The Curious Case of the Buffalo Bills
rockpile replied to BettorFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When the Bills were winning, they had contributions from all aspects of the game. If the offense struggled, the D hung in there, the STs would score or pin the opponent against the wall.. there was a balance to the team. Their confidence has been shaken and they just cannot put a complete team on the field. I would REALLY like to see some innovation in the game plan. That said, I will be watching and cheering from the kickoff on, expecting to see professional football. I hope the Bills can live up to my expectations! Go Bills! -
Hi Diane! I learned that Australian Texans are not all marsupials. You learned what a Garbage Plate was, too!

Wouldn't the receipt for putting the other one back in, because the "new" one was crap be the same thing?

Rochester only got an inch of snow, but in the early evening yesterday, visibility was poor and the roads were slick. Close to a whiteout at times between Canadaigua and the city. -
The "Official" Bills Gameday thread!!

is that a false start or premature exclamation? -
I have three daughters. I am certainly not a prude and I have not forgotten my teen years. I agree with you on one point anyway, raising my daughters is the job of me and Mrs Rock. They are three beauties - not saints - but they know right from wrong and what acceptable behavior is! Had they been "sexting", the school would have been the least of their worries. I am big on accountability for your own actions!

Well, deja vu all over again. I was laid of in January 2006, and was luckily back to work by April. It was supposed to be contract to hire, but I guess the economy did not follow that pattern. Besides taking a pay cut, the contract benefits sucked, but it was a paycheck and interesting work. I really did NOT see this coming since they were signing me up for training classes and I was involved in several key projects. Too bad these days quality engineers are considered 'overhead'. I heard they had cut some temps early today, and something told me to pack my personal things in my brief case. So at about 3pm today the division manager says he would like to have a word with me. My boss works out of town Thursday and Friday, or she would have had to tell me. Merry Christmas to me. The wife left for NY city this morning for a weekend with the girls. Now I have to figure out how to tell her Sunday night I do not have a job to go to Monday. No sense telling her now when she calls to check in - she has been looking forward to this weekend for a long time. This time I do not have a sweet severance package either. I did not get to say seeya to anyone. At least I know I was doing MY best, but corporate said cut all the temps. Am I pissed? Yeah, but I will land on my feet and be pounding on doors by Monday. God will not give me a load I cannot carry.

"The Day the Earth Stood Still" I am a BIG fan of the black and white Cold War classic version. I like Keanu Reeves and have no problem with him playing Klaatu. My biggest concern is that they will butcher the plot from the original. I am crossing my fingers it is not another "I, Robot", because I love science fiction. If you are going to write a different story, do not take the name of something else. "Yes Man" Sounds like a formula Carrey movie . "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" Makes me want to find the F. Scott Fitzgerald story. It is bizarre in a Ray Bradury fashion. "Valkyrie" I guess the Germans were not enamored of Scientology either. I guess Cruise has toned down the volume on his pulpit and may be tolerable. It sounds like a definite "wait for the DVD" movie tough. Interestingly when Cruise read the script he did not realize this was HISTORY. WTF do they teach in school these days!? "Seven Pounds". This is reported to be one of the darkest movies Will Smith has made, but that is because he is usually the loud prankster with a gun in one hand, a girl in the other, and a cigar in his mouth. Hard to dislike Will Smith. "Bedtime Stories" Sounds like a formula Carrey, oops I mean Sandler movie. Is his talent that narrow or his he really that limited in characters he can play? "Marley & Me" Yawn, unless Jennifer Aniston gets nude, heh. "The Spirit" I hope Miller can convey the satiric character Will Eisner created. Some of the best "comic strip" stuff ever made! If they let Frank Miller drive the bus this will be a cult hit, if nothing else.. "Punisher: War Zone" Yawn. Video game, not a movie "The Tale of Despereaux" You never know - it is all in the way the characters are animated (visually and vocally) but the cast looks outstanding Thanks for the summary!!

Good luck and keep your spirits up. I truly know how you feel.

Happy Birthday my dear friend! May good luck follow you in whatever you do! -
Scott Pitoniak has the same problem most people have had to face, he is a long term employee (24 years). Companies feel they can replace the "veterans" with rookie writers if need be, at a much lower cost. It is happening all over, and it is not new. It happened to my Dad when he was 58. They replaced him with a 20 something at half the salary. I was let go just shy of 27 years on the job. Luckily I landed on my feet, but took a 25-30% cut to keep working AND I am still on contract (18 months +)! I will miss his columns, and yes, we do get a "paper" newspaper.

I am just pissed because attending the Miami at Buffalo game in December was an annual favorite of mine. I will watch or listen to the game, but have no desire (or time or money) to go to Toronto for the game. I am resigned to some "home" games there. -

HEY! ...you remember training camp in Blasdell. ...your father was on a first name basis with Buster Ramsey. ...you shook hands with Tom Day. ...you got real good at listening to the game on radio because all home games were blacked out. -

If Ralph wants to win the Ring in his lifetime, he has to step back and let his managers manage. The alternative is changing every three years, just to change. -
You mean it is OK to criticize poor play and NOT be accused of being a band wagon jumper? WOW!

Leo Lyons was the true Walter Mitty of pro football (even had a nagging wife). Go Jeffs!

Name one thing Ralph Wilson has done for Buffalo
rockpile replied to rockpile's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
...After Miami turned him away. Look, I am only speaking about him keeping the Bills in Buffalo. I am delighted he did that and am a "lifer" as long as the team stays here. I have been a fan since the AFL days. It just seems to me that as a millionaire owner, he should have found some a way in the past four decades to bring together the right combination of administrators, coaches, and players to win ONE Super Bowl. I started this thread in a Bills context and it went way off my target. I need to communicate my thoughts better. I do not question ANYTHING about him except his ability and drive to bring home a champion, whatever the cost. Those attacking him personally can take a hike. -
I hate to spoil the pity party ....

I agree with you. The Bills have to finish the season with an attitude that they will win out, and the rest is history or out of their hands. As always I will be watching and cheering.
