OT: Belichick says that Mac's improvement is "dramatic"
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm sure he's pretty similar to how he was last year - I'm not sure why they haven't really surrounded him with playmakers while hes on his rookie deal. They will run the ball and attack with PA like they did last year, the defense there is worse than it was a year ago. -
NE started doing this when they started rolling 2 TEs with gronk/hernandez after the moss divorce. They usually carried some variation of it with Gronk and others but the main thing i remember is if you see a personnel matchup that you can exploit you do it. Cook with Diggs and Crowder + howard and Knox. If they are stacking the box you can just flow to an empty set and force them to man up. Put knox on the outside 1x1 with a LB, i think we take that all day. Decent chance Cook and Crowder can shake openings as well. If they roll nickel and zone - just run it.

His 2021 year has some concerning Tua trends. Very RPO dependent, very short throw dependent, and the YAC numbers weren't very good for an offense of that style. New coach, new offensive style, better weapons across the board. I think he'll do alright this year - but the problem is he's now getting to extension territory so do they dismantle what they have to give Tua 40M a year?

The big issue for Rosen is his experience the last 2 years is just... none. 26 snaps in the last 2 years. There's probably still talent there, but his last film out there was 3 years ago and it was bad. So the problem is very likely between the ears, and he'll likely never figure that part of it out.

You missed out on the QB carousel though. If he doesn't blink and holds out you don't have a QB.

He's never really in the conversation as the best running back ever - but man... the guy gets trashed because his team was good. I guess its a brady thing too. Patient runner, elite contact balance, tough as hell, and just a tackle breaking machine. He wasn't juking guys out of their shoes, but he cut through a LOT of tackles in his career.

Pre-injury last year it looked like he'd really turned a corner into becoming an elite player. Through week 8 - Averaged 285 through the air completing 72.4% - 17 TDs to 7 Ints - Another 150 yards on the ground. Extrapolate that out and its 4800 through the air 36 TDs and 15 picks. Another 300 and 6 TDs on the ground. I'm not sure hes "that guy" but i can see why his agents asking for what he is - when he was healthy last year he was basically a tiny little josh allen.
-
I always thought he was relatively "unspectacular" - not the fastest, the biggest, most elusive etc. But he was fast enough, big enough, tough enough, and broke a ton of tackles. I'd say he had elite contact balance, and just elite balance in general. His cuts never looked insane or anything, but he knew his angles, and arm tackles seemed to slip right off of him.

Yep - we just beat bad teams so badly that even DVOA weighting doesn't adjust it well enough. 7 - sub 250 yard games. 6 sub 15 first down games. 2 sub 10 first down games. I mean the jets had 53 total yards. And the defense had 4 brutal games - Tennessee, Tampa, Indy, and KC in the playoffs. 1 takeaway in all 4 - all games over 350 yards, all games over 100 on the ground.

Taron Johnson on the outside.

Yeah - I honestly always thought nickel was more difficult. More responsible for run fits, and no sideline boundary to rely on. Having played CB in high school... i need that sideline. I also needed it to be on my right. -
Fins spent some money and picks. Waddle had a nice year for fantasy, but i didn't see much from him last year to really instill fear as majority of his usage was in RPO settings. They added the best FA tackle, FA running back depth, kept both TEs. I still see an offense that is less than the sum of its parts though especially with a new system. As for the defense - there's no notable additions and they lose their coach in Flores. They should maintain the same blitz heavy look - but if you look at their win/loss from a year ago, that defense feasted on trash QBs (much like buffalos) I think the patriots will continue to play ball-control and keep jones in that 25ish pass attempts per game range. Their defense will be what it always is - matchup dependent and pretty good against both run and pass. I don't love their DBs and their pass rush still needs work even with Judon. The Jets were so far away a year ago. Alluring pieces at WR,RB,DB,DE are nice additions. Brought in Tomlinson as a FA, get Lawson back from injury etc. I still don't see enough in the defense to keep the other team from scoring. I also think the oline there is still going to be pretty bad.

Steelers. Green bay. San Francisco. There's a reason these guys only change things up a little over a long period of time - they look good. -
Bills ranked dead last in YAC last season.

Buffalo just threw the ball further down the field. I'm sure if you looked at the % of throws behind the LOS or within 5 yards - KC has more than Buffalo. They have a more athletic and generally better offensive line than buffalo - especially on the interior. Why wouldn't you run more screens and RPOs? -

Hitches/comebacks are dangerous though... depending on coverage he's basically always open. And if you identify man/single high you can eventually roast them on the double move. Both teams had a TON of 2 high safety looks to counter a lot of the deep crossers that both teams excel at. Buffalo beat this with deep threats and route running (hitches, out routes, etc.). KC beat this with more YAC type plays - screens, short passing, and RPOs. -

The best bet to add YAC is to throw the ball on shorter passes, and away from the sidelines. We added cook and crowder for this exact purpose. -
Epenesa, Ford & Moss -Are they outta here?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
My only thing on Moss and DS as well for that matter - Moss had a 1.5 yards before contact and DS had a 2.3. Some of that could be... apprehensiveness or not hitting holes hard. But also, neither of those are good numbers at all. Which directs me back to offensive line struggles. Hopefully saffold can help there, as well as kromer - but i think a lot of the offenses success and failure will fall back to that unit. -
Warren Sapp: Kaep Workout With Raiders "A Disaster"
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall
At his best he was a bigger, stronger armed Tyrod Taylor. He wasn't accurate enough to keep the chains moving consistently, and he was pretty much only suited to the Roman style offense. He isn't a QB who can adapt to another system, he basically requires the system to adapt to him. Not to say that Tomsula and Kelly were good NFL coaches, but they were both choosing to trot out gabbert at times based on his ability to grasp their systems. Just doesn't seem like the type of guy who grasps nfl systems effectively, nor has the ability to read and manipulate defenses.
