  1. Do the Dolphins seriously think they can get two first round picks for Jarvis Landry?? Common man. He’s a pre madonna. At least by franchising Tyrod we have a captured audience (QB is more sought after than WR). IMO
  2. 5 picks...3 first rounders and 2 other picks. But you have the right idea. We mortgaged our future. Now’s the time to recoup what we lost. Albeit it’s an indirect path, but it’s a guaranteed two first round picks when someone matches our sheet for TT.
  3. Some guys get it. Some guys have the courage to look beyond the black and white words of the rulebook. I tend to look past the obvious (as you do). How else can we re-acquire the three first rounders we gave up for Sammy Watkins? Thanks Doug Whaley!! This, at least, puts us back in the race with two first rounders when another team signs TT from our franchise tag.
  4. Think of it like this: some people like to do word search puzzles and others prefer the NYT Sunday Crossword. One makes you think and the other can be done while sitting on the john. The choice is yours.
  5. You're in Australia. That's like 15 hours ahead of us. How did you even read my thread?...it wasn't even drafted yet.
  6. 'm really trying here but my patience wears thin. September 2018 and March 2019 are both in the future. Anything in the future is "to be" or "potential". The rule applies to "potential free agents" or "free agents to be" Therefore, Tyrod is a "free agent to be". This isn't neurosurgery.
  7. So if we don't pick up his option he is some how still allowed to play under center in 2019? No friggin way. That's the whole point of the terminology "free agent to be" and "potential free agent". He fits that criteria to a tee. Don't be hatin' on me just because you didn't think of this loophole.
  8. The purpose of the tag is to allow teams to retain prospective free agents longer than their contracts stipulate. It typically is used on one of the team’s best free-agents-to-be, in situations where a team wants to prolong their control of a player, or hold on to someone they feel they may not be able to keep otherwise. It’s not a player-friendly rule, generally, as it prevents them from hitting the open market. A player has little control over whether or not he is tagged. If we don't pick up Tyrod's option, then he becomes a free agent. So he clearly falls within the parameters of a "free agent to be". Once again, you need to play with the wording of the NFL Rules and push the envelope or the box.
  9. Why not pick his option up and then franchise tag him? I'd buy two first rounders for $16 million.
  10. Thank you. These guys don't see the big picture outside the box. Two first round picks.
  11. Absolutely. Getting two first round picks is worth it.
  12. We all need to think outside the box when it comes to building this team. That means taking an unconventional approach to obvious team decisions and strategy when it comes to dealing with other teams...especially QB needy teams like Denver, Cleveland, Jets and Cardinals (not to mention Pittsburgh, Jax, New Orleans and even New England). If Beane was to put the franchise tag on Tyrod this year, we would have suitors that would want to interview him. Not saying they will sign him without question, but with a limited pool of experienced QB's available, and Tyrod being a game manager type, chances are 75% that another team would sign Tyrod and we would reap the rewards. What rewards you might ask? A nonexclusive franchise tag involves the same salary offer as an exclusive franchise tag, only the player can negotiate with other teams. The player’s current team can match any offer sheet. If the old team declines to match the offer, it gets two first-round picks from the other team as compensation. This is the more commonly used franchise tag.
  13. Absolutely!! Ya mean the guy that called into Sal’s show and talked about how to make the team better? I think it was Chuck from Cheektowaga. Hire him now.
  14. Tootsie was awesome.
  15. Hope you had a great day Rich!!
  16. I personally think the title of this thread absolutely sucks and isn’t funny. Lock her up, make her do community service for 10,000 hours...but this title rubs me the wrong way. No offense.
  17. I had to laugh when they tied it with 30 seconds remaining...same when we lost in OT. At least it didn't have to come down to a shootout.
  18. I have invited you guys numerous times and all I get is silence...I'm beginning to think you've all looked at my kill ratio and don't want me on your teams. It may come as a surprise to you, but many of us in this thread are 40-50 years old, work our asses off every day to earn a living, stand for the anthem and love our country...the fact that we take an hour or two to play a game and chill out isn't out of the ordinary.
  19. Can still remember this. My grandparents had a house with a fireplace. When my cousins and I were little sprouts (4-10 yrs old) we would go over to my grandparents every Christmas Eve. My grandfather would show us the fireplace damper and there was a fuzzy piece of fabric stuck in the damper. He explained that Santa got his coat stuck in the fireplace damper plate the previous year and it stayed there every year since. Sure enough, the following year the fabric was still in the fireplace damper and I was amazed how we finally had a piece of his coat. It was still somewhat white with an orange tint but I assumed it aged over time. Fast forward 10 years or so and I watched a buddy installing batts of fiberglass insulation and I kicked myself in the ass for being such a dope. Good stuff.
