Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!
Wayne Cubed replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I think the better question to ask is, having seen what Grey Worm was doing to the Lannister soldiers and the look he gave Jon, are we to believe he just let Jon live for 2 weeks while he waited for these Lords, that he had no allegiance to, to decide Jon’s ultimate fate? And that he also let Tyrion live for those 2 weeks considering he was most surely told to execute by his Queen, and then direct who would be the next ruler? Was Bran actually the correct choice? If we are to believe Tyrion that stories are what unite people was Brans really the best story? One could argue Sansa had the better story. She survived Joffrey, won the Battle of the Bastards, saved Jon snow, avenged herself of Bolton Ramsey and outwit Littlefinger. -

Meh, it was ok. Felt a bit predictable and very much a feel good ending. They still needed longer to set it up and develop what was going on with the characters. I think that would have helped but as they didn't have back story I'm sure they felt like the couldn't do it? So they rushed to get to the points they needed to. That's my only complaint really. If it could have been built out more and not rushed so much the last 2 seasons I would have been ok with them getting to the point they got to. -

I don't think anyone is saying that the burning of King's Landing wasn't likely. It wasn't a surprise as such. It was that they chose to get Dany to that point that she would do something like that. Yes, events happened that one would think would drive someone to possibly do what she did. The problem, for me, is they only showed the events, they haven't shown Dany's reaction and how's she's had to deal with these loses. One shot of her without makeup, isn't enough. And that's the problem, in previous seasons with the time to develop, you would see these emotions from these characters you understood their actions. Take for example Theon Greyjoy and the amount of time and effort the show put into establishing his psychological break down. The entirety of Season 2/3/4 was just that and getting you the viewer to understood his decent into this person called Reek. And from there on out you understood why he made the decisions he did and had turned into the person he was. Yes, there were signs that Dany could do something like what she did but she had always fought those thoughts, hints of it. For me, I just wanted this decent into the Mad Queen and her struggle with deciding to do what she did to be a bigger part of the show. Those kind of character developments have always been what's made Game of Thrones great. I'd honestly rather have had less of the battle scenes and more of the character developments these past 2 seasons. -

Overall the look and cinematography of this season I think has been top notch. Some of the best shots of the series. For me, I just can't get past what they've done with some of the characters: - How dumb has Tyrion become? Has he suggested or made the right decision in the past 2 seasons? - Arya has gone from confident revenge seeking assassin to scared/frightened fighter to courageous/sneaky killer of the Night King back to confident revenge seeking assassin to giving up on revenge - For how clever Varys is, I found it odd that he was so quickly found out and that he didn't see it coming because he has all these birds - Jon Snow has become a shell of his former self, his character has done very little this season except say "You are my Queen" and look blankly at whats happening in front of him - Cersei's story arc has been an odd one as well, can't put my finger on why though. I think there have been some nice character arcs and I don't mind that Dany has gone all Mad Queen, although think they could have used an episode or 2 to drive that home a bit more. -

Yeaaaaa... I’ll be glad when this is done. It’s been a rough past 2 seasons and the writing just hasn’t been great. It’s all a bit messy and rushed. It’s not where the plot lines have gone it’s how they’ve got there. Dany can go crazy, Arya can give up her revenge, Jamie’s moral compass can break and Tyrion can become an idiot but man these needed time to develop and breathe. Oh and nothing like the baddest, most evil women dying by some poor infrastructure! She dies just like extra #23! -

Whys that? How did her army contribute to ending the NK? Arya could have still killed NK without Dany and her Dragons... in fact the NK wouldn’t have had a dragon himself so it would have taken him longer to get through the wall and Castle Black. She could have first taken Kings Landing then turned her attention to the north. -

As I sit 2 episodes away from the end of it all I can’t help but think that if Dany didn’t listen to her advisors she would be better off. Everyone acts like Dany is this crazy women and yet if she just did what she initially thought she should do, what her instincts said to do, namely take her 3 dragons and destroy Kings Landing, she would be ruling Westeros now. Instead by listening to her advisors, which she’s been told to do, she’s lost 2 dragons and the bulk of her army. Not to mention the 2 advisors she trusted the most. -

Yes but the Azor Ahai... THE BOOKS... THE BOOKS ? As I've posted earlier, people just want the NK story arc to be the most important and since it's ended not the way people wanted, they are upset. -
Best Route Concepts for Third Down
Wayne Cubed replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of the route choices look like the ole "live to fight another day" conservatism that still remains in the NFL. It's odd. It's a lot like going for it on 4th down, that is slowly being changed. -
Whoops I mean Davis, haha, not sure why I typed Coleman.

And of that list there are a good amount of receivers who's stock is trending up. Ridley, Moore, Williams, Davis, Fuller(if he can stay healthy) and Agholor are all trending up. The only real busts on that list are Benjamin, White, Ross and Dorsett. That's about right in line for what you would consider success in the first round for a draft pick.

The Competition for WR6 on the Bills Roster
Wayne Cubed replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea for me before free agency and the draft I would have been pounding the phones to any of the teams seen to be rebuilding. So the likes of Tamp Bay(Evans) who are really tight up against the cap or Atlanta(Jones) who are also right up against the cap and Jones wanting an extension. As I understand it Green isn't available, Mike Brown has made that clear, but I certainly would have been calling. Unfortunately I think it might be a bit late now to target a trade as I would guess most teams would have wanted that draft pick this year. And since this draft wasn't high in WR1 talent there aren't any teams that upgraded in the draft and can now look to trade. I think if Atlanta does poorly this year, Jones could be on the trade market. -

Yea I agree, they took a swing at AB and it didn't happen. I suppose they could have been a bit more aggressive for OBJ but I think the price was too rich and he didn't want to part with his 1st round draft pick. AB obviously could be had for less than a 1st. I think the WR group is better than it was last year but it's still in the bottom half of the league. The Bills should be giving Allen players that give him the best possible chance to succeed. They've invested that much in him, he deserves it. I do think if they can't trade for a WR1 they'll grab one in this next class although in might be too little too late at that point, in terms of Allens development. It's no guarantee that a rookie WR can come in and be that guy, so you might be waiting another year after that. -
The Competition for WR6 on the Bills Roster
Wayne Cubed replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Before FA and the draft I had the Bills receivers as: WR1 - n/a WR2 - n/a WR3 - Foster WR4 - McKenzie WR5 - Jones I think now it's this: WR1 - n/a WR2 - Brown WR3 - Foster WR4 - Beasly WR5 - McKenzie WR6 - Roberts - I think they have to keep McKenzie because he offers something that those other receivers don't playing from the slot. He's the gadget guy/jet sweep WR. I've said all off season the Bills would need to trade for a WR1 as there just wasn't one in the draft. They could draft a WR2 and trade for a WR1. With regards to DK, they COULD have drafted him but the chances of him putting up WR1 type numbers this season are slim, a rookie hasn't done that since 2016 and this class isn't nearly as good as the past 2. But that's also the problem, they would be putting the pressure on a rookie WR to be the guy. The Bills should have either drafted a WR1 before or with Josh so that they could take their first year lumps together or before Josh got here. They didn't do either of those, so at this point I think they need to trade for a proven WR1. -
It was only off the top of my head haha Its funny that I forgot him because I wanted the Bills to draft him ?
-
I think you are picking nits here. Hopkins was picked 27th in the first round. Are Thielen, Lockett and Smith-Schustsr really WR1s?! I’ll give you Brown and Thomas. Hill was picked where he was because of the trouble he’s in now, not talent. He’s about to be out of the NFL because of it. Let’s see off the top of my head... Jones, Beckham, Evans, Agholor, Cooper, Cooks, Fitzgerald...
-
Whether or not this rookie class is bad is of course an opinion. It’s about projection and value. When evaluating the talent, it appears that this class lacks elite top end WRs. And that’s exactly what the Bills are missing. They have a bunch of WR2s and WR3s. Why after you have evaluated the talent would you reach and draft someone that you already have on your roster with less talent when there is a starting RT and other players you have a higher grade on? Because it’s something you think they need more and should prioritize? Do you know where the majority of WR1s are drafted? I’ll give you a hint it’s not between picks 25 and 67. No one says just wait til next year, maybe with a QB. You draft what’s in front of you, you can’t fix every problem in one draft.

Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!

I actually didn't have too much problem seeing it either, as I was streaming it and it's less compressed than what the cable companies do. I can see why some people probably couldn't see much. Yea I agree there, always have enjoyed the politics and the character development in GoTs moreso. I don't have a problem with the supernatural elements or anything like that, I just always thought you weren't ever going to get a lot of development out of a character who can't speak. It was an important story because it brings characters together but I've never thought it was THE story.
