  1. Ed Rutkowski was drafted as a WR. Rating him as a QB is not fair. The line was the real disaster. They were so bad that he took the ball from the center in the shotgun formation to give him an extra second before he was creamed. The 'shotgun' was very rarely used back in the 60's. It was invented by the 49ers in the early 60's for the same reason the Bills used it! We were looking at the formation, asking what the hell are they doing?
  2. <sigh> "If" is the biggest word in the dictionary.
  3. Nope, nobody does. That is why thick skin is a valuable commodity. JW - emoticons are not for the lazy, at least not always. Without seeing a face or hearing the voice, too many words have double meaning. Hang in there Gino! Go Bills!
  4. Flabbergasted has a double 'b', and after all is not one word, you illiterate moron. Was that you selling deep fried twinkies in Little Italy on Saturday? To illustrate My last remark - Jonah and the Whale Noah and the Ark. What did they do, just when everything looked so dark? Man, they said we better: Accent-chewate the positive. Elim-inate the negative and Latch on to the affirmative, Don't mess with Mr. In Between Sleep deprivation is a wonderful thing! Please accept this with the same smile in which it was was offered, Dan. Seriously, if you want to hear stoopid sports talk, watch the Yankees on Fox. They will be talking about the ties they chose to wear that night while someone is scoring an in the park home run. To be fair to players and coaches (and journalists too, jw), after a LONG road game with dozens of people with microphones wanting to speak with you, it must be hard to answer any question thoughtfully.
  5. You do really suck John. You forgot to add that it was a road game. By the way your punctuation is really terrible, even when you use it. Plus, you left out some words, and spelled a couple wrong. What's a taht, an upscale teat? You are the man! "See the people walking down the street Fall in line just watching all their feet They don't know where they wanna go But they're walking in time They got the beat They got the beat Yeah They got the Bills Beat Rock-oreck-pile
  6. I respectfully disagree with you 'TheChimp'. I think jusnzane is CORRECT! If we had no team, we would no have TBD and no Stadium Wall to complain on! I am glad we have an NFL franchise and really hope we can get an owner who wants to stay in Buffalo and wants a SB ring more than anything else. Now, I can B word about the LACK of W's. Note to MaineMoxie: I get a kick out of wearing Bills gear and having perfect strangers make some comment. Wow, look at that - we can disagree without calling each other names! (either that or I am just a tard)
  7. No, it is more like saying at least I have a car, it runs like crap, but still beats walking.
  8. Putting myself in his shoes... I wanted an NFL team in 1959 and could not get one. I risked a lot to join a new league to compete with the NFL. I was a major force in making the NFL and my new league merge. I worked for 50 years to keep my team solvent by making sure smaller markets could survive. My goal was and is a Super Bowl championship. After all that AND especially after the HOF induction, my only material goal I have not achieved is The Ring. I look 150 years old. I ask myself how do I want to be remembered? As the guy who took his team all the way to the top? As the guy who thought second place was good enough, because I have money? What will my legacy be? Coulda. Shoulda. Woulda. Captain Checkdown of Owners
  9. I have reached the point of not getting upset. I still care but cannot allow that to affect me. I can not root against the Bills.
  10. I would not boo him, but if the Browns are winning it would be hard to cheer. In a way, I think the best way to deliver a message to him would be to have the stadium go dead silent when his name is announced.
  11. It was nice meeting you at Danny's South the night before the opener, John. All kidding aside, it is gratifying to see the "bar" raised every year as more and more journalists contribute to Two Bills Drive. Remember though, Lori is still here to keep you working hard. I agree - welcome aboard Scott Pitoniak. I have been reading your news/comments in the Demagogue and Comical for decades. Scott (SDS) - things have sure come a long way since TBD called ME a journalist, eh? Rockpile
  12. 1967 was the year I started saying "Wait until next year!" I stand by my team as a fan, but they are beginning to look more and more like the 4 wins in two seasons teams of the 80's. I have said it before - the only constant in Buffalo never winning an NFL championship is the owner. There are many things you can say to defend this "wonderful man", but from purely a football perspective, the only thing he has done for the city of Buffalo is keep the franchise here. Mr. Wilson, PLEASE get out the wallet and bring in the coaches and players to WIN. Get a Super Bowl ring. THEN AND ONLY THEN will you have fully achieved your goal as an NFL owner. Until then you are Mr. Almost. That said, I'll be cheering for the Bills Sunday. Worse than crack.
  13. Two Words that Could Get us to the Playoffs: "Dear Santa,"
  14. I am with you all. I cheer for the Bills but have no expectations. As an NFL franchise they have never finished better than second best. I would assume RW has assured his heirs will have all the money they need (and more), regardless of what happensto the Bills. How can he NOT be sinking every penny he can squeeze into winning the championship ring? I am not saying he should do it for the fans. It is his money and his team. I am saying if he gives a rats ass at all, he would be CRAVING a SB ring, since he cannot take the money with him. If that is not his goal, why does he own a team? New motto: Buffalo Bills: We make sucky teams look good!
  15. You are either forgetting to add something to suggest this is sarcasm, or you do not know Hammer.
  16. I think you should just sell tickets. If they are friends they will pony up what they would pay to see a pro football game. Also, charge for parking.
  17. Anyone easily offended should run away!
  18. Food on the table, a warm home, help with your homework, clean clothes without holes in them (unless holes are cool) - the rest is earned. Why is that so hard to understand? It is a parent's job to teach then that! A lady was picking up her son at our daycare, and he was not listening. So she starts *counting* 1... 2... I looked at her and said "that only works when you actually GET to three, you know", and kept walking. I NEVER counted to my kids. That is only giving them time to decide if they need to do what you say or not. Tanstaafl!
  19. I gave you the better parts of the daughter's wedding experience. No sense dragging out the details that are not important now. Were there arguments and disagreements? Of course! We had a couple really nasty fights with her, her future husband, and various family members. Wedding = Stress! Early in the wedding plan phase, daughter asked "Can we do this, have this, rent this, etc." We said she could have anything she wanted, but WE were contributing 'x' dollars and that was it. That was when the reality light bulb went off for her, and she became more realistic. She looks back now and is fine with it. Also, we had a son in college at the time and two other daughters in jr. high and elementary school to consider!
  20. When my daughter got married just over a decade ago, we had set aside a certain amount of money for the wedding and reception. The new couple and the groom's parents also paid their "share". Both families chipped in to make party favors and decorate the reception hall. My daughter found and chose a *beautiful* wedding dress that was not new (only worn once LOL) and had it re-tailored and trimmed which saved a LOT of cash, and she was a knockout in it. We paid for the buffet dinner (including open bar) and some other expenses - we never got out calculators, but all costs were shared. It was fairly modest I guess, but a memorable event, and it was paid for at the end of the day! It is about the commitment to marriage, family, and their new life. It is NOT about the dress, the hall, or the trimmings! I am a boomer and my life was cake compared to my parents, who grew up in the depression and fought a world war. I did not expect them to subsidize me. There seems to be a scary trend, when a tragedy today is defined as a 12 year old running out of cell phone minutes. We help our kids now as much as we can and want - and we know when to say "no". They are adults and ultimately responsible for themselves now. The best part is that our children are still our *friends*.
  21. Yes, Boss! May take a few days...
  22. I seem to recall they blew up 3rd down. I wanted to see a third down pass, and still an easy FG if that does not work. The FG was the correct call and if you disagree you are a stupid-head!
  23. Here are some very self indulgent photos. I have to get mine and the daughter's linked up. Funk 49 You had to be there!
  24. I rated it as very Beebe-ish. Never quit! It was on a blown play but I think it sparked the Bills a bit.
