  1. Huh? 3 Drafts have been solid thus far, not outstanding but generally pretty good. Preston Brown, John Miller, Sammy (which cost too much and he can't stay healthy), Darby (who had a stellar Rookie year, so he has the capability which goes to the coaching discussion), Shaq, and can't fault him for Reggie's injury in Training Camp, but he had a 1st round value yet got him in the 2nd round, are all pretty good candidates....not to mention trading for Hughes, finding Zack Brown and Lorax amidst the NFL debris to be quite good, bringing Tyrod in via FA and while I'm not a fan of Tyrod for the long-term and I've said as much all too often, he is certainly better than this team has had in quite some time, then trading for Shady who cost money, but not at the expense of talent, plus some other really saavy and insight moves. The only true issue I feel like is legitimate with Whaley is the QB situation....the most important position, but let's remember where this roster was before Nix took the reigns and even when Whaley took over, the BILLS were *just* beginning to build an NFL caliber roster....long ways in a short time.
  2. Absolutely agree, and certainly wasn't "assuming", just by the tenor of the first few responses it seemed like people were saying he was "fired", hence my question. Thank you for taking the time to answer it....and yes it does seem strange, but maybe his heart wasn't in it anymore? But yes, agreed there seems to be more to the story without presuming it's all on the BILLS or all on Henderson's side.
  3. And maybe I completely missed it, but was there ever any reason given as to why he was dismissed?? I honestly don't remember...
  4. 163 yds passing, 97 yds rushing, 1 rushing TD It would certainly help, but it's going to take more than one good game to put that answer to bed....IMHO
  5. And Jerry was quite vocal that they Drafted Zack Martin due to his son, Stephen, basically beating him down into his chair and preventing him from racing to the phone to Draft Manziel. Basically, Jerry finally wised up and realized he's paying football guys to know football, let them do their job. Which, is to his credit - but not the actual selection of said team. He also gets kudos for patience, a lot of it. But that's where it stops, IMHO. Well, that and the new stadium, which is really awesome.
  6. And unfortunately, that's not a question I'm qualified to answer....but every year, ok 2013 was abysmal but it was also an outlier, there is one or two candidates (see Prescott, Dak) that slip by all the pundits and emerge as truly viable NFL QBs....to diminish the opportunity for mistakes, I would focus all my QB scouting on just Pro Style Offense QBs, as a way of reducing my exposure to liability and mistakes - not because it guarantees success.
  7. At this point, Stephen Hawking in his wheelchair would be an upgrade...
  8. Given AW to IR, a Safety would make sense....not to mention the rather obvious painfully woeful play of the secondary
  9. For all my marbles, and I don't have many, I would pick a QB that has started for 3 years, in a Pro Style Offense, who demonstrates the ability to stay in the pocket and make all the throws, with accuracy....all the rest is noise
  10. I can't imagine the meltdown this board would have of Whaley did something like this...but, per some reports he was frequently out of place in the Defense and was asking for a lot of money making negotiations difficult. I wish this team would take this approach sometimes....but NE has the coaching to overcome this type of stance.
  11. Tyrod is not and will not be the type of QB Buffalo needs for the long-term solution. He is extremely athletic, gifted arm strength, and has a quiet confidence about himself that is admirable. However, he does not possess the mental or physical acumen necessary to be the "Franchise" QB the BILLS have been searching for most of my adult life, and I'm sick of it. If the BILLS don't look around the league and see the incredibly HUGE requirement to having such a QB truly is in today's NFL and urgently address that need, they will continue to languish in mediocrity.
  12. Just keep in mind: Seattle won the Super Bowl with exclusively late round WRs and Undrafted guys. I'm not saying Buffalo is Seattle at all - just throwing some perspective to what "can" be done with WRs who match the scheme and overall Offensive game plan.
  13. I'll say this, while I don't recall anything specific or especially egregious - kudos to you for taking the public approach to being aware that we are all human and make mistakes from time to time - it adds to the general amiability of the board. Thanks for that .....
  14. I'm not saying I disagree with your general premise of thought, but I'm not sure by "high in next year's draft", if that means 1st round or that includes a 2nd rounder as well. Because, by all accounts, Whaley can find good Corners throughout the Draft and in FA. I'd say they need a legit long-term solution QB next year early, 1st or 2nd round, and an outside WR opposite Watkins. Basically, invest the first two rounds in Offense, and then D.
  15. I'm all about Buffalo earning the respect from the rest of the league by beating the Patsies WITH Brady, but right now...focus should be on Miami. So, billboard material....NEXT week, please and thank you.
  16. In that particular case, I would welcome it because I freakin' hate 4:00 games....and, it means playing at Oakland at night, which might help this team in terms of weather.
  17. I too have noticed his demeanor is quite different this year and I too believe that change in attitude has led to a change in culture and I think we're seeing some of those benefits on Sundays. His lack of bravado is refreshing and I like his approach, even the firing of Roman - with the results good thus far, showed me he was willing to be quite proactive. Whether that was to save his job (probably was) or to have the intended effect, I think it was a signal that this year Rex seems to have a different comprehension of how the NFL requires Head Coaches to be...
  18. I think this week's game, as well as the next 2, will show just how savvy and insightful Lynn truly is, as I think the BILLS' offense will need to be willing to adjust. We know they're going to run it, but I think they will need to have a passing game plan in anticipation to the next 3 opponents.
  19. I'll say this, given Whaley's track record on finding hidden NFL gems, and the assignment of Justin Hunter: he is a recently former 2nd Round WR who has incredible speed and talent, his hands have been suspect over the course of his NFL career, but much like Lorax, players seem to come here and thrive when once they were assigned the junk heap....not always of course, but frequently and especially in this year, see Brown, Zack and the aforementioned Lorax....so, Hunter is a wait and see, but he has the size, speed, and tools to be a very good WR....maybe the BILLS' coaching staff can fix it...
  20. So, we're lumping Tyrod in with Orton? I don't think Tyrod is the long-term solution to the QB puzzle the BILLS have yet to solve since JK, but he is *definitely* better overall than Orton was for the BILLS. And, this argument is a bit like the discussion regarding Trent Dilfer, a Super Bowl winning QB...yeah, he played and he started and he won....buuuuut that running game and Defense won those games and the Super Bowl for the Ravens. Would I take it? Well, for f*ck's sake, yes! But, saying Tyrod is the "Franchise QB" of the future and saying the BILLS are intelligently using his talents within the Offensive scheme is something completely different, IMHO.
  21. I've never dumped on KW, so I can't say I owe him an apology, but I will say that I don't think he has multiple seasons left in him, in large part due to the severity of his injury last year. I think we're seeing his re-emergence in part due to the rest he received as a result of the injury, but I don't know for certain that you can argue his value in regards to the salary cap for next year and beyond. I've always been a big KW fan, his character and his play, but next year might be the year the BILLS pull a Belichick and move on before it gets ugly. Just a thought, no need to start building the cross for me or anything.....
  22. It's interesting when you look at his 3rd round picks: Preston Brown, John Miller, and Adolphus Washington. Brown and Miller are showing their worth, and while it was just one game out of 5, Dolph showed some promise as well. What seems to be a trend, is Whaley gets guys who are a year or two away from being genuinely good and allows them the room to improve in their first year or two, without asking them to do too much. Dolph remains to be seen, and even Miller over the course of a whole season, but Whaley does *not* get the credit he deserves so often from this board. He has yet to show he can Draft a QB, and to me he overpaid for Watkins - but otherwise, it's hard to argue against the job he's doing - especially when you look at FAs like Incognito and Zack Brown.
  23. I'm sorry but I disagree with the premise of your first statement. The Defense had a bad day, because the Offense could not sustain drives...they had 2 big plays, but couldn't keep it going, which resulted in the Defense being fatigued and on the field for far too long....effect on the Defense was cumulative as the Offense had one bad call after another and failed to produce an opportunity for the Defense to catch their breath and make adjustments, IMO.
