  1. The pricing structure and strategy is akin to taking a second mortgage on your house. If that is truly the wave of the future, ordinary fans will be forever elminated from attending a game. I hope it does fail and the stadium is half empty.
  2. I won't pretend to have thought about this as much as you and the respondants have positon by position. But I do believe wholeheartedly that our offensive production will be greatly improved by having offensive coaches that actually have a clue. Your point about slant patterns is a perfect example. It always baffled me why other teams were cutting us up on slants and somehow we never could figure out how to execute one ourselves. I remain damn excited to see how Gailey uses a Tight End who can run and catch like Nelson and how Spiller gets in the mix. I do remain concerned about our tackles for all the reasons stated on TSW. While Meredith and Bell may be the answers, injuries could derail our improvement in year one of the rebuild. I look forward to your defense analysis.
  3. Excellent. I actually had a chance to watch Troup play once or twice in his college days and thought he could be a beast. Carrington just seems to be a talent - big, fast and with upside as a pass rusher. I also appreciate your thoughful analysis here. It's good to hear your reasoning for why you think some players are doing well rather than just hearing 'they looked good" etc. Thanks again.
  4. Yup., you got it right Thurman. Also, saving $8 mil on a player in his twilight is just a no brainer.
  5. I have to question why keep a fullback at all if you have RB's we do and the use of CJ in the slot, on the move and in a possible wildcat formation. As for Hardy, from what I'm reading he's not getting separation needed to play as a starter, but I think he sticks for another year.
  6. Umm, it's training camp and they are pros for Gods sake. This reminds me of my neice who repeatedly had chances to steal the basketball from opposing players but told me she didn't want to make them look bad. I gave her buck a steal and that solved that! TC is about exposing the best and worst of the players so they can improve or move on. Go ahead and cheer and clap all you want.
  7. Thanks Thoner. I can't tell you how good it is to have you and others out there reporting for TSW. I'm very interested in the progress of Troup and Carrington. I hope they can figure out how to get some production out of Maybin. I agree with you that he's not starting linebacker material yet.
  8. Agreed. I like AS and would have liked to have him around. But simply put, he's not worth $8 mil a year. Especially moving to a new position. Look, we in a total rebuild. No sense in putting in a guy at that money in the downside of his carreer. Let the new guys play and improve. It was a smart move and we could use the money for something else that may become available.
  9. I'm in Rochester so I can pick up WGR in my car and listen to Howard in the morning. I like the show. Shopp and the Lapdog are on in Rochester on 950 AM. Great, except the show is unlistenable. Arrogant and like pointed out earlier in this thread, they really hate their jobs and it shows. Shopp is pr*ck and hates the Bills and football and loves to ridicule some of the less then informed callers. I'd love to go head to head with him without him having the volume and on-off button control. He's a bully and egocentric. So don't listen you say.... I don't and it's a shame that there is no other local sports talk that cover the Bills.
  10. This needs to happen. Saban deserves to be on the wall.
  11. Thanks for the camp reports to all who post. For those of us who can't get there it's great to hear what you have to say. I've been really interested in the progress of Troup and Carrington and it's great to hear some fan feedback. I hope to return the favor someday.
  12. Hey Buffalotone - where's the dog? You and Milehilou had the best avatars and gave them up!
  13. I think it's because it's hard to wear white helmuts in the NFL.
  14. Jesus Beavis, calm the Hell down. You had your rant and frankly not much light shed here. Shobel was accounted for by drafting lots of LB's and signing a few more. And like it or not Spiller is the one and only player we have that other DC's will have to account for. He has 21 TDs of 50 yards or more! He's the only game chanager we have and I'm thrilled we got him (yes he'll be in camp soon enough) and we will have a coach who knows how to use him. I don't know who posted this thought but I agree.....why in world did you think Buddy coud have turned this team around in one year? We're full of holes and right now we're seeing if the guys we have in camp can fill them. Let's watch and enjoy the process instead of going off like a bottle rocket because a player was released or is unsigned.
  15. What is so difficult to get about the pick? Because Spiller was the best player available and finally gives us a real threat that other DC's will have to account for. The guy has 21 touchdown runs of more than 50 yards!!!!! Let's see, from the LOS on the Bills, we currently have...oh year, zero players who have done just one TD run. The kid is a game changer and other DC's will have to gameplan for him. THAT"S WHY!!!
  16. This is more about Spiller than our FO. I think everyone should just chill out. Spiller will be in camp soon enough. Likely the hold up is guarenteed cash and contract length. Take the time and get it done right.
  17. You're forgetting the Bills are only half the equation. The rapid signing of pur other draft picks tells me Spiller's group is rejecting the slotting system and asking for more. So even if the FO wanted to "set the trend" as you suggest, they may not have had the option. Being first isn't alwYs the best way to go. These guys will get it done.
  18. Whoa Sparky, calm down. If that's all it takes for you to fly to the red zone you're in for a long and bumpy life on the TSW. You're going to run into fans who don't think like you and you debate them. You're going to run into Trolls who just always think things are in the sh*tter. No need to bottle rocket on a harmless post like Lybob. He did't personally attack you. It was you that jumped to the personalization and insult. Be better than that. Now to your OP. There's a lot to be excited about and I think we finally have a coach and FO that has a clue about football. I think we have some talent and we are moving towards being a bigger, stronger, tougher and mentally more sturdy team. We have some holes and we play in a tough division. My hope is we see continual weekly improvement and make sure that every game, win or lose, we make the other team remember that the Ralph is not a fun place to play for visitors. I say we are looking around 8-8 this year. That's a great acheivement year one of a rebuild.
  19. Backhand injures Wang?
  20. Especially when the Wang is 6'5" and 300 plus pounds....... It could have been one of the greatest TSW moments however.
  21. It's hard to practice in pads in the NFL.
  22. I'll resist pounding on your for your incredible acuity on this, but I would blame the damn Raiders before I'd blame our FO. They gave the # 8 pick, Rolando McClain, a 5-year - $40 million contract with $23 mil guaranteed. The Jags gave the #10 pick, Tyson Alualu a five year $28 mil deal with $17.5 guaranteed. If you're the Bill, you wan to be closer to the Jags number and not the whopper deal the Raiders gave McClain. If you're Spiller's agent, you're pushing hard for close to $40 mill or more. $12 mill is a big swing from #8 to #10.
  23. Hey, feel free to walk up to the guy and tell him he's soft....TSW will gladly discuss the outcome.
  24. Good post. But I'd like to see 4th quarter statistics. It seemed we could not get off the field at the end of any game. We got pushed around when we really needed a stop.
  25. Well, short of calling him an idiot....(afterall, if the team will give you stupid money take it) I would have to agree, for the most part, with your analysis here. On Defense, I happen to think stopping the run and a pass rush ourweigh's everything else. On offense, generally the QB rules. There have been teams who win it all without a great QB but rather a strong line and running game. Bottom line, as the Giants proved a few SB's ago, even great QB's look pretty ordinary when they are on their *ss.
