  1. OKC is the most physical team in the playoffs and that matters. Should the Spurs fall, I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat GSW. They just beat you to death and GSW, like the Spurs, aren't used to getting bludgeoned like that. OKC changed their tactics after the Game 1 blowout to SA and it's been different ever since. I don't think Cleveland stands a chance against either SA, OKC or GSW. They have played creampuff teams in the playoffs and that provides this appearance of consistent 3 point shooting that against a real defense - isn't there. As a long time Spurs fan, while I expect this series to go to a brutal Game 7, I admit the Spurs got real old in this playoff round. Tim and Manu are completely done and Tony and David West really aren't all that far behind realistically. The last great hurrah.
  2. I will offer one. During the 70s and into the early 80s, Paterno often flirted with taking head coaching positions in the NFL, namely with the Patriots. Obviously, the information about Sandusky getting out would have prevented NFL teams from looking at him for those jobs. Even worse, he could have taken that job and THEN the information comes out, and he'd be fired, never to coach again at any level. As time went on and PSU became one of the most successful programs in the country, it became more about protecting THE program from all that has since transpired. In some ways, I think Paterno stayed at Penn State to control and manage this and other unpleasant issues.
  3. I will always feel bad for Marcus Lattimore.
  4. The way I see it is that nothing will get done in a Clinton presidency. The inactivity will make the Obama years look like the golden age of accomplishment. Republicans have a deep seated hatred AND mistrust of her that isn't going away. With a Trump presidency, there's the chance that something can be accomplished. He's not beholden to the ultra right wingers (who enjoy litigating decades old topics like abortion and down with the homosexuals!) or the ultra left liberals (who believe everything should be free, and yes, of course you're oppressed and we should feel guilty about it). Sure people don't like him or find him arrogant or repugnant but Trump is not chained to things like Whitewater, Clinton impeachment, Benghazi, email servers, etc. Of the two people, IMO, he's the better shot at getting things done via compromise. Now, if you belong to camps that believe that there should never be compromise on anything ever, you'll disagree.
  5. Penn State is a weird cult. It could come out as fact that Paterno knew about Sandusky's child abuse since 1976 and they'd STILL want JoePa's statue returned and rail against the "conspiracy" against the University. In some ways Paterno's blind eye towards the whole thing is worse. In a position to stop it. Did absolutely nothing. Lots of kids paid the price for that.
  6. I handle real estate trust issues for my family and extended family. I've had this question come up a few times. What I can tell you is that the most important step in deciding on a course of action is having a brutally honest conversation with yourself. A conversation about when you'd like to retire and when you really can retire. Your debt situation. Your health. The two big issues are debt and health care expenses. A lot of people are underestimating what they will need for healthcare. A lot of people are carrying mortgages and credit card debt with payments that work on a "working" income but are downright crippling on a fixed income. One of my relatives continues to work and he's now 71. Healthy man. Since a traditional IRA caps at 70.5, he kept a lot in traditional IRAs up until he was 68 or so and then switched everything over. He didn't want to start to taking the mandatory disbursements and he wanted to keep putting money away.
  7. I took a look at that 2000 Baltimore Ravens playbook. After that, it's not a half bad idea. For those of you who dismiss it, don't you feel Preston Brown would have benefited from some classroom learning about the defense?
  8. I picked the Bills. They slightly edge out Jacksonville for putting together the smartest, well thought out draft from Pick #1 to the UDFAs. I'm with many others here - this was one of the franchise's better drafts.
  9. People who don't vote are the biggest losers. I loathe me a sideline sitter.
  10. A great pick. Only surprise is he lasted to #19.
  11. I doubt RF will again outplay the value of his contract and that's why the Jets are balking at the big payday. He didn't get "worse" as the season wore on last year. He's actually a very consistent player. Defenses got better at keying off his habits and tendancies as a passer. Like I said when he was our QB, he lights it up in the first couple games but once teams have tape, that consistency is a killer and he's reluctant to change. I had little doubt we'd be successful against him because nobody knows him like his former teammates.
  12. I agree. His personality reminds me of Aaron Maybin's personality. You're never sure how really interested he is in playing football. Read the piece ESPN recently did on Nkemdiche. I came away with an impression of a physically talented individual with casual interest in football as a career.
  13. A note for you and your mower regardless of what you buy: Try as hard as you can NOT to put ethanol mixed gasoline into it. If you have a spot where you can get regular gasoline without the ethanol, your new small engine will love you for it.
  14. I like what Doug Whaley has done. With one exception. Cutting FJ still bothers me. I think his presence would have been a plus last year with the locker room whispers and the times this team seemed to have zero leaders on the field. One of those decisions where he needed to consider more than the numbers. As for picking players tonight, I'm very confident in our scouting department.
  15. The Spurs/Thunder series will easily go 6 games. Probably 7. The Clippers are done. All they've got for offense is Jamal Crawford. JJ Redick isn't at 100%. I think the Warriors are in trouble. Curry's injuries are the type that can be re-injured real fast and that team plays with less confidence when he's not out there.
  16. I have drop foot in both feet from a flu shot gone REAL bad. I wear AFOs. If that's true and he's got drop foot, that's bad news. I can tell you this - with drop foot, you only run in the case of fire or zombie hoard. You're not doing it for fun. Drop foot beats the hell out of your ankles, knees and your gait overall.
  17. Evidence of a tone deaf television executive.
  18. I think ESPN remains committed to cutting salaries. He, along with Bayliss were probably going to be asked to take a paycut or be released so they bounced. It's weird at ESPN. The SO was watching General Hospital the other night and Stephen A. Smith was on GH playing a private investigator. And even more oddly, not shouting at the actors.
  19. My guess is that they will try very hard to put a woman in the booth with Gruden. If so, Doris Burke would be my choice. I like the way she calls the basketball games. Allegedly, she's called some college football games. Whatever they do, no more shouting. It's like all those guys did their broadcast training reading severe weather bulletins.
  20. I never thought I'd find Kim Dickens annoying in any role she played. Until this show. If you got rid of the teenagers, most of that episode was about Cliff Curtis playing boat mechanic. It'd be like an entire Star Trek episode on Scotty cleaning the warp drive. The one thing that keeps me watching is what Strand is up to.
  21. Your annual reminder: Death Taxes Spurs
  22. Me three. He's the IT our defense needs.
  23. I have no idea why Bradford wants a trade. His best spot is right where he is. So what they draft a QB. Obviously with both he and Daniel drawing lots of guaranteed money the Eagles are planning on having their pick sit for this year, if not the next.
  24. I'll say that the show has been a little more interesting over the last two episodes. If it wasn't for the dumbest teenagers in the galaxy however, things would go a lot smoother. Considering the interest they put on the Asian woman in the Flight 462 webisodes, I imagine we'll be seeing her again.
  25. My $.02. If you must buy from a big box store, go with a Honda. I wouldn't buy any other brand at the store. This site has a lot of reviews on a lot of mowers. http://www.mowersdirect.com/vanity_page2.php?page_name=walk-behind-lawn-mowers I'd check out John Deere and Husqvarna dealerships if you have one nearby.
