Another tackle possibility bites the dust.
Green Lightning replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Threads like these have been too many and there's more to come like it. Bottom line is there will be no tackle signed until Buddy and Chan size up Bell, Merideth and the rest of what we have on the roster. We're going with what we have and everyone on TSW will just have to get used to it. -
It was a crushing mistake, but let's move on and let Leodis move on. We don't need him to lose his nerve or confidence. He's a spectacular return guy.
-
I think it's common for converted DE's called 3-4 syndrome. It's often followed after the player says "who's covering that guy....doh it's me...."
-
He may have jammed the shoulder when he jerked his arm back after assuming a three point stance.

Here is a hint Trent is the starter

BTW - Not one sign of Darth Ice in this thread. You guys think he's okay or should be concerned and reach out to him???? -
Here is a hint Trent is the starter

Not much drama here and the PFT article states the obvious but very succinctly. We'd all love to see a new exciting QB in town. But the FO had it's reasons for not doing that. And the only way that makes sense is to see if Trent has it in him. We'll know soon enough. -
Watch the first NE game again and tell me how well he did. He played between two rooks, then a rook and an unknown, than another unknown, etc. He anchored a line, that despite "fresh off the street that week" players still produced a 1,000 yard rusher. He and Levitre were the only two who played every game. But other than going back on revisionist interpretations, what's more important is how he looks now. Suffice to say if he's starting this year, it's because people who have forgotten more about football than you or I will ever learn, made the determination that he's our best bet at the position. As I said, he's not an all pro - but your toss off of him as "joke" is specious and unfounded.

favorite not best Bill players ever

Waddy Harvey. You just have to love a guy (DT) named Waddy. Oh, and.... Marlin Briscoe Jim Braxton Mike Stratton Robert James George Saimes Ron McDole -
Hope you're right Hossage. Thanks for the post.

Likely you didn't watch any of the games last year. Hangartner held his own against some pretty good NT's. He's not all pro but he is far from a "joke" as you put it. He's a good player and will provide great depth and can start if need be. That is a pretty good person to have on your team. If Wood is better, play him. It doesn't make the other guy a joke.

Gailey weighs in on the 3/4 defense
Green Lightning replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really as we were in the 4-3 for awhile at that point and it was painfully obvious our guys were too damn small and had nothing left late in the game. This is a rebuild and one that will make this team bigger and stronger. -
Good one.....

Troup is in the house, he just signed (w/ Link)

Yes, and ......Yes. -
Explain Jay Ratlif? He's uber effecdtive at NT at under 310#.
-
Not true. Teams would like a NT to plug a two gap, occupy two OL while LB's buzz around and flatten running backs. If a NT can do that at 314# they don't care what he weighs. Troup was 350# put lost the weight to play every down. He can afford to put on some weight, but the guy is all lower half - his legs are as big around as I am. If he can do the job at a lighter weight, that's fine. it's not just about size. Power and jump are more important. Many of the guards and centers he'll face go about 330#.

Although this is a pretty succinct post...and I agree 1,000%.

Well the dog made me laugh every time I saw it - I think it led to more succinct posts.

Lou, the quality of your posts have suffered since you changed avatars. Bring the dog back!!!!

Benefit of the doubt for Nix / Gailey

I did. Loved the last line....his job is to win. Let's go Bills! -
Benefit of the doubt for Nix / Gailey

Reasonable argument but I agree with Carolina Bill. The guys on our OL roster need a year under a real coach and the same cast of characters from week to week before they can be fairly evaluated. I said defense this year because it's true the draft was about equal between Off & Def, we went Def in the critical 2nd & 3rd rounds. So no OT and QB but NT & DE. I think that changes the other way next draft. -
The Buffalo News: Chan Gailey the Fundamentalist
Green Lightning replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It'll be fun to have a football team built to deliver righteous ass kickings to other teams. It is time to crush our enemies- drive them down before us and listen to the lamentations of their cheerleaders! -
Seems like a major disincentive to win 11 game to me.

Benefit of the doubt for Nix / Gailey
Green Lightning replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the plan is to make the Bills a run and stop the run team. Big, strong and tough and to make the Ralph an unenjoyable place for opposing teams. To do this, we need to stop the run first and that is why the FO is going to a 3-4 and putting most of the attention on the defense in the first year of the rebuild. And it makes sense. If the worst coaches and worst OL in the league could win 6-7 game a year, it standa to reason a quality, proven, offensive coach like Gailey - with a healthy, albeit marginal line and QB- can produce points. He's done it everywhere he's gone. Our offensive talent is better now than it was last year. Defense this year, offense next year. We had 19 guys on IR last year and countless combinations in the OL, no real OC and we still prodced a 1,000 yard rusher. Give the young guys on the OL this year to see what they have and next year act on the QB and any other OL problems, be it draft or FA. We don't need an all world OL this year because they are going to be run blocking for the most part. That is their thinking and they are sticking to it and not running scattershot to fill all the holes they have by mortgaging the future. Gailey is down with this and merely asked for one thing which he got .....his scat back and homerun threat. This year is about the D.
