  1. The Titans used to be one of the NFL's top franchises not too long ago. The worst decision they ever made was letting Floyd Reese walk. All downhill from that point. Jeff Fisher sucked at drafting. Good coach but giving Fisher control over drafts was a big mistake.
  2. Huge coaching carousel in 2016. I think Caldwell, Campbell, Whisenhunt, Pettine, Payton, Bradley, McCoy and Pagano are goners. Harbaugh and Garrett will stay. Tomasula is gone if the 49ers find somebody available that's better. My two wild cards for coach departures are Chip Kelly and Andy Reid. With so many college jobs open, Kelly can name his price. Reid, I see him retiring. I only see the Bills ditching Rex if the team *really* under performs - like a 5-11 season with a bunch of Jauron-esque blowouts. Unlike others, I don't see the Pegulas letting Ryan hang around just because of the contract. It's in their best financial interest to field a winner as soon as possible and if he can't get it done they won't hesitate to move on.
  3. Pete Carroll's USC juggernaut was at one time not long ago considered the greatest college football program in the history of college football. Now, it's relegated to a 30 on 30 documentary. That's where the Patriots will be. In the present, yes, you could argue that they are the greatest franchise the NFL has ever seen. In the future, after all the stories come out about all the cheating, espionage and gamesmanship tactics, they will be the Pete Rose of NFL franchises. Greatness forgotten, the cheating the only thing fans remember. What I dislike most about the Patriots is not the on field dominance of the Bills or the AFC East. What I hate most is that Kraft and Company will do anything to win and to make money and the NFL is along for that ride and that Kraft, a single owner in a sea of them, really runs this league and this business.
  4. Grantland was way above the general demographic that ESPN thinks is it's bread and butter. The level of technical analysis and writing style appealed to the college educated sports enthusiast that had interest in topics other than sports. Grantland isn't for the sports fans who enjoy former NFL players shouting at each other for an hour before kickoff. That's not a slight, just fact. The only times I find myself on ESPN was for Grantland articles. You could catch an interesting analysis of jersey sales or why a team does X and then catch an opinion piece on politics or movies. I'm not a big fan of Bill Simmons overall but he assembled some bright writing talent there. ESPN is a disaster. They paid too much for the broadcasting rights and selling their souls to the television companies has provided them less customers to watch very, very expensive sports to produce and broadcast.
  5. This show is expertly written. I thought Billy Bob Thornton had one of his all-time performances on the show last year. This year, they've taken atypical choices (Jean Smart, Jeffrey Donovan and Bokeem Woodbine) for very dangerous, violent people. I enjoy how this show always has the violence "potential" on high. It can break out at anytime.
  6. The all metal chute on the new Ariens models (14s) get those comments about the heavy snows sticking to the chute. I went back and checked and it appears most of the comments come from heavy snow events - where you're blowing a lot of snow for a long distance and it gets through the auger but starts accumulating in the chute. That'd be the scenario I'd probably find myself in - I wouldn't want to be at the end of my driveway having to screw around with a chute full of ice pack.
  7. If I had to buy one today, I'd buy a Toro over an Ariens. I like them both but no matter the model or HP, the Ariens gets bad marks for the all metal chute (snow clogs, no matter how much WD40 you spray) and the tires. I like Craftsman products but you're right about MTD blowers and I believe MTD makes all of the Craftsman ones.
  8. I'm impressed with the Kodiak bear like strength of rotting corpses that have been out in the elements in this show. They can tear into living flesh like it's wet paper.
  9. Reggie McKenzie has done impressive drafting in Oakland. Carr, Mack, Cooper to name a few. He's ridiculously handicapped by the Mark Davis financial situation that backfilling in with free agents will be a problem until Davis gets his financial house in order.
  10. IMO, I don't think the Pegulas care about the money as much as they do as fielding a winner. Fielding a winner does more for the bottom line in the long term. If things really crap the bed here where you've got a 5-11 season, I wouldn't be surprised to see the house cleaned.
  11. While I don't discount the OP's premise outright, I have to disagree. I, like others, feel that TT has a better innate feel for the game. If he's ready to go, he has to start.
  12. I'm in the market for a snowblower and seeking your comments and opinions about the models you've purchased. There are so many manufacturers, engine sizes and widths, it's all starting to blur together. I'd like to keep it $1,000 and below. I deal with PA winters. I have an approx. 12x90 foot driveway.
  13. The "Jets West" scheme has neutered the disruptive pass rushing talent of the front four almost entirely. There are precious few sacks and interceptions.
  14. "For example, let's have Bush regularly. Then, when the situation is right, we go Gay." That made me LOL in real life.
  15. The hearings yesterday only reinforced my feelings of the last three Presidents and their cabinets. All ridiculously incompetent. We're lucky things aren't worse. We had a President who didn't want to see the emerging threat of al-Qaeda. We had a President who invaded Iraq for no good reason whatsoever with terrible consequences. We had another President hell bent on removing dictators in Egypt, Libya and Syria without any consideration of doubling down on the consequences of the previous President's actions. This isn't a Democrat or Republican thing for me. America has had over 20 years of really bad Presidents. We're all here despite such gross incompetency. Perhaps the United States is badass after all. To me, I'm appalled that the killing of a United States ambassador is nothing but a political circus. If this were a real investigation, you'd have lawyers asking questions not politicians and you'd fix it. For real.
  16. Santana Moss. In shape as of training camp. He's old, yes. I find a trade unlikely. So, you either raid practice squads or do something radical like bringing in Santana Moss for a look-see.
  17. Nobody wants a Bush or Clinton again. Regardless of party, I think America is sick of both of these families.
  18. Yes.
  19. People who make millions of dollars go out of their way to jeopardize their ability to make millions of dollars.
  20. Bradham excels when the front four pressure the quarterback. Since we're not doing that this season, he's not as effective as he was last year.
  21. Blitzing. It's what all the historically great NFL defenses did no matter what era they played in. Rush the goddamn passer relentlessly. It's not that hard of a concept.
  22. The Patriots have the best intelligence behind the coaches in the league. You see the coaches on the sidelines but there are men and women behind them fueling all of the scouting, stats, tendencies, etc not only before the game, but during it. It is very rare to see the Patriots not make adjustments. Last night, didn't the second half feel completely different from the first?
  23. IMO, EJ wasn't terrible. The defense and the defensive coordinator on the other hand ARE terrible.
  24. I think we will all look back after the season and see this as a poor decision. His kicks obviously masked a crap special teams unit.
  25. This defense sucks. See quarterback...get quarterback is the only scheme the front four need. But...suppose that's not cute enough of a scheme for Ryan and Co.
