I thought it the second we signed Kromer. It’s a shot. A small one I think but definitely a shot. I expect another Kromer FA addition…maybe not a starter but a good backup at least. I think we’re going to draft one too… Knock on wood, with any luck we’ll have a top five OL this year! Hopefully less contact for Josh, more for our RBs and receivers… This is such an exciting time of year. The Bills roster is going to change quite a bit more this FA… Star gone maybe… So, the DT room greatly changed….Hopefully we really feel strong about the team after FA and feel like it’s going to be one or another position drafted (2). Maybe WR and CB? That is, if we get Chandler. Keep Star or sign another DT…. We do both of those things and the DL is set. Another Kromer special and a third rounder ought to finish the OL mostly. That leaves WRs and CBs at one and two, baby! Although I always thought it an easy path to go FA at WR as they’ll line up at the door for a chance at a one year deal with Josh…. So if we go FAs at WR that’s fine and perhaps go DL instead. The point is can Beane cut down the holes a lot before the draft? Lets watch…. Go Bills!

Bills converting Matt Milano salary to signing bonus
billybrew1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
We’ve got to get someone… but perhaps the available players cannot really help us? Too old, etc… People say Jones can still play but I watched AZ at the end of the season and Jones never popped out… Miller is nowhere near his peak glory…. anybody else? -

As long as we replace him…. And McKenzie ain’t a replacement. We need the same number of good weapons to take into the year…. I hope we redo more contracts as well. Build that Super Bowl team as well as keep up with the Joneses…. -
Along with OL and weapons for Josh…. We need balance….

Bills sign DT Tim Settle, formally of Washington Commanders.
billybrew1 replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t know if anyone pointed out yet that Settle knows how the Bills DL is supposed to play coming from Washington. For good or bad, The new Carolina is Washington, baby! Yes, of course, this signing sounds sneaky good…. -

2022 Free Agency - Around the NFL Thread

We should be watching SD. Know your opponent. Looks like SD is really trying to go for it this year. Herbert possibly took less time than Allen to be dominating. SD can go earlier. If the Bills are able to keep up with the Jones, you have to like the Bills over everyone though…. JA is like a Super human QB…. -

If we lose McKelvin, Beasley and Sanders we really need to replace them as well. We don’t want to go thru the whole season and then a couple WRs and be dead in the water. We had 7 good weapons last year I think we need to keep that number at seven. I don’t think we need a great one but I’d take one. We need Diggs and six good football weapons behind him (like last year.) Nitpicking now but we need a punter, PR and KR too….Hopefully Beane is slick and replacements for Beasley, Sanders and McKelvin can double as a PR and KR. Possibly Stevenson or Hodgins fill one of those spots but they are long shots, we’ll see… And we need a guy to challenge Singletary and Moss. At least Moss at a minimum. but I’m kind of being exacting where your just trying to keep things simple. LOL, we havta get a backup QB as well….Sorry! LOL, I just noticed, I swear to God, that you missed DT. We definitely need one of those and a good one. Fletcher Cox is being traded reportedly and he is one of the best players in the whole game. Get him and Chandler Jones and we can’t miss!!! LOL, but that ain’t going to happen. But if FC goes to an AFC contender I’m going to cry…. 😭 Yeah, I have DT as a real high need. We need a good one too. So, DT, DE, CB (all good ones) an improved OL, weapons to replace lost ones, backup QB, RB, another CB, P, KR, PR… and this list, it should be known, is what we need to surely be the best team in the NFL bar none. PS - We probably need changes to our tired D in order to sign a good pass rusher…then we’d probably go DT in the first, corner in the second, WR in the third, OL in the fourth….etc. Go Bills! -
Hey! The Bills were up there for decades….

Plus, injuries do happen in camp or the regular season. He might not be a bad add midseason….

Here’s a couple of moves that make sense to me.
billybrew1 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
We’ll, I hope when they say he can absorb double teams that that means he commands double teams. That is, if not doubled he’ll ruin the play. Run or pass. I’m hoping he is that kind of player but IDK? A Marcel Darius at his peak without the constant ganja would be an excellent player at 25…. The kid is kind of famous so I think he’s pretty good…. -
We still need depth and multiple weapons to make it thru the very long season and then the grueling playoffs…. We had seven good weapons last year we need to keep that number stable. It’s not that we need a Super Star, it’s the # of weapons…And we a couple good weapons. We have Diggs all alone then a bunch of good weapons in Knox, Beasley, Davis, Singletary, Sanders and McKenzie. Looks like we will have to replace Sanders, McKenzie and Beasley this year…. Maybe Davis next year? So, three this year. Who will they be? I figure a FA, One of Hodgson or Stevenson and a roookie by the third rd. Might be a couple upgrades and a downgrade….It would be awesome news to hear Davis extended…. So… I kind of agree with you… Davis is a fine player but there are still question marks as we have used Davis fantastically. Having so many weapons we get Davis lost in the defense….I don’t know how good he is beating one on one hard coverage by a #2 CB….or, I don’t know at least… Go Bills!

I think this was a special team. The way we kept so many together for so long. But I think we’re paying some for overpaying players now and for KC-gate….I don’t think we’ll have that really close family feeling for a while now…. Although we still have Hyde and Poyer for now….
-
I think if they didn’t ask him for a pay cut it is because they knew he wouldn’t. He can double dip some now. How much dead cap is there? He’d be a great backup at RG and C, he wasn’t very good at LG…. But a guy who can do all three is uncommon. But we could’ve used him for depth that’s for sure…. Go Bills!

Does the strategy change when a team is this close to the SB?
billybrew1 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. What I think you are thinking of is a close team goes for it. A close team spends money in the future for players now. And that is absolutely correct. Most Super Bowl winners have done this save the pats who saved money because Tommy did not ask for top dollar. Allen also chose to not take top dollar for a clean shot at the Super Bowl and every day it’s starting to look like more and more that the Pegulas aren’t going to give Josh a realistic shot at those Super Bowls…. Josh has to luck out and win it by himself. Most great SB winning QBs had good to great defenses. Much better than ours which features one blue chipper only. -
Why are top 30 visits most meaningful? Weve got to make every pick count and I’m not kidding either. The draft is our main path from now on. They better hit on some low picks?

No Bills fan should say stuff like this….
