Bump, just for the hell of it. Note this was posted on August 18.

You raise a great point. I really like Staley and think he’s an up-and-comer, but he has been getting praise heaped upon him for being so aggressive, and a good part of that is likely the kicking situation you reference. I agree, it could come back to bite them.

This will be the first Sunday this season I'll really be able to just kick back with the Red Zone channel on and enjoy the afternoon. I think I'm pulling for the Ravens for reasons stated above...they are the more banged up team and I think they'll get dinged a few times going forward...they still have yet to play a division game and none of those AFCN teams are an easy out. The AFCW suddenly looks much weaker than it did even two weeks ago...the Chargers have a couple of tough games left but they are a legitimate threat to only lose one or two more games themselves. Best to have them absorb L #2 this weekend.

Just looked at the lines...the Chargers/Ravens and Cards/Browns are both essentially pick'ems. Both home teams are -3. Should be a fun Sunday, leading up to our party on Monday night.

Wow, there are two really compelling matchups this week, and a third to keep an eye on: Chargers at Ravens: Who do we root for as Bills fans? Cardinals at Browns: Certainly we want the Cards to continue their streak here Combined records of those four teams: 16-4 Cowboys at Pats***: Would love to see Dallas drop them to 2-4 Also, the Fish are only a 3-pt favorite over the Jags in London…Jacksonville may be in full mutiny mode, but it would be hilarious to see them break their skid against Miami. Discuss…

Beane needs to be very careful about upsetting the chemistry of that room. I think any proposed trade would have to blow him out of the water to mess with what is happening right now. I doubt the Bills’ FO agrees with most fans regarding what they “need” at this point.

As bad as the game started, the Bills actually answered that gaffe and drove down the field for a TD to tie it at 7. Then it got ugly as the D couldn’t get stops. Whole new ballgame this season. 6 different starters from that D a year ago. No Covid and scheduling bs. It wouldn’t surprise me to see last year’s final score reversed.

The biggest “problem” as I see it is that often you don’t know who is legitimately presenting an opinion and analysis, and who is simply trying to stoke the fire of controversy to get “clicks.” If you pay attention long enough you figure it out, which is why I actually like GMFB. They are having fun and while yes, they are also focused on their social media, I don’t get the impression they are just trying to make people mad for a reaction. I despise guys like Stephen A. Smith but in a way I have to admire him. He has embraced a role that is completely void of true insight and reason to become the highest paid sports broadcaster around. It’s nuts. The good ones are there if you look hard enough.

The official “passer rating” stat is, in my opinion, obsolete. It rewards statistical categories that taken by themselves can give the impression a QB played well and was instrumental in his team’s performance. It is often misleading. And in today’s pass-happy NFL almost every QB can post a gaudy rating. I guess I would say this: if a QB has a poor traditional rating then he probably sucks, but nobody needs that rating to see it. If a QB has a very good rating (90+), however, it’s not necessarily indicative of a top-tier QB. I don’t know enough about ESPN’s QBR but at least they are trying to incorporate how a QB’s play really impacts the game.

Josh Allen's sack rate this season - 2.7 percent

RJ had such poor pocket presence he never even knew whether or not he was carrying his wallet. -
Rich Eisen said it very well. How does a grown man sit down at a computer, type the words “f-a-g-g-o-t” and “queers” in an email to an NFL executive, and then hit “send?” Gruden deserves every bit of backlash, embarrassment, humiliation, you name it. There is no place in society — and particularly not as the face of an NFL franchise — for this sort of ignorance.

What a great read. To be able to flip a switch like that four games in…wow. And it certainly bodes well for the Bills being able to adjust in-game as well.

Definitely not the same old Ravens D, though...that's where they are vulnerable.

Who "hates" Lamar? A couple of us have fun calling him Lamont (which I will now stop), but other than that what has anyone done aside from point out what every other analyst has pointed out...namely, that he has not shown development in his passing ability that can offset teams scheming to stop the run. He took a huge step towards changing the narrative with that 2nd half last night. If "Bills fans" (since you want to lump everyone together) feel any particular bias against Lamar, it's probably because for the better part of two seasons Lamar got all of the publicity while Josh was routinely trashed, and I think most of us believe Josh is the better overall QB. Get over yourself, man. Of all people to talk about "hate" -- I think you might hate yourself, actually.

I’m still trying to figure out who Dawkins held on that running play after we recovered the muffed kickoff.

Buffalo Bills break NFL record halftime leads
eball replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you look back somewhere in the archives of this forum you’ll see a post I made prior to the 2019 season in which I pretty much nailed the trajectory of this team. I predicted 10-6 and playoffs in 2019, at least 12 wins and a division championship in 2020, and the beginning of world domination in 2021. Pretty spot on. -
Last year: Josh dinged up. Defense without at least a couple of starters. Covid scheduling nonsense. This year: Bills firing on all cylinders. Highest ranked scoring O and D in the league. The Oilers are banged up. They lost to the JETS. Their stadium will be filled with Bills fans. The Bills are now the big bad monster.

I wish I could say anything about that message board was "hilarious" but I can't. It's a cesspool. Those are disturbed human beings.

I rarely focus on OL play during my first (live) watch of a Bills game unless it's a replay of somebody getting beat for a sack, so I didn't really pay attention to Spencer Brown. How'd he do? Also, can anyone tell me how Cody Ford played? I mean, you know McD and Beane put him back into the lineup because he's a 2nd round pick...right?
