RIP Buffalo Bills Captain of their defense in their Championship years of '64 and '65. A Great football player and member of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame but a better person and family man, who like many Buffalo athletes remained in Buffalo (Hamburg) his entire life after football and left a great legacy with his children and grandchildren. He was the leader of the Bills' defense that led the team to what are still its only titles in franchise history: the 1964 and '65 American Football League championships. Jacobs was known for being one of the smartest players on the field in his day, knowing where to be at all times. He called the plays, not the coaches. There are way too many accomplishments to mention but here are a few....If you have a story to share please do. Otherwise google him and learn about his passion for life, football, faith, family and all things Buffalo. Harry was a key contributor to the success of the Bills in the ‘60s, helping lead the team to four straight playoff appearances (1963-66) and two consecutive AFL Championships (1964 & 1965). He played in 91 games for the Bills over eight seasons, and had eight interceptions during his Bills’ career. Jacobs is the only player who played in the very first and the very last game in the American Football League, and is one of only 20 players who played throughout the AFL’s ten-year existence (1960-69). With Mike Stratton and John Tracey, Harry filled out one of pro football’s best linebacking units, which played together for 62 consecutive games from 1963 through 1967, a professional football record that may never be broken. The AFL built its popularity on wide-open passing offenses. The Bills’ biggest strength was a talent-laden, punishing defense. Buffalo allowed the fewest points in the league in 1964, ’65 and ’66. The Bills went 17 straight games without allowing a rushing touchdown, from the middle of the ‘64 season through the eighth game of ’65. That still is the longest such streak in pro football since 1933. The crowning achievement for the Bills’ defense was its 23-0 victory over the San Diego Chargers in the 1965 championship game. The Chargers were the highest-scoring team in the AFL, led by Hall of Fame head coach Sid Gilman and Hall of Fame wide receiver Lance Alworth. For over five decades he has been a Christian, a successful community leader and businessman, who has served in many leadership positions including: the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg, member of the Small Business Administration (SBA) National Advisory Council; vice-chairman of the Greater Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of Hilbert College. Former Governor Mario Cuomo recognized Harry’s dedicated service to New York State’s small business community, by naming him the ”Small Business Advocate of the Year in New York State”. Mr. Jacobs you are in a much better place now. RIP

I am not sure what is more amazing.... McDermott’s calculated and masterful way he was able to pull this off.....OR your pure geniios for figuring it out and posting here for us all to witness. Kudos my friend!! Or this ...... what you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

I hear you bro. That is paunful. I was at Delilah’s in Chicago (side note: BEST Bills bar in the country Modeled after the old Pink Flamingo and my regular place to go for years. Louder and crazier than being at the game. Kid you not. Anyhow..... ‘miracle’ happens and I was the opposite of you. Told everyone it would be called back in total and utmost confidence. When I came out of the bathroom I was devastated and it still hurts ??? That is freakin’ hilarious! disclaimer: I also do not advocate violence. ?

Brandin Cooks Signs New Deal With Rams

I get what you are saying but I think if you pay real close attention the MCBeany team is building this thing long term. In other words, you don't go sign a big name very good but not great free agent when your team still needs a proven QB and a lot more talent to compete. They are freeing up cap space while building/adding talent so when we are much closer to competing for a SB, then they can make those key free agent signings. -

Wow. Deep league if someone is picking Ivory. Perhaps he gets the goal-line touches. -

I respectfully disagree. You seem to have no clue how important PR is to the NFL these days. Additionally you factor in the current regime did not trade or draft for shady and wants people with character. Then you factor is we have the only woman owner in the NFL, the Ray Rice situation and oh the $10million dollars and the 30-year old RB too. And the new Bills regime (in case you haven't noticed), pretty much only talks about building long-term sustained results. They have basically admitted its going to take time to do this and a 30-year old RB and a project QB do not equate to competing for a SB this year (or probably next). Sorry. I'm an optimistic fan too. But listen the what McBeany and Co. say. Additionally, if you read this story, the burglars took over, yes over $80K in cash. Who has that kind of cash in their house? I don't know, but I would bet the people who took it knew it was there. Or do we think they just got lucky and picked the right house?? -

She was pistol whipped. That was part of the scam. What is left of your brain cells to suggest this? Most of these scenarios are on the level with Chris Ivory paying someone to do it. He had every motive. Perhaps it was Chad Kelly. JEEZ people. -

I am with you and I totally agree. On the other hand and this is pure speculation (obviously), it is possible Shady will never play another down in the NFL. Not predicting this, just saying it is possible. Or even a year. I also would not be surprised if the Bills cut him. They have to certainly at least be considering other options for this year (at this point in the process). When you are planning for a season and starting training camp in a matter of days, they have to. And by the way $10 mil is a lot to pay for this situation. Soooo, let me get this straight. She had someone pistol whip her to that extent to get back at Shady? Oh, OK. Thanks for straightening that out for me. -

Quote.... 5 hours ago, JerseyBills said: Just 2 weeks prior in the neighboring town of Milton,GA... https://patch.com/georgia/alpharetta/cash-jewelry-taken-during-violent-home-invasion-alpharetta I think she is assuming McCoy was behind this, obviously she has resentment towards him and wants to see his downfall, again,I just can't see him being this stupid and sloppy... I post this just to show these things happen all the time and right next door just weeks ago...Lets all relax and wait for thr official investigation to conclude.." Not a great post or example. If you read this story. They stole over $80K in CASH plus jewelry etc. That reeks of an inside job. Your a robber and you decide to rob someone and wow you get lucky they happen to have a ton of cash in the house. Additionally, statistics say that most murders and abuse like this happens from someone they know, not a complete stranger. I am Not saying the facts are all in, just that the direction this is headed is not looking good at all. Very shady actually. -

I respectfully disagree. The list goes on and on for other teams. The Pats had Hernandez, the Panthers Ray Carueth, the Ravens with Ray Rice, the Cowboys always have an endless list. I am disappointed but 1). McBeany and Co. are trying to build long term anyway. 2). We are still a couple years away from competing for SB. 3). It SUX big time but actually comes at a good point in the offseason as we can get someone else and have a RB by committee approach and have significant depth. Go Bills.
