The annual QB tier rankings from The Athletic
eball replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sorry, Burrow doesn’t hold a candle to Mahomes and Allen. -
@Gugny approves of this message!

Rest in peace, is it half of TBD or the 2025 Buffalo Bills?
eball replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
If there are any "realists" out there who expected to see what the 2025 Bills' regular season defense is going to look like in the preseason, I've got some really great investments I'd like to talk to you about. -
When I look at Sean McDermott I see a guy who cares passionately about his job, has fully embraced WNY and Buffalo, respects and honors the responsibility he has been given, and works tirelessly to change and improve himself along the way. Aside from a b.s. hack job by a reporter the season after "13 seconds," there has been absolutely no evidence that players don't believe he is putting them in the best position to thrive and become the "best versions of themselves." There is also no evidence that the Bills will suddenly fall off a cliff and cease to be one of the elite teams in the NFL. I was frustrated with McDermott a couple of seasons ago when I feared perhaps he was "losing the room" but my fears were quickly assuaged once I heard the way players talk about him. It is inconceivable to me that anyone believes McD will ever be on a "hot seat" in Buffalo if he continues doing what he has been doing.

That's what I call really going above and beyond. Are they still out there on the field?
-
Any veteran QB taking a chance and "running up the middle" in a preseason game is an idiot.
-
I haven’t watched the game yet, but something is amiss. Gunner says “ugh, that was rough” for Hoecht’s play but now multiple reputable podcasts (Marino, Cover1) are calling his night outstanding. ???
-
Maybe I’m naive, but it feels odd to me to complain about 3rd down defense when there is no scheming going on. They are literally just playing a base defense to watch what guys do.
-
Whoa, lets pump the brakes just a bit there, partner…

Spencer Brown is a character. Apparently he was put on a “pitch count” for live reps yesterday but when Beach Chairs asked him to come off he shot him the bird and stayed out for about ten more. 🤣 He also said the back is a non issue; he tweaked it doing a different exercise so he knows not to do that one any more.
-
Agree. I’ll always appreciate ‘stro, but he’s read his own press clippings and is becoming a bit of a caricature.

Watched it again today. Great stuff. Brady is a funny guy, and I enjoy hearing the “real” language. Can’t wait for next week! This is exactly right. Usually the team highlighted is a s-h-i-t-show. They’re probably amazed at how smoothly things go here. The Cook thing will give them a little juice for next week, but even that isn’t particularly dramatic.

What, three years ago? Dude.

If the wind is as confused as I am you won’t feel a thing on the field!
-
LOL. Ok. Believe me, the players prefer less wind.
-
I’m now confused. Are you saying you want a windy stadium?
-
Where did you expect him to be? He’s not overtaking Kincaid or Knox, and they just drafted the best blocking TE in football in Hawes.
-
In general you are correct, but wind is the condition that I think does make a difference because windy conditions add too much variability to passes and kicks. Remove the wind, you remove that variability, which means the better team (QB) should prevail. That benefits Buffalo as long as Allen is at the helm.

Tua, and the Fish in general, have been fantastic against the also-rans of the NFL. The knock on Tua is his durability as well as his (to this point) inability to put a team on his back and win the tough games. It seems as though teams with well-coached defenses take away what Tua does best, and he struggles to compensate. I don’t personally “hate on” Tua — I’m actually concerned for his long-term health and would have advised him to retire after the last round of concussions. I think he’s a good dude and a very good QB — but not elite.

I don’t even think Shakir’s injury is worrisome. He doesn’t need practice leading up to the Ravens game, and if he misses that one, so be it. Everyone else except Hairston is on track to be available in week one, and Hairston wasn’t going to be starting anyway. If you’re really “worried” about the injuries I have a suggestion…shut down your media outlets for the next three weeks and tune in the Wednesday before the first game, when you can read the injury report and breathe a sigh of relief.

It's in another thread but Kyren Williams just got a 3 year, 33M extension. That's a very good comp for Cook. Edit: just saw it above I agree this is a big piece that may help Beane get it done.

Rams extend RB Kyren Williams - 3-year, $33 million

Similar stats...if the Bills could reach agreement with Cook at 11M per season I don't think any of us would be too upset.- 192 replies

Agree. I won’t buy one because I have too many facking Bills hats already (the Buffalo Potato hats arrived this week) but those will be keepers down the road.
