The Mets are NY too. People either love or hate the Yankees. Their rebound from average to solid, becoming division leaders, has created a lot of new and likely temporary fans. In June, people were calling for Girardi's head. I am sure that Jeter is glad to reach this team milestone, and almost as glad to get the cameras and media focused on the game again. He loves to play and he plays to WIN, not lose a game! Been a Yankees fan since we had to sneak transistor radios and earphones into elementary school because the series was played in the daytime, and there were no (few?) night games. They also was no way to record and replay the games at night.

Jeter cannot help what the media does. I am sure he is happy the hoopla is over. One of the few class acts left in professional sports. If the Yankees sucked this year, few would have paid attention. In perspective: 1. Jeter is still around 50th on the league wide MLB hit list. 2. Baseball is much more popular than hockey. 3. I like Jeter and the Yankees so I care. 4. I do not care much for hockey, but I will tip my hat to Broduer, whoever he is.

oh yeah, off the top of my head.... No phone, no food, no pets, I ain't got no cigarettes. I smoke old stogies I have found, short and not too big around. I'm a man of means, and by no means King of the Road

As with most music, regardless of era, I like the GOOD stuff. As far as that 55 Chevy, I would have been two years old. Hard to share the nostalgia! Check out "Duke Elegant" - Dr. John tribute to Duke Ellington. The 60's had the Beatles, Jimi, Cream, Who, Stones..... and the 1910 Fruit Gum Company

It ain't easy, EZ, but I am a Bills fan to the core. See you on the 20th! Rock on! -
The game is blacked out here. It sounds like that is a good thing. I had my routine MS periodic MRI scan today and that was probably more fun than the game. I spent almost two hours in the torture tube! *-)

Good advice for traveling in general! Many of the tips would apply to Toronto or New York City, or (fill in the blank). We stayed in Playa del Carmen last year and the best time we had was on Cozumel. I would recommend taking the ferry to the mainland and then walking as far away from the touristy pier as possible. I would rent a car/bike on Cozumel but not on the mainland. When I was there (February '09) driving was not fun on the mainland. Personally, I love Puerta Vallarta and the west coast better than the small part of the Yucaton I saw. I do have to say the water in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen is the most beautiful I have ever seen - clear when you are in it and extraordinary colors from a distance. This was our 5th vacation in Mexico. We avoided Cancun. That is not Mexico to me. At the all-inclusive, tip the bartenders and hotel staff (maids) well on the first day and they will make your stay more pleasant (drinks ready, rooms clean!). Do not "talk down"to the locals. There are a lot of wonderful people there, who appreciated courtesy and will open right up to you, if you treat them as the equals they are. Yes, there are scam artists, but most of the people are terrific.

Colonscopy Tomorrow, What A Pain In The Ass!!
rockpile replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
After a few doses, I just took a magazine, the glass of nuke flush (mixed with Gatorade), and stayed in the bathroom. To this day, I cannot drink Gatorade. The pictures came out real good, though! -

Try a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) and a colonoscopy will seem like a cake walk. -
My vote is for Mohegan Sun (mostly on YES network). I have been there two or three times and really enjoyed myself, but if all I saw was their commercials I would NEVER go there! What commercials bug you the most, specifically because they make something good look really BAD?

My "tack" is above where a short sleeve dress shirt can cover it. I got my ear pierced over ten years ago, but after I got laid off a couple years ago I stopped wearing it at work. I can just picture old farts in nursing homes with ink that says "born to be wild". LOL! You stole my avatar, you bastid! "V: Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V. Evey: Are you like a crazy person? V. : I’m quite sure they will say so. V For Vendetta -
867-5309 She has a boyfriend, and I would be pleased if they got married in a few more years. It is nice to feel that way about someone who is with your daughter (as opposed to the lecherous group here!) or some other boyfriends I have not had knee-capped. (one was a Golisano) "K" has been a ticket girl at the TBD tailgate ticket girl for at least 2 years now. Babyrock and "K" (Pebbles) are with SDS in a picture on his album, btw. It is funny, when I started tailgating with SDS, she was only 10 years old. Her "older"sister is still AKA Babyrock, and is a "maybe" for the opener ; she is in grad school in CT.

I think the $$ figure people are focusing on is wrong. What matters most is how many $$ are GUARANTEED! Let me put it another way. R.Rich has two Garbage Plates and a coupon for a free one on his next visit. You tell them you want one free plate now and two coupons for free plates. They get pissed and make you leave. R.Rich's car breaks down, but at least he got his two plates, so the anticipation of another free plate in the future meant nothing. Is this analogy stupider than most of the ones in this thread? If not I apologize.
