Mr Sunshine Sully Sullivan at it again
QCity replied to baskingridgebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lack of views isn't going to change his salary. He's not going to lose his job and he's certainly not going to change his tone. Again, it's not going to impact him at all. You want to get their attention? Start cancelling subscriptions en masse. -

I'm pretty sure if you don't have a sub you can't read the articles anyway. Maybe they give you the first 10 for free or something? But yeah, if you want to voice your displeasure then cancel your subscription. The whole "I'm not going to click on the articles" thing is just silly in this case. -

I just want to point out that TBN works on a subscription based model. While they do have ads, whether you click on articles or not isn't going to impact a TBN writer in the least. It's not going to change his salary, this isn't Bleacher Report. -
LeGarrette Blount Signing with the Eagles
QCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The contract length and size has no impact on qualification. They are never "sometimes too weak" -- it's black or white. He qualified after May 9 when they put that rarely used tag on him. Contract value only affects the compensation received in return. Incentives don't count in that formula either, so this would likely be a 7th round pick. The real value is that it "protects" their higher comp picks in case someone like Chris Long doesn't make the team. For example, if Long or Mingo get cut, the Pats would lose a 4th or 5th round pick. Now, they only stand to lose a 7th round pick. -

Rebuttal: Williams, Mularkey, Jauron, Gailey, Marrone, Ryan. -
A fracking magnate going solar. That would make a great story. Most of my friends that would consider this (i.e. early adopters) are taking the wait and see approach. I do think it's interesting that even the stout detractors that I know remain very curious.

Brandon Beane's Introductory Presser at 10:30 AM ET

No, not even close. In fact it's the polar opposite of Whaley's approach. -

Those are the exact words I wanted to hear. I've been preaching this approach for the past 4 years, so that's music to my ears. -
Pats* issue seldom-used May 9 tender to LeGarrette Blount
QCity replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are a lot of fans that believe once Brady retires the Pats will immediately morph into the Browns and it will be a cakewalk to the AFC East title and all our problems will be solved. Those fans are living in Fantasyland. Brady could go down for the year tomorrow and that team will still hit double-digit wins. Brady isn't the sole reason that team wins -- right now he's the difference between a 1st or 2nd round playoff exit and a Superbowl (which is substantial of course). I realize any praise of the Pats triggers half of our fanbase (it turns my stomach too), but their front office is at the top of the league. -

If Ducasse doesn't make our team the Ravens only lose a 7th. If Ducasse doesn't make our team and the Ravens sign Blount, they lose a 7th and a potential 3rd. They are essentially hamstrung from signing Blount now, because they can't risk losing a 3rd round pick based on what we do with a backup OL. Really quite fascinating. -

He just said "puck possession," I'm sold. -
He got more carries and more work because he was a better running back. You don't get playing time if you fumble.

QCity replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not necessarily, a team could potentially lose a high round pick. You have to understand that these picks don't transfer directly. For example, if Denver signed him, they would lose a 3rd and the Patriots would likely receive a 7th. No. The Pats already have comp picks coming (2 estimated) so they will guarantee themselves another pick if Blount signs elsewhere. The value of the contract only determines what round pick they will receive, which would probably be a 7th. -

Yeah, "the transaction now counts toward the compensatory draft pick formula for 2018," so he's getting shafted here. That's cold-blooded, even by Pats standards. There's a good chance a team was waiting until today to sign him like the Vikings just did with Michael Floyd. Now they have to take a step back and discuss it. Yeah, but those teams (that know they aren't getting comp picks) would have already signed him weeks ago if they wanted him. -

The clock stops and nothing happens. If he sits out until week 10 he becomes available. He has until July 22nd though, and he still could sign with another team. Edited: Apparently he can sit out until week 10 and sign with another team. -

That's exactly what it does. They get a free draft pick out of this, or worst case scenario is they get a guy who ran 1,100 / 18TDs for $1.1M. They are elite with asset management, and have been for years. That's completely ridiculous. -
Hah, great quote. McD: "You can put all the groceries you want in the cart Brandon, I'll still checkout with what I want though." I wouldn't worry too much about accountability or blame, these two are clearly joined at the hip. If they don't have success they'll both be fired at the exact same time in one press conference. There will be no Whaley-Rex-Marrone-Nix "who did what" controversy.

This could be the last year in a Bills uniform for Kyle Williams, Shady, Tyrod, and possibly Watkins. I'd say the 2018 season is when the rebuild truly begins.

This is shaping up to be the most unsurprising and predictable GM hire in decades. I expect the Rooney Rule candidate to interview via Skype.

Good article on Bills front office purge
QCity replied to PirateHookerMD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It feels like I've been saying this for the past 3 years. Now that he's gone and the rose-colored glasses are off, maybe fans will look at the GM role a little differently. -
That's always been my line of thinking. You don't build a team to get to the playoffs. You build a team to win the whole thing, and the playoffs become just a necessary hurdle on the way. Unfortunately this involves that pesky QB issue. I can tell you one thing for certain, with two first round picks coming up, college football is going to be incredible to watch next year.
