  1. He said "An NFL bound player should have understood such risks and held himself accountable better". He shouldn't have been Yet Another College Idiot !
  2. I think the take from the Bills has been simply "This is very serious stuff and Matt needs to spend his time to resolve it and not worry about football". They are not judging him as guilty or not as that MUST be determined only by the court of the law. The Bills will crawl out by saying that "they were glad they gave the opportunity to Matt without any distraction to pursue and prove himself innocent". Finally, the NFL is talking about a 6th round draft pick who is a Punter. I think that is a big difference.
  3. I think that is how Beane and McDermott should have treated it. They made it a much bigger deal instead of moving on from it.
  4. We really cannot guess the mental state of the plaintiff. She may not have been hoping that the SD Police Department would have pursued the case based on her statement and waited for them to take action; May be their inaction could have now prompted her to go after a civil law suit as an alternative. We are not in her shoes and we cannot really feel in her way. Give the girl a break. Everything cannot be rationalized.
  5. The 1st assertion is incorrect. Beane clearly stated that there were additional things in the 11-page Civil suit that was far more serious in nature and that led them to part ways so that Matt could focus on getting his name cleared. I don't believe any public perception forced them to make this cut (At least I hope that was not the case) Sean definitely was far more shook up than Beane. I would have expected it the other way around as the hiring of the players is the GM's responsibility
  6. I assume some of this falls on the scout who is presenting the player to the organization. At the least, the scout's job is to get the name to the Bills Internal Investigation organization for their background verification. I am sure the scout would have talked to the local football coaches, who in turn may have hid the whole issue. Again, no point in putting the blame game...the responsibility lies with Beane.
  7. I agree. I think we are going to have a very dominating run defense this year. With the necessary pass rush from Miller and Rosseau we should not be in the position we were at KC with 13 seconds to go. Cook catching passes from Allen is different from a slow keenam.
  8. I also noticed a slightly different demeanour with Beane this time. He did not keeps his eyes straight up; instead he was staring at the desk (I know he had some notes) more often while talking instead of looking up at the folks. It was definitely discomforting to him and he knew they (Bills) had made a mistake in not pursuing it further after the July 31st meeting.
  9. Shakir is playing more outside than being a slot receiver. I think he is being used lik Diggs...put him all over the field.
  10. My understanding is that employment is at will and works for both the employers and employees. Employees quit an organization if they don't like it or found a better opportunity. The Employer has the same power to do the other way. At the end of the day, Companies are NOT courts. I agree that the Bills now know more critical information (May be Matt's has confessed to them that he did have sex and raped the girl, but that he and his friends thought she was eighteen !!!). May be that is what helped them to close the deal on his release.
  11. Agreed. This is a first PR misstep by Beane. Are they really afraid that the players will revolt against the management for this action? Beane made a fair comment that the information was sealed and not available to them during the draft - Fair enough. However, they came to know about it on July 31st. They have ignored such a serious thing and waiting 25 days for the bomb of the civil suit to come out before they took action. This puts them in poor light on such a decision making, especially with a woman owner to whom they were reporting. And now, finally, if they had come out saying that the "Bills Image" was more important for the Owners, Coaches, Players and Staff then the Bills would have come out as an organization that cares.
  12. I mean - there is.a police complaint by the girl registered last year when the event occurred! And two teams by-passed him in the draft in April when he was considered the Best punter coming out of college.
  13. I believe the teams and NFL cannot take action on Matt as the incident occurred before he came into the NFL.
  14. WE already have a younger Beasley in Crowder!
  15. > Beane has plenty to consider in a post mortem review of how this unfolded… Well put. This is a black mark on Beane and his team. They missed on a basic red flag. San Diego State is not a tiny college in some no-man borough
  16. I agree with it. The Bills investigation team would have had to have known about it and raised a red flag; may be they raised it and Beane/McDermott ignored it. Also, the BIlls organisation would have shown MORE class if they had cut him before the Carolina game. MY worry is the fear in Beane and McDermott to let go of a player at a non-critical position with zero financial impact. I understand that the Bills are in general a very caring and empathy oriented organzation towards the players; But this one needed to show to players that at the end Beane and McDermott are the boss and they will be ruthless with things that bring disrepute to the Buffalo Bills.
  17. Is this the case of the scouts (or the Bills internal investigations team) doing a piss poor job of NOT knowing of a police complaint against the player ? I think these are the folks who need to be fired for putting this franchise in this position. And if they did know about it and put it under the mat, Kim should be personally firing them
  18. This is not a court of law. THe NFL and its teams have images to handle and it is their prerogative. This is a no win situation. The Bills with a Woman owner has to take care of their image in the society than worrying about the contract of a Punter.
  19. this! The situation is with a punter. They have a owner who cares about how women are treated in our society. The team needs to cut bait and move on. They cannot have this as a distraction.
  20. Coaches have to practice too 🙂
  21. What a terrible play call....
  22. There was a reason he was a #1 pick. The Browns screwed him by continuously changing the team around him and his coaches. You cannot survive through that kind of changes in NFL.
