Real Refs to return this weekend

From profootballtalk link: Cold water being dashed on reports of NFL-NFLRA agreement Posted by Darin Gantt on September 26, 2012, 1:24 PM EDT AP As if on cue, the brake-pumping has begun. With the first wave of reports that a deal between the NFL and locked-out officials was close, next comes the wave of reports saying “Not so fast.” Sports Illustrated’s Peter King just tweeted: “NFLRA negotiator Scott Green has notified officials that a deal is not imminent.” That dovetails with the NFL Network’s Albert Breer’s report this morning, which acknowledged progress but noted substantial differences on the pension issue. Perhaps the truest words of the last hour were uttered by NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, who also took to Twitter. “Having done this before, everyone needs to wait until the ink is dry.” Again, all signs point toward this thing being finished, and perhaps soon. Our long, national nightmare is almost over. But as we approach the finish line, the urge to mark territory runs strong in the media, and sometimes needs to be curbed. -
A few numbers from last year: Moorman was 18th in total punts, 21st in net yardage, 5th in gross, 24th in inside the 20, 30th in fair catches, and had the most touchbacks. He was tied with a lot for having 1 punt blocked. pretty poor numbers I'm afraid.....

CLE Vs. CIN Analysis. NFL Rewind is handy
richNjoisy replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peter King just picked the Browns to win and raved about their run defense especially D'Qwell Jackson. Of course, the Bills may lose - I have not problem with that part of his prediction but his raving about the run part is inconsistent with the Review here (#2 Defense Summary) which does not rave and, in fact, says we will likely get 3 yards plus per run. Anyone else have a feel for the Browns run defense? -
Replacement Refs Sucked Last Night
richNjoisy replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I noticed a ton of "moving picks" (offensive pass interference) not being called. I did not notice any ref bias which is WAY more of a worry to me - in my opinion, as long as the refs are consistent in their non calls (or vice versa), then at least that is fair. If, picks are not going to be called by the way - that helps those teams with spread formations and the like......like, umm....m the Bills! -
Rex's plan to prepare RT Austin Howard to face Mario...

From your post, Captain, I assume that means you did not have surgery. One would THINK the point of having surgery is to accelerate healing rather...in other words, the doctors chose to perform surgery on him which MAY have meant his injury was worse than yours was Captain H but still they must have done it to make him better. That said, thanks BillsFanMD for your professional opinion. My own experience and observation is the same as the Captain's but I have never had surgery nor known anyone who has had it. I also didn't have a zillion personal trainers nor was my LIFE playing sports. So, one would figure the recovery process would be different for many reasons for a first class athlete. You clearly read what my question was: Can one GET BETTER and still be extremely active? My take on what you said is that one CAN get better....was I correct in that assessment? Us weekend athletes who have had groin issues learned that only non activity for like forever heals the damn thing. -RnJ

We usually have a few physicians on this board. Steve Johnson had offseason surgery on his groin and stated recently he is "at 90%". This obviously means he is feeling something still (pain?Tightness?) when he makes certain football maneuvers. My questions are: 1.) How confident can we be it won't get worse? Is worsening LIKELY, more likely, or simply "possible"? 2.) Would the Bills be wise to not use him much or at all until he is 100%? What is your unseen diagnosis doctors? Thanks and Go Bills! -RichNJoisy CNJBBB

I agree with Captain Hindsight - More specifically, close game but then Jets implode in 2nd half...... Bills 30 - Jets 10
-
I mostly agree Mike - having just watched the game but there was one longish pass where - I think it was aaron W had McKelvin-like coverage except he did have an eye on the ball - the receiver,,,I think it was harvin clearly pushed off to make the catch, By the way---has Mario done anything yet? maybe I have missed it or maybe it is just preseason.....

Ground Emerges As Tim Tebow's Favorite Target
richNjoisy replied to LandShark13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills defense wil be hard pressed to stop this type of assault. I mean, think how hard it will be to get out of the way of such prowess with their height and girth? -
yes - it seems likely to me the Bills are getting ready to sign someone and need the roster spot. not Lee Evans??

The entire AFC East (except the Bills) are having some major "issues" - The Cheatriots are definitely having issues with their O-Line And they have no pass rush to speak of. The plan, apparently, is to use their TE's even more this year than last for quick strikes. To stoip them the Bills will have to play up close and force Brady to go over the top - and quickly. Brady is obviously a great QB and can do this effectively but it is my impression that if he takes enough hits he will start to flinch and throw early and less accurately. That's how I see the Bills-Cheats game. If the Bills knock Golden Boy around enough then they will probably outscore them. So...I likey what I am hearing out of Cheatriot camp. Yep

would you mind changing your title? I thought he was injured. As to the subject matter, let's worry about this if he gets a penalty. Otherwise, this is small potatoes.... -
But, the Jets say, this is not a demotion or anything like that......Noooooo

And now....THIS from Jets camp: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/football/nfl/08/02/tim-tebow-jets-camp.ap/index.html?sct=nfl_t2_a3 The Bills defense is quaking in their boots they is....oh yes....the thought of having to tackle Tebow is making 'em shake.....

Which are you keeping an eye on in preseason
richNjoisy replied to aussiebills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Heading to the Promised Land from Joisy by myself JUST to watch the first preseason game Live ... so I do have some specifics to watch for 1.) First two defensive series (or maybe only one) - the push and pressure straight up by our new defensive line I am expecting 2-3 yards in the middle and more from the edges right away. 2.) How good is our middle linebacker? 3.) Gilmore in coverage 4.) If Merriman plays ........any sign of Lights Out? 5.) I expect Fitz for one series and a lot of spread formation - straight down the field probably 6.) Glenn vs Hairston on the left side.......Pears and all the others on the right. Backup centers.....good snaps? 7.) Easley - is he healthy.....? Is he getting open? Is he catching anything? 8.) Graham (see 7)....who else is catching the ball 9.) Young vs (gulp) Thigpen 10.) Is the new kicker getting NOTHING but touchbacks (note: he may be told to pooch it to the corners) 11.) The Battle between the Punters 12.) The fullback vs the H-back -

Fan Feedback on 3rd or 4th and short in 2011
richNjoisy replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you can, can you provide any additional information to your statement? Did the Bills fail using the Wildcat during the first 6 games? If so, which games so I can check this out. If it were later (games 7-16), again, point that out and, if you can, which games and how many times? if you are only going from memory, that's fine, but please make that clear since in your post your SOUNDED quite certain (based on stats and not your memory). Thanks WEO!
