Sometimes it is not all about blame and fault. To me, Sanders' fall made complete sense just due a few basic realities that define Sanders as a prospect. It is a legit question weather or not he has the maturity or the "chops" to take on the type of leadership role that will earn the respect of a locker room full of adults that have moved heaven and earth to make their own names. He's never had to demonstrate that trait in his career to date. Sanders, at the end of the day, is just a kid that has never been in a situation where he was not the boss's kid. That is part of his resume that teams will include in their evaluation of him. As it should be. He's going to be tested and face a ton of scrutiny from teammates in the NFL. How he will handle that scrutiny is a question, and to some teams, it a question that they chose not to ignore. Can he lead a team without that security blanket, without his world famous dad standing behind him with that "don't mess with my son" aura hanging over the room and even inside the huddle? It is a significant unknown. Yes, the Deion shadow is a real thing. It is something that any team must consider. I would guess that most teams probably just scratched him from their boards, as they do with many prospects when then decide that whatever headache they bring just isn't worth it. Is that Shadeur's fault? Not even relevant. It is just the reality that defines him as a decision for teams to make. I can understand why many teams just chose out of that drama.

I could swear that they spent their top pick last year on WR. If you see Randy Moss or Marvin Harrison out there in round 4, just waiting for their moment, go ahead and score your "I told you so points now and name him". Maybe the reality is that the best use of their resources on day 3 was a situational player that fills a need they may have cost them a Super Bowl or 2. WR is NOT their problem. Why do you want to have to rely on having the ball last to win? How about you properly staff a defense that does not require last drive heroics for an MVP QB to win. Again... perspective. It is round 4! Your stud WR is not walking to that podium today. A valuable piece of a complex defense may have just done so.

Love you Joe! Happy 75th to our first tough as nails #12.

He was more than promising, he was good. Why do I immediately think of the 1988 AFC Championship game when I think of Burroughs? I can't remember exactly what it was, but it seems he was a goat of some kind in that game... and not in a good goat kind of way.

This is spot on. Take care of business vs Pats and Jets and today is almost irrelevant. -

Because the red helmets were always FUGLY! They were embarrassing when they were first trotted out in 1984 to give Ferguson an assist in trying not to throw pics. They were still FUGLY though the Super Bowl years with Kelly. They are best left in the trash bin with the CFL uniforms of the JP Lossman era (also the hideous red helmet look). Stay with the classy white helmets that are the hallmark of excellence on THIS era. -

On to Cincinnati... -
And now imagine if Heidi was Taylor Swift, you know... just for proper era cultural context.

I also think that the Covid season and some of the divisions within the team over that issue messed a lot with Tre's enjoyment of the game. He seemed like he reluctantly played in 2020 (but played great) and then the injury followed in 2021. I hope he finds his groove again in LA. He was just a really good, talented guy.

Live 2024 NFL Draft thread - Rounds 4-7 (Do NOT tip the Bills pick)

And that afwul ad that runs on a loop about Mahomes being Michael Jordan because he's calm when he runs on the field. WTF? That is the most embarrassing take ever. Perfect Audacity content. -
What if all this isnt about this year but next year?

If only the salary cap and the need to replace aging players with rapidly declining skills were not a reality, well then I might see your point. Since those factors ARE real, I believe Beane has done a nice job of embracing that reality and addressing it. Would you prefer that we give OBJ a bag of money for a year along with a key to the city? I would rather deal in the reality of an evolving roster. It never stops... -

Possibly because Beane knew he was not going to draft Worthy and the Chiefs would get him regardless. Why not pick up the extra third for your troubles. -
