Potential Kareem Hunt Interest
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah - 3rd might still turn people off on making a multi-year commitment for him. The question is - is he better than a 3rd round pick by the approximately 10 million dollars it'd cost to secure him (Singletary was 4yr at about 4 mil total, hunt would be looking at 3 years 15 mil total and more guaranteed than the 4). I personally don't think moving a 3rd to pay a player a lot more than that slot is smart. If it were a 5th or 6th? Now its of a much greater likelihood that he is better than the player, so it makes more sense. -
His outside the numbers velocity and accuracy isn't very good. He also tends to miss high... but they have 2 huge TEs with great hands so it works - just attack the middle, and the boundary throws should be easy. The rest of the offense is mostly verticals off of play action. Kaepernick had a great arm but he couldn't get the feel and timing down. He wasn't the same type of athlete as LJ either.

They can't move johnson, and you can't justify paying drake anything because now you have tied up way too much cap in running backs. 3 pro bowl o-lineman, a pro bowl FB, and a pro-bowl TE = running lanes for their backs. Having a QB who's faster than most of the league, and jukes like McCoy doesn't hurt either. Running read option adds like an extra blocker that you have to take very seriously because he's the most dynamic player on the field. They also generally run the ball well in standard formations because they have really quality blocking - thus setting up play action to take shots. Their power running just keeps gashing you for little chunks and keeps them in 3rd/4th and very makeable situations. Stack up 1st downs and score TDs. You'll beat anyone doing all that. I think as the league has become more and more about passing - defenses have been more built on speed. They're built more around power at the LOS. I do think Roman may have outsmarted himself in the playoff game too. 4th and 1 from your own 45 in the 1st quarter? Then a panic drive down 14-0 right after? Another bad play call on 4th and 1... Forced into a passing game that LJ won't win.

My Off-Season Primer: Position Group Specialists
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. The free agents arent good, and the draft guys all look to have significantly better legs than Bojo. If you draft one - you're committed to upgrading the position. If you don't, you have a somewhat desirable destination for UDFA. The only issue is - punting in buffalo sucks. I say drop one of the ones after 150 on any of those 3. Watching Kern legit pin the patriots back again and again was a thing of beauty. -
Rivers - gross Mariota - Maybe the bears with Trubiskey? Green - Makes sense to maximize what you have in front of a rookie. They're not a free agent destination because of ownership, and they don't need cap space. Can make the 17+ million in a second by cut/trading dalton too. Henry - Pass. Too much for a back. He does have an impressive size/speed combo - but his limitations in a passing attack make him a bit of a niche player. Needs to be in a heavy play action team who doesn't throw the ball to their backs very often. He's currently on that team, so i kind of assume he'll stay. Gordon - Is he even good? 10 mil a year? yuck.

One thing i will say is - its becoming important to be able to stop the run. Clowney is a really good run defender at DE. But now its basically at legit every spot on defense. It's a passing league sure, but its almost comical how much more teams are running in the playoffs this year. It reminds me of hockey - this super fast finesse game during the regular season.. then refs don't call any penalties so it becomes a much more physical game in the playoffs. I think part of it is the analytics piece (a pass play is more likely to net more yards than a run play) almost gets thrown out because it's just a single game. You are gameplanning a single match-up etc.

Off-season: Expected and Surprise Cuts
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The owner already paid the dead money... one would think they would want to see some ROI for money spent. -
And AB was a much better player. AB was 4 time 1st team all-pro, and 7 time pro bowler (led the league in TDs in 2018 and didn't get 1st team all-pro, so probably almost 5 time). ODB has 0 all-pros, 3 pro bowls and none since 2016, Missed time with injuries, and hasn't been very good the last 2 years. If only ODB was as good in real life as he is in his mind.

Off-season: Expected and Surprise Cuts

If he costs 10 to play, and 8 to cut. You would need to ideally use the savings to improve the position. If you don't do that... you shouldn't cut him. -

2 years for an ACL is a bit strange too - maybe some kind of infection slowed his rehab? I'm sure he probably could've played this year but its easier for the team to IR a guy at a position where you only carry like 3 guys. You only can take 2 back from IR too, and coleman/mostert/breida trifecta with Juscuzkyk is about as good a group as you can get. -
AB seems like he is a narcissist who has surrounded himself with people who puff him up. He's a great football player, but he's been propped up in his mind that he's some larger than life persona. And like no one agrees. I don't know that its CTE, so much as narcissism going fully unchecked and untreated.

Any thoughts on Mckinnon? He's a guaranteed cut... because of his contract. I'm leery of the injury history, but i doubt it would cost much to bring him in. I always found him to be pretty quick and dynamic, fast with a do all style as well. -
Josh Allen vs. Russel Wilson Year 2
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to warrior9's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah - the YPA, NY/A, ANY/A numbers are where the biggest improvement needs to come. More completions, more attempts, fewer yards. Completion % will bring those numbers up, as will hitting some of the deep ones. -
What position does Beane prioritize in FA?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you're the bengals AJ green is exactly the guy you keep if you draft burrow. Assuming some of their offensive linemen don't get injured this time around. -
My Off-Season Primer: Position Group - DE

He played about 66% of snaps this year for them (inlcuding missing an entire game). Murphy and Hughes both played about 63-65% of snaps with lawson at about 45%. So his snaps probably decrease in a role here. -

Yes - Liuget will be significantly cheaper than phillips. I liked him though - seemed to make plays. Big strong butt ? -

I do think pass rushers tend to age fairly well? There are examples of guys playing well into their 30s. Especially as a rotational pass rusher. -
My thing - everyone is tough on their phone. And yes - this guy was running his mouth. I would never comfortably insult people like this guy, and he's like a (relatively) public figure. He also has an incredibly thin skin to just let people get to him with insults - DMing strangers and reporting them? I thought you were a tough baltimore guy! You can apologize, or you can literally do nothing and it will go away. Instead he kept provoking people, and then baltimore lost which just resulted in even MORE confrontations. Just spiraled out of control. Either way - flying to baltimore to fight him is crazy. Don't do that.
