The bottom line is- Beane is in control of how he wants to allocate his cap as well as how much cap he wants to kick down the road in order to win now. We could’ve paid Jerry 4M a year. We didn’t have to keep Matakavich. He chose a ST player over a proven pass rusher. He chose not to restructure some contracts in order to make the room. I 💯 understand his his decision not to bring him back. He invested 2nd rd picks in Basham and epenesa and Jerry being here would keep them on the bench. He’s hoping that they flourish with more snaps. he also didn’t want to kick more cap down the road. i just think he would’ve thrived opposite von and Rousseau. This would’ve been the first opportunity to rush opposite a legit bookend since Mario left. Rousseau was just a baby last year. Seems to me he was always a split second late to the qb partly because the QB only had to worry about him. I’d take Jerry over Matakavich every day of the week.

Primetime Thursday night game Vs maybe the best OL in the league. 2 more sacks for Jerry- 7 on the season. 1 sack behind Parsons. 1.5 sack behind Bosa. 1 more sack than Von Miller. Yeah…..he’s toast alright. Boogie Basham and Aj are better. 🤣 Suuuure.

I realize this. Doesn’t change my point. Definitely. No game plan is surefire. Including Beanes. Lots of variables. I like that Beane is building to take advantage of that fact. He’s trying to give us the best shot at winning this year but not at the expense of taking us out of the running for entire seasons at a time. If we’re a top 5 team in each of the next 10 years, I think we’ll win a super bowl or more. but we have Josh Allen. Miami doesn’t. When you don’t have a Qb that can carry you, the game plan should be different than of ours imo.

He looked really good this past week, albeit vs a terrible lions D. He seems to be improving. Will he be able to stay healthy is my biggest questions surrounding whether or not they should pay him.

For sure. The rams have been blowing their wad since the 2016 draft and won a super bowl in 2021 (2022). It caught up to them prior to their SB season and then again this year, but they’ve been to 2 Super Bowls and won 1. Like I’ve said (and we all know), there are several paths to building a champion. The path the dolphins are taking has been travelled before and has Lombardis to show for it. They have an extremely talented roster. Time will tell if the FO is capable of maintaining it….. or capable of winning a super bowl. The team doesn’t even know if they 💯 have a stud franchise QB and they’re contenders (imo). Not sure why anyone would frown on what they’ve done other than because they’re scared of them. The team has been basically nonexistent for decades. They aren’t anymore

I disagree. You’re talking about how he has fared when teams, other than the Bills, blitz. I’m talking about Wilson vs OUR defense. Our defense is different. He’ll be under pressure in 1.5 seconds and he’ll have that amount of time to decide which target is the least covered and hit him with accuracy because we’ll have 7 defenders in coverage.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing- it’s possible to kick some money down the road while still leaving a little meat on the bone for future seasons. That’s what Beane has been doing so far. We’ll definitely be kicking some money down the line in the coming years. He has to pick his spots and has done a dam good job at it to date imo.

Tua will play the next 2 years under his rookie contract. His big contract will kick in 2025. Hill, Howard and Chubb will have dead cap hit over 10m. Those are the only substantial contracts. some teams want to win now. Whether or not they are good enough to win the SB is unknown, but they have what looks to be a dangerous team for the next 2 years minimum. They’re confidant and I don’t a problem with what they’re doing. They’re putting Miami back on the nfl map after not winning a playoff game for 20+ years. there’s several ways to build a champion. I think they’ve done a helluva job to date. It may catch up to them. It may also pay off
