decent player with a good attitude that they took a SMALL risk on. Now he doesn't belong in the new scheme.

Here's my Training Camp Report from 8/5/06

Great stuff as always Mike! I'll get my first look this coming monday. Thanks for the effort -
Nice report! Thanks... It goes to show though that opinion on QB play is very subjective. Paul Hamilton was just on the radio air waves saying how Nall (both days) has been just slightly better than awful. He also said that JP overall has been far and away the best QB of the 3, but he's still concerned about how JP does immediately after making a mistake. He seems to let the mistake bug him for too long.

They ARE cool

Some people have been told so many times that a guy "sucks" that they believe it. Others seem to have have a mentality of all players either are great, or they suck without any room for in between (Like Posey)

You could see this one coming as soon as you think back to how well Crowell performed last season combined with our new cover-2 D which suits Crowell's best attributes well.

Things were different when Ralph was a complete tightwad with Salaries, Contracts, spending on Facilities. These issues are normally not part of the equation these days as Ralph has demonstrated numerous times over the past 15+ years . I find no logical correlation between the old era and today. -

Agreed. Covington was going to be a special player. Think London Fletcher... -
Who will suprise the most in camp...

I'll take a stab and say Angelo Crowell will take a stranglehold of the SOLB position. I wouldn't have said this before learning that we would be running the cover two Defense, but I think he's a perfect cover two type player. Great quickness and feels the depth of his zone drops well. Even better IMO would be if he and Spikes switched sides and played it that way. Posey could play on the edge on sure passing downs or just be a real good backup. -
If somebody else that actually has the listed games wants to step up and transfer them to DVD format, edit and burn them and offer them for merely the cost of the DVD's and the shipping , then and only then will this be an issue worth debating with such effort.

As long as the commercials are edited out and things look nice I'm willing to pay a little for the convenience, effort, and the footage I don't have, but at the same time one should certainly respect the approach you take Fezmid. Hopefully there's a way for the principal of this to not remain a wall between the two of you.
