  1. What is so difficult to get about the pick? Because Spiller was the best player available and finally gives us a real threat that other DC's will have to account for. The guy has 21 touchdown runs of more than 50 yards!!!!! Let's see, from the LOS on the Bills, we currently have...oh year, zero players who have done just one TD run. The kid is a game changer and other DC's will have to gameplan for him. THAT"S WHY!!!
  2. This is more about Spiller than our FO. I think everyone should just chill out. Spiller will be in camp soon enough. Likely the hold up is guarenteed cash and contract length. Take the time and get it done right.
  3. You're forgetting the Bills are only half the equation. The rapid signing of pur other draft picks tells me Spiller's group is rejecting the slotting system and asking for more. So even if the FO wanted to "set the trend" as you suggest, they may not have had the option. Being first isn't alwYs the best way to go. These guys will get it done.
  4. Whoa Sparky, calm down. If that's all it takes for you to fly to the red zone you're in for a long and bumpy life on the TSW. You're going to run into fans who don't think like you and you debate them. You're going to run into Trolls who just always think things are in the sh*tter. No need to bottle rocket on a harmless post like Lybob. He did't personally attack you. It was you that jumped to the personalization and insult. Be better than that. Now to your OP. There's a lot to be excited about and I think we finally have a coach and FO that has a clue about football. I think we have some talent and we are moving towards being a bigger, stronger, tougher and mentally more sturdy team. We have some holes and we play in a tough division. My hope is we see continual weekly improvement and make sure that every game, win or lose, we make the other team remember that the Ralph is not a fun place to play for visitors. I say we are looking around 8-8 this year. That's a great acheivement year one of a rebuild.
  5. Especially when the Wang is 6'5" and 300 plus pounds....... It could have been one of the greatest TSW moments however.
  6. I'll resist pounding on your for your incredible acuity on this, but I would blame the damn Raiders before I'd blame our FO. They gave the # 8 pick, Rolando McClain, a 5-year - $40 million contract with $23 mil guaranteed. The Jags gave the #10 pick, Tyson Alualu a five year $28 mil deal with $17.5 guaranteed. If you're the Bill, you wan to be closer to the Jags number and not the whopper deal the Raiders gave McClain. If you're Spiller's agent, you're pushing hard for close to $40 mill or more. $12 mill is a big swing from #8 to #10.
  7. Hey, feel free to walk up to the guy and tell him he's soft....TSW will gladly discuss the outcome.
  8. Good post. But I'd like to see 4th quarter statistics. It seemed we could not get off the field at the end of any game. We got pushed around when we really needed a stop.
  9. Well, short of calling him an idiot....(afterall, if the team will give you stupid money take it) I would have to agree, for the most part, with your analysis here. On Defense, I happen to think stopping the run and a pass rush ourweigh's everything else. On offense, generally the QB rules. There have been teams who win it all without a great QB but rather a strong line and running game. Bottom line, as the Giants proved a few SB's ago, even great QB's look pretty ordinary when they are on their *ss.
  10. I was going to post a similiar thread for those attending practices but why start another. I'm really interested in Torrel Troup. I see us playing a hybrid 3-4 with KW at the nose but I'm really anxous to see if Troup is the real two-gapper beast we need. I didn't get a ton of info from our good TSW posters (although thanks for posting guys) so I'm reaching out here. Anyone seen him practice?
  11. I think you don't get your wish. We may be in last place, but I don't think it will be by much.....we somehow won six games with that nightmare of a OL and putrid couching. It's hard to think we can finish worse than last year. Still a top 10 or 12 draft pick is likely.
  12. You don't go from 0-60 overnight unless something happened that we are not privvy to. Yesterday he was welcome, today the door is shut. I suspect AS must have tried to negotiate futher or tried to trigger a side deal and the FO is telling him to screw.
  13. I think TG has been right a lot more than he's been wrong. I think many of us share the view that we may not rack up wins this year but we will show steady improvement and build with young, talented and tough players. So Tim is just saying we are on the right path but we are not as good as the other three teams in our division. I think that is a reasonable position. I personally think we can handle Miami, but we'll see.
  14. You absolutely shouldn't apologize and no inference was made about you having an agenda. You wrote the story as you saw it and we're just reacting to one of the individuals quoted. So I don't apologize for dismissing Freddie but clearly, I am not saying you are trolling for negatives for any agenda. The body of your work stands for itself and is appreciated. Just sayin......
  15. That's how you tell a football guy. Love the accents on Buddy and Chan. Reminds me of old school ball....line up and kick the crap out of the guy in front of you and good things happen. At the very least our guys won't be "small and fast" and get B'slapped all over the field in the 4th quarter anymore.
  16. I don't take exception to honest criticism but we're talking Smerlas here. Not honest, just relentlessly corrosive and negative for decades. Im just saying the big story would be if Smerlas had something good to say. You're correct that it's been a brutal decade to say the least. But Fred was a hater during good times. I just don't think he's credible. I don't take exception to most NFL writers who take shots at us. We have a lot to prove. I don't like ill informed pundits who just say what everyone else is saying without thinking on their own.
  17. Excellent point. Seems hard to justify.
  18. I'm hearing them too! Anytime a guy drops 30 pounds you gotta wonder if he's "stopped" taking something and not just what's ailing him. Either way, what a nightmare it would have been if Buddy listened to all the hand wringers screaming for a Gaither trade.
  19. Maybe we're talking trade with Pig Ben and he wants to check up the UB co-eds.
  20. I don't think it all three will be on the field that often. You'll see two back sets with Spiller moving and used for the short passing game, slot recievier and some running plays. Lynch and Jackson will split the heavy running load. They can use all three as a change-up or wildcat formation to keep defenses on their toes. But as you pointed out, Chan has forgotten more then most of us will ever learn about such things. I'm just excited to see what he does.
  21. What the Hell does that mean? Are they cutting him loose? That's what he wants and we'll get nothing for him? Maybe it's just a message to AS to get in asap. Any of you guys know what the Hell this means?
  22. JW. Freddy has earned his POS ranking with many of us over the last few decades. We'll never hold him in high regard and frankly his statements about the Bills carry little weight. It's not so much the message as the messenger. I doubt it's his thinking anyway and he's not just regurgitating stuff he's heard. So when someone is quoted who has a long record of dumping on the team and never has anything good to say about them in decades, why would you be surprised he'd dump on the team now and more importanly, why should we care what he thinks...even if he has it right? It would be like interving Jerry Sullivan and being stunned that he has nothing good to say about the team. We know what to expect with both these guys. I used to call it rolodex journalism when I taught some college J classes. You know who the Yea's and Nay's are and you just fit them in when you need a yea and a nay in your story. Your work is not so structured that way but in this case, it just fit the formula. Freddie is a hater and self promoter. So anytime you use him in a story there's going to be a certain reaction from many of us. BTW - thanks for taking part in this board and putting yourself out there. I hope we can get TG back but honestly, I don't blame him for bailing.
