  1. Say what we will about his personality, etc., but he was perhaps the greatest to ever play the position. Certainly the best I’ve ever seen in person and I’ve seen many of the greats at one time or another. He baited so many QBs into throwing into what they thought were vacated areas that many simply gave up trying. Great QBs, too. Never saw a CB single handedly take away a third of the field like that before or since. Granted, I don’t see nearly as many games in person or have access to as much coaches film as before, but I’d like to know who else has been doing that with regularity since Sanders retired. It’s unfortunate that his legacy as a player gets conflated with him being a coach.
  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if Risto ended up staying this season. Word is Granato really likes him as a player. He doesn’t have the greatest hockey sense, but his analytics don’t tell the whole story, either. He’s played top minutes against top opponents with crap support since he came into the league. I don’t offer that as a defense of Risto, but rather as a way of suggesting that Risto in a less pressurized role with a better supporting cast, would have better analytics. He can be a pain in the ass to play against as we’ve seen over the years.
  3. Slowposo is here to stay, I’m afraid. Love his heart and leadership, but he hasn’t been the same since his hospitalization in 2017. He’s also suffered a couple more concussions since then and needs to retire. He’s young and set for life with a beautiful family. Time to simply enjoy that. Looking at the Dmen the Kraken selected today, I have Borgen on the outside looking in on that group; no better than the 7 or 8 Dman. At best, he will see minimum ice time as the extra man. Wouldn’t be surprised if they tried sneaking him thru waivers. Then again, I can see Seattle trading some of the players they took today as well.
  4. “Hail Mary, full of grace…”
  5. It’s all about the journey. Pretty sure that’s what Moses kept telling the Israelites as they wandered the desert.
  6. What was it that Forest Gump said about stupid?
  7. Total accident as I didn’t intentionally mean to respond to your post. I thought it was a stand alone post, not a reply. I can delete it.
  8. Can’t wait until he actually figures out the position.
  9. There’s only one forum member here who knows more about linebackers; indeed, more about all of football than Sean McDermott. We are all so fortunate that he deigns to grace us with his presence in these threads.
  10. I’ll have to wait until our resident expert, he who knows more about football than anyone, chimes in.
  11. Tears, Jauronimo. Tears, I tell ya. Comedy gold! As for the hire, congrats to Granato. He has certainly paid his dues and deserves the shot. Something tells me he just might be the right coach for this team at this particular time in the team’s development curve.
  12. Easy to see why Greg Cosell feels the way he does about JA.
  13. Makes perfect sense to me and I tried pointing that out a while ago in this same thread. Too many people equate being a passer with being a QB, when passing is only part of the job. Allen can literally improve in every other facet of being a QB (things he needs to improve, btw) and see less yards, less TDs, and lower completion % than last season.
  14. Gee, I don’t know fellas. W need to check with @Gene1973 first.
  15. Only those wearing odd numbered jerseys.
  16. I don’t think it’s that, it’s the fact the 5 OL, 2 TE, 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 FB, and 1 QB equals 12 men on offense at the same time. I also don’t think number of skill players matters. You could put 11 skill players out there as long as you have at least seven on the LOS and any needing to report to the ref report to the ref.
  17. Well, let’s hope for the best. The hardest aspect of Beasley’s game to replace is his recognition. He reads defenses as well as anyone I’ve seen and that’s a big reason he and Josh are on the same page so often. I just think that will take time for the less experienced WRs to develop, which stands to reason.
  18. I think that’s strictly a function of Humphrey being their best slot corner, regardless. As you know, even the best of boundary corners often don’t play the slot as effectively.
  19. Not having Beasley hurts this offense. He and Allen have spent the last two years developing the chemistry we see on the field and that will take time to develop with another player and I’m not sure the improvised aspects of his game with Allen can be duplicated given the nine seasons of experience that informs it. Beasley sitting out would really be sticking it to the team, at least in the short term. But if that’s what he decides, then good riddance. I hope that’s the case, but he’s boxed himself in with his hard stance on the matter. Does he like winning championships more than he likes sticking to his publicly proclaimed principles? Let’s hope he’s changed his mind come training camp. A lot can happen between now and then.
