Pay Cook. He's one of our players who shows up and makes plays when the games are biggest (except when he's standing there on the freaking sideline holding his helmet when we need a drive in the AFC Title Game, but I digress...) That's a skill you can't put a price tag on. The guy is excellent at what he does and is one of our few reliable offensive weapons. Remember that Cook took a few seasons to really develop. We don't want to start over right now at RB. This team needs some urgency.

Let's be honest, Josh probably has 5 good seasons left
TheFunPolice replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm going to be 100%, totally, completely, and (honestly) a little uncomfortably honest with you. Guys like Brady and Manning skewed fans ideas of how long QBs can play. Manning only retired because his neck gave out. Brady only retired because his body started to give out and he barely made it through his last season. The guy looked like he weighed 150 pounds by the end. He knew he was done. But both of those guys were football, football, football almost at all costs. Not everyone is wired that way, nor is it realistic. For every Brady there are going to be a bunch of guys who made bank and want to retire somewhat earlier in order to minimize long term pain and maximize long term health while enjoying time with family. Hard to say where Josh will be on that in the future with a wife and (possibly) a family. That said, I think we have 7 excellent "Josh Allen experience seasons" left, which admittedly isn't a lot of swings at the prize. He'll turn 29 this May. 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 Once he hits his 35 or 36 year old season he'll still be good, but some of the dynamic play we've seen and crazy athleticism just won't be the same. He'll still be great for 3-4 more seasons, IMO, but he'll look different out there than he does now 36 37 38 So that brings us to 10 seasons of top QB level play, with 7 more elite level seasons. All of this is also dependent on how long he wants to play and avoiding major injuries. Josh does have excellent skills as a passer, so he doesn't rely as much on pure athleticism. But there are no guarantees. Cam Newton was an incredible player and almost overnight it was gone due to injury that he just never recovered from. This team has to seize opportunity while it's there. -
Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
TheFunPolice replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
The wind is the worst part of cold weather, so blocking most of it will make such a difference in terms of comfort level Some of those seats tucked up under the canopy are going to be super cozy regardless of weather. You'll be dry and out of the wind -
Rodgers givin’ the boot from the Jets

Cowboys are tanking 2025 to draft Manning officially of course they believe in their new HC and are making a push for the SB! -
Good lord can you imagine Beane drafting Maybin? Beane on draft night: "he has some great physical tools and a great attitude, everything you want... we just need him to slim down some..." Maybin would have weighed 190 pounds on this Bills team

Steelers approach Jags about a Trevor Lawrence Trade
TheFunPolice replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is such a weird story to blow up if it never happened. I think it did happen, but both sides want it to go away because Jacksonville's HC just responded by saying "Duuuuuuuvalllll!" with that clown like smile. Jacksonville wants all 12 of their fans to settle down and renew season tickets, and the Steelers don't want it out there that they tried to trade for a QB in case they are stuck with Russ. Plus then whatever the Steelers do at QB wasn't their first choice. -
McDermott gets Allen's entire career. And he's certainly good enough to win a SB. Plenty of "meh" head coaches have gotten one because of either an all time great QB or a great team performance in that game. Just have to get there. Every year that goes by it'll be "golly, he's won so many games here... the drought... the Sabres " And if (God forbid) injuries lead to a bad record? Well, come on, the guy deserves a mulligan! Thus, he gets Allen's entire career here. It just is what it is. I just hope he changes his defensive philosophy because it doesn't work against good QBs. I don't think that's crazy, because he has shown an ability to adapt.

Shakir, Benford, Cook and Bernard: Who Gets a Contract Extension?
TheFunPolice replied to NoName's topic in The Stadium Wall
At those rates, pay Shakir, Cook, and Bernard. Benford is good but not worth that much $$ I want to pay guys that make plays. Shakir always makes plays. Cook always makes plays. So pay them. -
The Bengals matter because of Burrow. And they had to sell naming rights to pay for his contract. IMO the owner is awful, the facilities are a running joke, and when I think of the Bengals headquarters I picture wood paneling, lots of brown, orange and yellow colors, cigarette smoke slowly filling the air while guys drink 3 hour old coffee with powdered creamer and eat gas station lunch sandwiches that they were able to get for free just before they were thrown away for the day. All that said, THAT team made it to a Super Bowl. All because of Burrow. But I foresee some nastiness in the relationship in the future once guys start walking out the door to preserve the "bottom line."

Rodgers givin’ the boot from the Jets
TheFunPolice replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
a year or two on the Jets is the price you pay if you want to force yourself off the Packers roster. -
everyone wants to dog Tomlin but he got to 2 Super Bowls and won 1 with a HOF QB. Compare that to getting to 2 AFC Title Games and winning zero with a future HOF QB.

It's one thing to know it's going to happen, but seeing it in print just hits different -
Travis Kelce uncertain of future. Mulling retirement
TheFunPolice replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mahomes had the chance to catch Brady but blew it in the Tampa SB. If KC won that won the ring race would be 6-4 in favor of Brady right now, with Mahomes only being 29. Interestingly, Brady had only won 3 Super Bowls when he was 37. -
Kurt Warner's analysis of the Super Bowl
TheFunPolice replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
IMO the issue is the Chiefs aren't used to adversity. Same thing happened in the Tampa Super Bowl. As lopsided as that game became, early on Mahomes was under tremendous pressure, but when he did make throws then guys dropped the ball or didn't make a play when there were opportunities. Suddenly instead of 1st and 10 they're punting and it snowballs. When your offense is only getting 3 plays a drive you aren't going to get anything done and the DL is going to eat. WR and TW need to make the catch when the QB gets it out but that didn't happen in either SB loss for them. In the Tampa SB you had the play where Mahomes was horizontal in mid air, throwing a perfect pass into the endzone for what should have been a TD and the WR dropped it. That's what happens when you really pressure KC. They crumble under it (IMO) because they are not accustomed to needing to battle to move the ball. The other issue is that THAT was their chance and they didn't convert. They get tight. Once the Philly game was over they all of a sudden start throwing it deep, whereas Mahomes passed up the deep throws when they were possible when it still a game. -
Travis Kelce uncertain of future. Mulling retirement

he looks ancient out there now... He's done whether he retires or not. Can't play our defense every week. -
sadly that's an issue

Is Nick Siriani, the second best coach in the NFL currently.
TheFunPolice replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would need to see some longevity. Getting to 2 Super Bowls in such a short span is pretty impressive, though. IMO it's as much or more about the fact that the Eagles are a Pro Bowl roster on both sides of the ball with excellent coordinators. -
If Siriani can get to 2 and win one McDermott can too. I think it's as much about the Eagles roster and fantastic coordinators as anything Siriani does. Load up the roster and McDermott can certainly get it done.

Rodgers to the Steelers makes a lot of sense. Titans or Raiders? Why even bother. He would be better off going to an NFC South team where you can win 6 games and still win the division.

The next Chief milestone, the 90-93 Bills
TheFunPolice replied to Coastie's topic in The Stadium Wall
After last night I don't think it's crazy that Allen and Mahomes end up with the same # of rings by the time they retire. Mahomes isn't getting to 7. Sorry Chiefs fans. He might get 1 or 2 more over the next 10-12 seasons. But Lamar, Josh and Burrow will have something to say about him continuing to play in the SB.
