Definitely drives home the subjective nature of the term 'franchise QB' haha -

So then there's like... 3 franchise QBs? Brady, Rodgers, and Newton? -
How many people will be pulling for Fitz and Chan?

I want us to win, because that's just the way it is. But I would also like to see those two in the playoffs, since I like them. -
Yeah, sorry, I was agreeing with your general sentiment, I have no idea where they should be ranked either, all I know is, we don't have success in certain areas that we do without some sort of effective blocking. Big change there from Marrone's squad/scheme. Now if only we could get the defense back...

I think everything is relative, personally. He made one legitimate mistake on the day when missing a good half of his offense, with ****ty weather, against a pretty healthy Dallas D. So yeah, I think Tyrod played well yesterday. But 'well', and 'quietly spectacular' are subjective terms I guess. I just don't understand the constant shitting on him by the crowd here. -

Tyrod produced 239 combined yards (passing, rushing, sacks) on a day where we were missing two starting offensive lineman, three of our top five wide receivers, starting tight end, and starting running back. Against a solid Dallas defense, on a really miserable day. The only beef I have with his game was the interception, and as far as I know he's instructed to throw it no matter what he sees on that play. You people are amazing. -

That's the difference between 12th and 20th in the league, though. And that includes said injuries, but also the defense playing poorly, special teams playing poorly, and penalties, that have all put the offense in a challenging position. Example, we're ranked 12th in average pts/drive this year. 23rd in avg pts/drive last year. That's with the fact we were ranked 5th in starting field position last year, and this year we're ranked 25th in starting field position. While the difference is 'only' 5 yards between the two, it adds up over the course of a game and a season. -

7 wins in 13 games with a **** show defense and a team decimated by injuries. While I'm tired of the injury excuse, it is legitimate. The defense though, is inexcusable. Our offense is better than in recent years, one would assume that our defense should have been relatively on par with the last couple of years, and with that assumption a decent overall team. Against the Jets we could be missing, due to injury*: RB1, WR2, WR3, WR5, TE1, RT1, RG1, DT1, DT2, DT4, DE4, CB1, CB2, SS1 (Only included players who rotate in regularly in the ideal situation) -

That is actually pretty reasonable and better than I thought I was seeing. -

Outside of the interception, he was pretty good today. No complaints here. The INT was pretty bad though, we should have had a TD on that drive, also clock management was an issue. Leaving ourselves with just one play from there was a bit of a mistake imo -
So who are you cheering for in the playoffs?
Dorkington replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan, Fitz and FredEx Otherwise I don't really care, as long as the Pats don't win the SB. -
The big time success of our run game, and how much time Taylor has to make up his damned mine before throwing points to our OL being relatively decent this year, imo. And that includes our new guards, and the rotating RT.

QB: How many top 10 QBs are there? Yes, I put a hint in the question. I have no problem with drafting the 'best' guy (EJ, while also gaining an extra pick), and getting a solid vet (Kolb), then the next year getting another solid vet (Orton, and again, they made the offer early, Orton chose from his offers late in preseason), and then pulling in another vet (Cassel) and another young developing guy (Tyrod). Everything they did there was pretty logical in my opinion. It's not like Aaron Rodgers was floating around, and the draft is a total crap shoot with QBs. Hell, even 'sure thing' Luck is looking more pedestrian these days. OL: Fully agree about some of the bad picks under Marrone... but then this year with Roman, we get Incognito and Miller, and Mills has been relatively solid considering he was a street FA. Definitely a mixed bag there. I'm wondering how much Marrone influenced the OL moves, because this year's moves were solid all of a sudden. RB: Brown was actually relatively productive when he got on the field, he just cocked it up with really bad timing. No problem going for him there, considering how injury prone FredEx and Spiller were. And now, new offense... we get McCoy, Williams, and Gillislee, who all look fantastic. Meanwhile FredEx, Brown, and Spiller are doing relatively nothing elsewhere (though FredEx is heading to the playoffs, good for him!) Defense... Hughes is an obvious win. We got a good year out of Kiko and turned that into McCoy. Picked up Graham who was awesome for us before this year. Ditto for Robey. Now we have Darby as well. We re-signed Hughes, and extended Kyle. All good moves. And the interior D backup players are actually pretty solid. Brown and Bradham also looked really good before this year as well. In fact, on paper, we still have a really good defense, minus some LB depth issues. But the new scheme has not gone well, and it's looking likely we'll have to make some major changes somewhere. I just can't see how Whaley is the failure people paint him as. Most moves he's made make a whole lot of sense. Sometimes they don't work out. That happens. But more often than not, imo, he comes out looking good. This is the most talented team the Bills have had in a very very long time. Defensive coaching, injuries, and the new lockerroom identity are what's holding us back.

Eh, I think he'll grow into the throws... he's already making multiple great throws a game, including today's victory. Not saying he's perfect, but he's got a solid foundation to build on.

I like that we had some good individual efforts! A little annoyed by how many risks Tyrod took with his body. A little sad (but not really) that we hurt our draft position. Fully agree with this. EJ is a lower tier starter, which generally equals a decent backup. There's a lot of backups in the league that have never, and will never be good enough to be a starter.
