AFC East Will Be Not A Given
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Ross Murdock's topic in The Stadium Wall
Neither played the entire game - no excuses for 450+ and 6 TDs though. Baltimore's inability to run the ball in this game is what cost them. Baltimore was like 1 or 2 first downs away from the dolphins having no time to score at the end. 16 RB carries for 36 yards, and 5 rushes for -1 yards in the 4th quarter. Under 4 and they had 1st down in miami territory and they gained 1 yard on 3 plays and needed to cut time out of there. Settling for 3 and the lead is fine - but you needed to take more time off that clock. -

2018 - 2-4 (charles clay makes a catch and its 3-3) 2019 - 3-3 (Jets was a meaningless finale) 2020 - 6-0 2021 - 5-1 7-1 against miami with Josh, the defense doesn't appear to have been upgraded much and buffalo outscored them 61-11 last season. -

Was like a big 12 game. Wide open WRs left and right. -

I think buffalo should be able to take care of business with Miami. They don't seem to have fixed their issues with running the ball- buffalo is rarely caught out of position/beat deep, and they usually tackle fairly well. They've had problems with Hill before but they're looking for front 4 pressure. Their defense doesn't seem very intimidating to me. -
Same way they normally do - pressure leading to bad throws/sacks/turnovers. Everything on the back end is a combo of zone/man-match and challenging the catch point.

They ended up using the 3rd... and hteir own 3rd... to trade up in the 1st for a guard. Trading up for a guard is a strange strategy, especially when he hasn't looked to be a particularly good guard yet. Wilson will probably be solid though. Seattle got a corner in the 4th as well.

Josh vs. Herbert and Mahomes…

Yea after the pick it looked like Everett was about to collapse. -
If you spend all your defensive scheme taking out a tight end then the rest of your defensive shape falls apart.

The first in 2021 was Alijah Vera-Tucker. They used the extra 3rd rounder (Plus their own 3rd rounder) to move up for him. A lot to give up for a guard and he doesn't seem to be a very good guard at that. Vikings drafted Darrisaw, Mond (who they released), and Wyatt Davis (who they released). New regime clearly didn't see 3rd round value in those guys. Obviously Garrett Wilson is a rookie so who knows. He's both fast and quick, but needs refinement (what rookie WR doesn't). He should be the one to provide the Jets a "win" on this trade. Adams is who everyone thought - a primarily box safety who can tackle well but gets beat in coverage and doesn't have very good coverage instincts. They used him a bit as a blitzer to some success. **WILDCARD** The 4th rounder that the Seahawks got was Coby Bryant, and he appears to be a good fit for that defense and probably starts for them next year. To me it would be hilarious and ironic if the throw in pick became the best player in the entire deal so that's what I'm rooting for 🙂

Shakir Should Not Be Inactive
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dunno, is Kumerow really so bad that we need to worry about who's active and inactive? People will get banged up. Crowder has appeared in 12 or fewer games over the last 4 seasons - and he's another year older. He's pulled his calf or groin (which he pulled in camp btw) basically every year for the last few. If Shakir isn't active much this year? Good news, we had a clean bill of health at WR and he'll be ready to contribute. -

I really feel like the only reason Moss got as many snaps as he did, was because of Cook's fumble. -
First impression: James Cook
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
The athletic had a nice piece about his first carry - he cut up field when he should have followed blocks outside. He basically ran into traffic and fumbled. The amount of outside carries in that game made it seem like it was a focus for them to avoid donald by using tosses and off tackle stuff. Cook is probably the best back suited to that, but we saw moss getting those touches even though its not his strong suit. -

We dressed 4 backs in this one - plus gilliam is a fullback. Draft and preseason or not - the coaching staff feels more comfortable with the vet off the bench for whatever reason. Special teams plays a part, but he's also a big strong dude who has pretty good hands and a plus blocker at the position. There's actually situations where that size can play a part without injuries, while shakir's skills overlap with mckenzie and crowder. -

It's a single game though - its never ideal when someone is out for a game. Kumerow is not some entirely incapable player just because he plays special teams. -
Well - hes a free agent next year. Arizona.. Los Angeles.. they could both probably use a veteran back next year 🙂 I have him in fantasy and my friend just traded for him in another league. He sent me that video and i immediately said "We are f**ked"

He is a bigger corner, good tackler - and speed is probably the biggest thing that will hinder him at corner. -
8 penalties, 4 fumbles, missed tackles. A lot of the same crap Denver had in this game. There's talent there. The offensive line is not inherently bad. But when every snap comes up at 1, they jump that snap count. The pre-snap motion reminded me of Roman. It's there, but it really never amounts to anything - and you never have enough time to even do it.
-
2 minutes left - you get the 1st and 10 on your side of the field. Either hurry up, or call timeout to call a couple of plays. Instead they ran like 30 seconds off the clock, seattle jumped the snap count for the like 40th time in the game, and they lost 4 yards. The next play was a quick pass incompletion, and the 3rd and 14 play was a swing pass behind the LOS. 4th and 5 with a minute left from the +46? Terrible clock management. Terrible use of timeouts. Terrible play calling. Big Ben had a couple of nice throws in that game. I think over the course of a season his arm would get worse.

At the time of the trade it was not determined who buffalo would get at WR. So people saying "you could have had jefferson" - at the time they did not know who would be available at that pick. Ruggs Jeudy and Lamb were all possible top 10 picks and all fell out of the top 10. Reagor went above Jefferson which was surprising, and then you also had Aiyuk go in the 1st. Pre trade most draft pundits had us getting Higgins, Aiyuk, or maybe Jefferson.

Rob Johnson had comically bad sack percentage numbers. 80 sacks across 2 seasons with a Bills career sack % of 14.2%. And for era adjustment... its still worst in the league. It's on par with the 2 seasons where David Carr was sacked 68 and 76 times.

Brady was getting beat up quite a bit in that one which I'm sure is frustrating. I stayed away from with the colts in survivor pool because i hate division matchups not involving the Jets. I also avoided the bears with poor weather.
-
Was that the roughest W1 for survivor pools ever?

I went with Ravens - The Jets just seem terrible in every facet. -
Seriously. Dak was terrible in this game, that is a no doubt fact. The Oline no longer seems like a strength, and they were overmatched at WR all game. Noah Brown looked like their best WR... which is a problem. Not sure why Lamb had such a poor game. Their defense and run game are going to have to carry the load for a bit and I just don't see it. For them to sniff the playoffs they'd need to win their winnable games without Dak. Cin - L NYG - Winnable Wash - Winnable LAR - L Philly - L Detroit - Winnable Chicago - Winnable

Did Diggs get nicked? (my speculation only)
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
He seemed to come off the field almost every time he made a big play - obviously the TD but the first down, some over hte middle stuff the next play he'd be on the sidelines for whatever reason.
