  1. C'mon promo that's one punt. What matters are his total numbers which look incredibly mediocre. Look I hope YOU are right and the kids great. But, jeesh, you really think one punt on youtube means the kid is "competition"?
  2. I'm sorry kdiggz if I sound obnoxious here - but I thought I was clear that by "challenged" I meant a real challenge. The Harvard kid averaged 5+ less yards net per kick. The Punter I mentioned won the top punting award . My question was about quality of the challenge. His stats certainly suggest he would be someone of value in camp. One only needed to look at the roster to see the Harvard kid. I then looked up his numbers and , IMO, they were mediocre.
  3. I don't get it. Moorman is 38 and was losing his leg years ago (and hence the Bills released him). Now he is 2 years plus removed from being released and he (seemingly) has no competition? The Ray Guy award winner from college last year is sitting at home. Why do they not bring in a young strong leg (like Tom Hornsey)? Maybe they have someone they plan to pick up after a release in late August? http://rayguyaward.com/tom-hornsey-2013/
  4. This IS interesting if what you hear is correct, John. I ask myself, "what impacts the speed of the sale"? 1.) Financial and legal issues -based on what I have learned, read, and experienced, the Bills process DOES appear speedy. All the checkpoints seem to being met at the earliest date or so. This means the value of the team has been determined, documents are in order, etc. 2.) "acceptable" bidders need to be found. - again, this part seems done ALREADY. 3.) Bids are taken and then a winning bid is accepted* 4.) Winning bidder must be approved by NFL (24/31 owners) - I only see Trump as being at risk of "failing" this vote process. * I see 3 as being the really big unknown but the "quick sale process" SUGGESTS that a bidding war may not happen and that the Trust (group of 4) already have a favorite. My guess would be Pegula. This would mean that Ralph stipulated something having to do with the opinion of the Trust as to whom to believe when a prospective bidder states they will not move the team. Obviously, the chances of a higher sell price go up with a bidding war. So, my conjecture means Ralph was willing to sell the team for less than it might actually be worth as the result of a bidding war (as opposed to the assessed value which was shown to the bidders yesterday). Ralph may have concluded (correctly IMO) that the number the financial people came up with stating the current value of the Bills was "enough". Gordon Gecko would have disagreed with that sentiment of course. -RnJ What are you suggesting?
  5. Hey Dorkington - In almost every case, very little information is provided non-family members concerning a person's health status. This is BY LAW. There are, however, rare cases where someone rescinds that right and instructs his family members and healthcare providers to release some or all of the information. Jim Kelly has basically allowed the release of almost all his health information. I am sure he has not allowed them to release some of the "grittier" details (such as nausea etc) and there is really no need to discuss every detail of his treatment. I am saying this to try to reassure you as much as possible that the information , in Kelly's case, is amazingly accurate and there is little being held back. So, what we know is a lot right now: His first major set of treatments are done. He is being sent home because the treatment series is done and he is healthy enough to go home. This is not bad news. This is good news. Now, we (meaning EVERYONE) have to wait to see how well the first set of treatments worked to eradicate the cancer(s). I believe there is every expectation he will need a second round of treatments but I do not recall what the entire regimen is supposed to encompass. It is out there somewhere (perhaps even in this Thread). Lastly, several medical experts have chimed in to state that Jim's cancer while very serious IS treatable and they say can be handled effectively to prolong his life and may even put him into remission. So, my point is - him going home is good news. There has been no reports he has been placed on hospice care. If THAT occurs, then the news would be the worst possible in terms of his survival. So be happy for him he is out of the hospital . -RnJ PS: My wife is a hospital chaplain (RevNJoisy) and I have learned much of this from her- (God bless her)
  6. Years of losing plus too much time and endless discussions (I am just as guilty, folks) tends to make people forget much of the good and remember the bad. EJ had bad moments last year but jeesh he was rookie. This kid played tough against the Cheatriots and the loss was not on him. Against the Panthers, he led the team down the field to win the game. He was incredible in the Atlanta game - TWICE leading the team to victory only to have his veteran receivers fumble the lead and eventually the game away. It is way too early to judge the kid. Yes, the Bills can win this year without him playing "great" but there is every reason to be hopeful he truly IS a great QB. I am more worried about his health to be honest than I am about his future ability to be a great QB. I simply saw too many good things in his rookie season to not be hopeful. -RnJ
  7. The thing that drove me crazy about the "great" Bills defense last year was the number of HUGE run gainers (sometimes for long TD runs) that the defense gave up. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that most games are won or lost on the number of huge plays given up (particularly scoring plays). Quite often, last year's defense would stop run after run for little gain and then suddenly....a huge gainer (often right up the middle). It seemed to me that this was the case of a player (or players) out of position at a critical moment (or place). I heard a lot about that person being Kiko. I have not studied the film like some on these Board (I only keep the wins and erase the losses). So my CONJECTURE is that the Bills move of Kiko to the outside is one step to reducing the big run gainers. The second step should be to make sure the "new Schwartz" defense gives up fewer huge gainers. So, is this a Schwartz specialty? I realize it is the players that make the plays, guys but cannot the scheme make one more or less vulnerable to the big gainer? Anyone have nay clue as to how Schwartz' defenses rate in this stat?
  8. I do miss the "old days" when the Bills could easily pick up 1-2 yards on a run play even when the other team KNEW we were going to run. How many games would we have won last year with a great power run game? I figure more than just the Chiefs game.
  9. ........truly , truly sucked. http://www.cleveland...are_accura.html I am SURE Mel will be giving people who paid him a refund. Yeh, right. And , yes, I will be mocking away this time again next year. (Addicts need their "fix" (sigh) ) Also see the overall scores: http://www.thehuddlereport.com/scoring/top100.shtml
  10. THIS - I totally agree with this assessment. I LOVED Stevie but I could not help but notice he was not developing a rapport with EJ - sure EJ was hurt A LOT but, still, it was clear that Woods was EJ's favorite target. Stevie's forte is to improvise. It worked with The beard but was not nearly as successful with EJ.
  11. Evans - TB Clowney - Hou Manziel - Dallas (!) Bortles - Minn Mack - CLE Bonus: Robinson - Rams Watkins - Oakland Bills - Ebron
  12. Just keep writing, John. If you MUST read the negative reviews then look for constructive criticism and throw out the rest. I know , I know......but do you have a big enough garbage can?
  13. Or this simply means he has not announced he is aligned with any group. Look - if you want to believe Jim never spoke to any investors prior to Wilson's death AND that Jim was either lying or merely speculating when he made the same statement over and over (money is not an issue) - feel free. I do not believe it , however, and we will simply have to agree to disagree.
  14. Of course John - it is obvious (at least to me and I assume most everyone) that Jim Kelly has for a long, long time now, had a plan in place hence his repeated insistence, "that money will not be a problem". What has surprised me (and perhaps the Kellys?) is the number of other groups (apparently) that would like Jim to join "their team". My GUESS would be that Jim will LISTEN to other offers but will likely stay with the (for us unknown) "money group" he put together years ago. I am very confident Jim's major goal is to win the bidding war and to align himself with the ownership team most likely to keep the team in Buffalo. The Trump bit of things are probably only a distraction. I doubt he was ever part of Jim's original money team. People are understandably edgy wanting to hear definitive news. Always appreciate your stories, John! Keep 'em coming. -RichNJoisy (CNJBBB)
  15. Yes - but Mel Kiper has Matthews going to the Bills in his latest Mock. And WHEN is Mel ever wrong??
  16. You're joking, right? Because Pegula CAN own them both.
  17. I hear you on this and it is a valid concern - but - there are a few things that are clear about the man: Number 1 is he likes to make money. Number 2 is he likes to be in the spotlight. He will make money in Buffalo. Gobs of it. Not just on tickets, merchandise and TV/luxury box revenues but I understand he will get some huge tax breaks. Moving the team will be a risk and how many yachts DOES he need to ski behind? Number 2 is a good/bad scenario for Buffalonians - the bad is being , perhaps, the first owner based in London or Canada (now that I think of it...yawn...what makes Canada so "special" to Donald??) Or , perhaps, being the LA "savior"? On the good side, winning a Super Bowl and getting a SB ring? Priceless! So, I am ambivalent, yes, but I am intrigued by a Trump ownership.
  18. Matthews might fall to 9. The key is a run on the QB's - if that happens, things get very interesting for us as our pick approaches.......
  19. My 2 cents is - as an out of towner who (particularly of late with bad teams) - I often sell or eat a lot of tickets so paying for a season of cushions is not worth it to me right there. So, I'd vote no. As to the second item, I am a non smoker and really hate how often people light up near me. I do not, however, like the idea of banning them on a person in the stadium especially when the offense is an ejection. I would think a compromise would be if you are caught smoking, the pack is confiscated. Second offense, ejection. Obviously, I would like more policing of the stadium for smokers too. By the way, love the plan for radio in the bathrooms and separate beer lines making it easier to get water, pop, food for non (in the stadium!) beer drinkers. Outside the stadium, I take in beer intravenously.
  20. plenzmd1 - I believe Jay is talking about having "beer only" stands separate from the food concessions as a means to separate out fans that only want to get beer. And the Sports Bar (I don;t think you were asking about that but..) will only sell beer (and not hard liquor). As to the store, the doors will allow shoppers to shop without having tickets etc prior to kickoff. I assume the store will temporarily close just before kickoff to clear everyone out. Then after kickoff, the doors will open for fans inside the stadium. If you leave to the outside, that would mean you can't re-enter. Is this still confusing? I am disappointed, BTW, they do not expect to get WIFI working in the seat sections this year. It should not be that difficult networking- wise. They may be worried about piggy-backers outside the stadium or having security issues. Typical.
  21. In case this link has not yet been provided in this extensive thread: http://www.bucsnation.com/2014/4/4/5582546/trading-mike-williams-creates-more-questions-than-answers-for-the I, for one, am very excited about the potential of this addition. I am reasonably certain now that the Bills will not draft WR Mike Evans now but will, instead go Mosely/Barr, Lewan (Matthews), or Ebron. All quality players at position of need. My guess is Ebron.
  22. I do not think this is correct - Ralph could have left his estate in trust and authorized the sale of his assets and the proceeds to be distributed. Mary , his wife, is the one of the few who can inherit without paying taxes. Her being declared, "sole owner", for now means the team is hers and is not in The Trust - this may not mean any slowdown in sale of the team but it certainly does not speed it up. More likely, this buys time tax free and without as much urgency to find a "suitable" purchaser. I assume this was discussed at length between Mary and Ralph. She probably has her instructions and will sell the team and then distribute the proceeds. I am anxious to hear some analysis from lawyers and some people more in-the-know but I believe this is good news for Bills fans.
  23. You base this, right, on the PFF rating? r because he was cut by the Bears? Obviously, the Bills FO did not agree. So, my question for you would be, "Have you looked through film/watched the guy play?" If not, how can you be SO sure the guy is a "bad football player"? Just as an example of my point, last year the Colts gave up on Jerry Hughes, a former 1st round pick. He wasn't released per se but the trade was for a player the Bills were planning on cutting (White). He turned out all right wouldn't you say? I am not saying you are wrong - Williams may end up being bad but not only do the Bills disagree they paid him millions to come here. I am only questioning how certain you seem by not calling him mediocre but "bad".
  24. Do the Bills use a "zone blocking scheme" ? Apparently that is this guy's forte.
  25. I would have liked it if they signed him but, I do not even know if he ever really considered coming here. Nor do I know if the Bills were willing to go as high as the Redskins did. But, he would have been a legitimate #1 receiver and allowed the Bills more flexibility on the upcoming draft. Still, the "baggage" was a bit disconcerting (locker room cancer? Off field risk(s)? ) so, I am not devastated at not getting him. But, the Bills have a lot of cap space left and I do expect them to use it now to lock down players such as Darius and maybe Spiller. My 2 cents.
