  1. They got to work with what they have. The longest march begins with a single step........
  2. I've seen precious little penetrating on his part. It that's his strong suit, the ride is over.
  3. What you say is mostly true and as I noted they deserve some criticism for it. But I disagree that little can be done in the time we're in. It's true that the replacements are not as good as the present starters. But that's just for now. They have upside the starters don't have and need to play to improve. I'd move Stroud, Whitner and others to capture some picks and lose Green and a few others and play the rooks. Don't lose 10 to 12 games with vets and has-beens, play your draft picks and be better for it next year.
  4. Thanks John, I have to think both Nix and Chan are somewhat surprised at how little talent we have now that it's the real season. They can be criticized for that but it's what moves they make in the next few weeks that will be the measure of what kind of FO we really have.
  5. Yikes, how short memories are. Is the the same defense that couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs and got steamrolled in the 4th quarter weekly? The same D that couldn't stop the run on it's best day? The same D with "small fast guys" who got worn down the longer the season went on? The same D that gave opposing QB's zero pressure? I NEVER want that defense back - period. Perry's doing better in NY because he's got better talent. There is no great time to switch schemes, but I argue this was the right time. While we didn't have great 3-4 personnel to build on, the fact is we didn't have any good personnel to build on period. We don't have much talent and now is the time to build from scratch. We are going to suck this year and I keep saying it....don't lose with the same lame talent and veterans. Play the kids and rooks and take our lumps this year. We'll be better for it next year as we get in better players.
  6. Thanks for the info. I was doubting the FO would jump and salute because of Sullivan. John, any info on whether or not we'll see more personnel moves/trades? I just as soon they lose with rooks and young guys than to lose with veterans.
  7. Agree that it's a risk to jumble the line midseason but this season is about personnel changes. I don't think we have any other choice but to change up the line. I disagree with your summation of D. Bell. He gets better and better the more he plays. He is likely our LT for years to come . Agree on Hangartner .
  8. I'd say that has been my observation as well. Freddie has a knack for usng his blockers and finding open space.
  9. I think they wanted to eyeball the merchandise for themselves before making changes . They knew this season was going to be a lost one. I hope the purge continues.
  10. I say some of those players you think we should go and get may already be here. Clean house and play the rooks and young guys now! We'll be better for it next year.
  11. I watched AM many times in summer camp and was impressed with his jump and speed off the line. That quickly got tempered by how easily our bad tackles manhandled him. He's a speciman but just not a football player. He tries but I don't think he gets the game. All in all, this could rank as one of the worst of our #1 picks. I cringed when they made the pick when there was so much talent on the board to choose from. But we can't look back and I have no idea how long we give the guy a chance to improve.
  12. Yikes you are way off the mark! What we have now is not good, but it sure as Hell doesn't make me wax nostalgic for DJ and Perry. That team would have crashed this year as well. Look, we have to tear down to rebuild. Years of DJ's mediocrity are coming home to roost this year. If we lose every game this year and we are playing young guys and rooks, I'm fine with it. Just don't lose 12 to 14 games with vets who need to go and are not in the long term plans.
  13. You have to bow to that kind of managment. Get picks for fading vets and retool yearly. We are far from that but I think moving Marshawn is a step towards that thinking. Extending Kelsay was not. I, for one, agree we should move a safety to one of the teams that lost theirs and consider moving Evans while he as value.
  14. I have gone over this a hundred times and I always come up with the same conclusion. He's gotta go and play a younger guy with upside and more speed. I just can't understand the extension on any level. He's a liability on the field.
  15. I'm not a Donte hater. He's a solid safety. It's not his fault he was a #8 pick. That said, a package of Donte and Stroud for a 3rd would be fine with me.
  16. Nice to see you posting again....and your thoughts are spot on.
  17. I say exactly what you say in the same arrogant way and you call me a jerk. Okay, now you know what you come off like. We're fans and you are a self proclaimed Bills martyr.
  18. Picks can be bundled to move up and to sweeten a deal for a trade for a quality starter. Don't scoff at picks. It's served NE well. Why not move Evans. He has value and no character issues like Lynch. He'd fetch a 3rd and a conditional pick or a straight up deal for a starting LB or DE.
  19. We could have EFFECTIVELY, not ACTUALLY drafted Brady, Oher, Cushing instead of who we did. BIG difference. And I'm right.
  20. Likely they wanted to see what they had and why move a back if the other two aren't going to do the job. There's never been any rush, but now is the time. He's been featured a few weeks. He's a good back and he's been on his best behavior. That can all change quickly. It's done and the running game will be better having two instead of three backs. Now let's move out some other bodies and truly rebuild.
  21. Hey, not funny to do the "I'm out" thing.... That said, excellent post and could have stood on it's own as a thread starter.
