  1. In addition to "on brand" you seem confused by what a strawman is. Here are looney examples of what discussion points are picked up by the media under the guise of social justice, CRT, LGBT, and a host of other isms that make you uncomfortable. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/misinformation/urban-myth-litter-boxes-schools-became-gop-talking-point-rcna51439 https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2021/04/22/transgender-child-sports-treatments/ Public debates on whether books written by white men are racist, names of hurricanes are racist, and all the other nonsense that captures so much attention here and in the media is all noise meant to distract you. Here are actual things worth discussing that are great examples of the relevance of CRT. Before the inevitable reply that attacks the source, I can assure you that there is no shortage of studies conducted that illustrate that systems that are 100% color blind still produce outcomes consistent with overt racial bias. Please find one that you are comfortable with. Exploration of these topics and what causes these outcomes is the conversation worth having and not bickering about whether all literature written by white men should be removed from public education. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-07-29/job-applicants-with-black-names-still-less-likely-to-get-the-interview#xj4y7vzkg https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/publications/racial-disparity-sentencing https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/assets/141027_iachr_racial_disparities_aclu_submission_0.pdf
  2. What strawmen? A strawman is arguing a false point. A comparison of actual MSM talking points versus salient discussions that could be had instead is not a strawman. Whatabout Crenshaw books was on brand.
  3. The pendulum swings back and forth a bit before it lands where it should. There is a natural over reaction but I don't think its the new normal. Americans have short attention spans. One of the biggest problems is the discussion is dominated by the relatively sane debating the extremists on both sides rather than the relatively sane engaging with each other. That is how you wind up thinking that the ramblings from 5 batshit twitter accounts is an actual mainstream belief. That is how you wind up talking about cat litter boxes in bathrooms rather than why our legal system which is color blind on paper can still produce results that are consistent with racial bias. That is how you wind up talking about whether 7 year olds should have the right to gender reassignment surgery rather than why two resumes, identical in every way except for the name at the top, can receive radically different response rates from prospective employers. For a little perspective, I like to ask all teachers and civil servants I know how they're introducing CRT into their curriculum and managing practices and wait for the blank stares before they ask "what is CRT?". Its almost as satisfying as watching people who believe CRT is the greatest existential threat to this nation struggle to define it.
  4. If you want those things, you would have those things. There is nothing stopping you and all the other aggrieved who earnestly believe that White History is under represented in schools and White people have a painful history of marginalization in this country from launching these initiatives. Despite the hand wringing I have seen no action. Seems like these "ideas" more valuable as cheap talking points then they are as realities.
  5. That is not how things work in much of the world.
  6. I want Dallas to lose in the finals in this scenario. I am not in the mood to watch Vegas or Seattle compete for a cup after their collective 3 seasons of not playing in the post season.
  7. Can you think of a better way to communicate the gravity of your position than public displays of passive aggression?
  8. I will be pulling for Dallas to represent the west in the cup finals which is conflicting. I can't stomach the idea of either expansion team hoisting the cup. And in the east, go Panthers I guess. 🤮
  9. I guess I will have to wait until hes been retired for 2 or 3 years and gone totally broke to start that conversation that I don't want to have with Isaiah.
  10. Jade The Last Seduction Poison Ivy Single White Female I don't remember anything about the plot of these movies but they all had some memorable scenes. Does Species count?
  11. Cam Newton's end game was to go full Yoko Ono.
  12. I'm glad that I am capable of critical thinking. I can't imagine what type of asinine conclusions I might reach if I were to interpret everything that happens as a function of the president. Although there is a certain simplicity in screaming "Lets Go Brandon!" at rain clouds that seems comforting. Sometimes I am envious that I will never have that experience.
  13. I guess I don't remember when the executive ordered everyone to upgrade their housing situation during the pandemic. Lots of demand, lagging supply, and a 10 year run of extremely low interest rates seems like a recipe for rising prices. Something else happened in early 2020 which fundamentally transformed how people work and where they can live. But "voted for inflation" must be the answer.
  14. Your explanation of housing supply and demand in what is now a global real estate market boils down to inflation as dictated by the executive branch? Barring catastrophe, housing prices have been on steady trend for the past 40 years. https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CSUSHPINSA
  15. Take the meeting and come back and share some details. It never hurts to talk. Most asset managers for us regular people require initial investments of around $50k, charge between 0.1% and 2% depending on how active they trade and that percentage trends down until your total assets are over $500k or so. These managers put your money into funds or often funds-of-funds depending on your goals, future cash needs, and overall risk tolerance. It sounds like the guys you're talking to have a subscription service for stock tips or strategies but you still manage your own money. If this is a couple of guys with a Discord server or a website called UltraCalls, be very wary. Lots of pump and dump schemes out there promising huge returns. If they say anything about penny stocks, run for the nearest exit.
  16. Basically, unless you want to bank on luck or make picking stocks your full time pursuit. If you want to treat the $16k like a scratch off ticket then you could pick a stock or 2 or throw it into bitcoin/crypto. I have done things like that with old 401k funds. Every time I open that account I can't help but think that I would be a little happier had I just stuck the money I earned into something sensible. Anybody with fiduciary responsibility is unlikely to be suggesting stocks to you that will be a short term moonshot with extreme risk of bust, I would think.
  17. Fees are usually based on a % of assets invested and range from 0% to 2% depending on style of management (Active vs passive). What does $1,250 get you? Sounds like a newsletter with their picks.
  18. Most of the people posting here don't dress well enough for OTB. Its pretty safe to assume they wouldnt know anything about the Derby unless Dale Earnhardt was favored to win.
  19. Thats an absurd fee for $10,000. 12.5% is like 10x what admin fees should be. These are closer to hedge fund fees 2% of AUM and a 20% carried interest.
  20. The money in your IRA should still be in whatever investment vehicle you chose when you set it up or last edited your allocation. Its invested. If you want this money in the same place as your current 401k for ease of managing, you can roll it to your new provider without tax consequences. It is an easy process.
  21. ESpecially so when they go around telling everyone at the party they are 18 and demanding that dudes "love" them unless they're a homosexual.
  22. I would never sleep with a woman that would have me as a sexual partner. Have some f@#$ing self-respect honey!
  23. I don't presume to know Josh based on interviews and his obligatory media appearances. And no, I don't see anything "out of character" with him hamming it up in front of a camera. Hes been doing that since he was drafted.
  24. Maybe the judge will sentence the accuser to a year of being Araiza's butler?
  25. Araiza is a free agent and cannot be forced to sign with Buffalo as restitution to IronMaidenBills who was deprived of a year of watching punting.
