Agree with everything you said, but we should ask ourselves very closely about who or what makes a GOAT before we use that word too loosely around the Chiefs. Especially after the stats you read off about Allen.

Torrence blew both blocks. That 4th and 5 was way worse than anything Mahomes deals with. The fans have no answers. So they just try to blame the leaders. The game was won when we were up 1 and driving in the 4th quarter to take an 8 point lead. I know this team and I know we would’ve scored that TD and started to put the game away. Then the refs and NFL screwed us.

It’s the stare of a man who gave everything he had, felt he did enough to win, and doesn’t understand why he didn’t win. He's going to do what he always does which is find a way to somehow get even better and give it all again next year.

What really sketches me out about it was that THIS was the game that our tush push was figured out. The game that everything was wrongly called short of a 1st down. What a coincidence. I’ve seen games where Reid ignores refs and Mahomes bumps into their shoulders as he walks off the field. I’ve seen Chiefs WRs taunt to the crowd behind a ref as the ref is staring at him two feet away. There’s a strange disrespect of the officials if you look closely. The way you would dismiss a subordinate.

They know fans are fans and will tune in regardless. They want the Chiefs to win because the only place left to expand the NFL in the USA is with the female audience. That's what Taylor Swift brings. Female attention. They want merchandise sales, and for the next generation, they want female flag football leagues. However, I'm sensing that the Chiefs were a 10-7 team this year they had to "overrig" for, and the NFL might be a little surprised at the blowback from fans. They covered up Spygate and Deflategate very well, they figured the Chiefs would be a breeze. Remember, 10 years ago if you were to post on a forum about cheating, you would get hit with the tin foil hat memes and "flat-earth" accusations. You don't get that anymore. The worst you get is that you're a "crybaby" or that the "Bills have no excuses!" Overall, very good developments that fans are waking up. And makes you question how far back it goes. Should Allen have 3 Super Bowls already? Is Jim Kelly the greatest QB of all time with 4 straight SB wins? How much of our reality was rigged to manufacture fake champions? How much of Buffalo sports history is a lie?

I always saw it more as the NFL being an authority type, and just like cops being so hard on teens having a bag of weed on them from the 1970s-2010s, the NFL was the same way on it's players.

I think he'll win but the voting will be extremely tight, as a slight to Allen. Something like: Allen - 18 votes Lamar - 17 votes Saquan - 15 votes Almost like half the voters decided they weren't going to vote for Allen, but since there was no other anonymous person to choose from, Allen wins on a technicality.

You literally just proved my point. "Prove it" and "I'll believe it when I see it" are the polar opposite of extrapolating future outcomes based on changing variables. You know, how every major business or oddsmaker bases their decisions. You then proceeded to list past outcomes. And I'm sure you're just as grateful for McDermott as the rest of us "McClappy".

There's a difference between two types of posters. Ones that can see variables have changed to allow more positive results than before, and others that are unable to see how changing variables can improve future performance. All one can do is improve on past mistakes. That's how success in human history works. The 19th century bridge collapsed? Improve the structural foundation and rebuilt. Plane crashed? Make sure to double check the widget is working during the checklist process. Bills have improved. Some posters just can't extrapolate the probability of future outcomes based on changing variables.

It's not that we're playing the 1999 Rams, it's that they think we're still the Dick Jauron Bills. They struggle to move on from 10-15 years ago. No amount of evidence allows them to get over their trauma and open their eyes to the new reality.

My opinion of McDermott is even higher than the most optimistic in this thread. I think he is a Landry/Shula level coach and Beane is an all-time great GM. Almost every move they make is sublime. Allen is Montana, a level above Mahomes who has already hit his peak while Allen ascends and ascends. The stats are there for anybody who looks. People zoom in on the Chiefs losses, but that's the final hurdle. An incredible difficult hurdle, and one that we have been on the razor's edge of climbing over. The faults that people point to (obsessively and compulsively) are often the faults of those they had around them, which circumstances did not allow them to move on from at the time (Leslie Frazier, Levi Wallace, Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, etc.) 5 years from now what I'm saying will be common knowledge. McDermott/Beane/Allen are our rewards for the SB losses, the drought, and the Pats. They will be on Mount Rushmore, and the haters.....God help them in a few years. May they find the strength to admit they were terribly wrong.

Even with those few extra games, Allen is top or very near the top. Regarding the hype around Barkley, it feels like hype. People were wowed by the reverse hurdle, which Good Morning America picked up, and the yardage numbers pop. But he's on a great team with lots of other weapons. I don't see why he should win MVP if Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, and others didn't. When I watch him I don't feel that I'm watching LaDainian Tomlinson and Terrell Davis, who you would need to plan your entire strategy around. It feels more like a great player having a great career year on a stacked team, in an otherwise disappointing career. If they give it to Barkley, I'll just assume they found an excuse to not give it to Allen.

I felt like his color commentary of "No! No! Noooo!" was unprecedented in sports history for a play of that magnitude. It's almost like it was a subconscious expression of "please good God no, I don't want Josh Allen making one of the best plays I've ever seen. Please let it be someone else". He then of course diverted the emotions of the moment to Mahomes/Kelce so he would not have to give the glory to Allen. He was awkward the rest of the broadcast, talking about his fantasy football team, his nephew (???), and giving Allen a compliment after the camera cut away from him during the handshakes after the game. Tirico made comments throughout the night subtly calling him out, if you listened closely. What's going on with Collinsworth is that he owns PFF. So he's heavily invested in advanced statistics. Well what do all of the worst 2018 Allen haters have in common? Their egos are invested in advanced stats. Those are the ones that had the worst things to say. So rather than just admitting they made a mistake and will learn from it, Collinsworth tries to downplay Allen throughout Allen's career. This behavior I call "shorting" similar to those who root for stocks to fall. Rather than investing money, they invest emotions and perceived reputation into seeing somebody fail. As that person rises, rather than cut their losses, they play these types of games. "God will prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies". That's exactly what happened Sunday night.

He's so tone deaf. They have a plan to make more money and they are just sticking to it, regardless of what their customers think. "Refs are better than ever!" "More games!" "More international games!" They learned they can blindly stick to a script and act aloof and the questions will go away.

Everything you said except the last part makes sense. I've come to the conclusion that Allen vs Mahomes is simply to be determined. It's neck and neck and the differences between them (the Super Bowls) have been a team factor, and not an individual factor. Fans REALLY struggle to separate the two. Like there is a real cognitive dissonance battle in people's heads, likely from media programming. But the answer is simple. Allen is only 28 and still progressing. Mahomes has stagnated AT BEST. Let's see what happens the next 2-3 years. People are too quick to the trigger on this one.

They showed him and McCaffrey on those goofy game previews on SNF last night, and I remember thinking "Whoa" looking at Allen juggling the football. He looked so confident he had an aura about him. McCaffrey on the other hand looked beaten down.

I think we'll beat whoever they put in front of us.
