  1. I am NOT in favor of trading up either and while not for all the same reasons, the overarching point is the same: this team needs to get younger at most of the positions and they need contracts they can afford over the next few years. That said, two things: 1. 2019 salary cap situation is significantly better than this year's, as I believe someone reported the Bills currently at 90 million under the projected cap for next year and 2. IF, and as I said I'm not in favor of this, but IF the Bills were EVER to move up for a QB, this is the year to do it - there are several high quality QBs and they have 2 same year 1st round Draft picks, not to mention 2 2nd round picks. In virtually any other year, the Bills would need to give up 2 1st and 2 2nds and probably possibly more to get all the way up to the top 5, meaning they would have lost 2 years' worth of the best way to Draft - the 1st two rounds. But with what they have this year, they can give up 2 firsts, 1 2nd this year, and maybe a 2nd next year, and get there with a player like Glenn or Shady (nobody shout at once, it's just an idea) and by doing that, they keep next year's 1st, which is important because they will need that 1st round pick, and they keep one of their 2nds this year, which is important because they're re-shaping the entire roster. I will say, that given the friendly Cap number next year, it might make more sense to push as much of the Draft capital needed to move up to next year, trying to keep as many of the picks as you can for this year, because they will have so much FA money next year they will be able to afford to plug all their holes and then some with the FA money. This year the Draft is truly needed. And, Beane has said they will be aware of the Comp picks formula, meaning next year they might have an extra 3rd or 4th or 5th to help off-set the picks they give up.
  2. In that scenario you’re giving away a known commodity for an unknown one; additionally what guarantees do you have that Glenn’s foot is ready to be full time LT again?? If he’s not you’ve just taken away your young QB’s blindside protection. IMHO, that’s not smart.
  3. No....just No. This team has a number of holes to fill and Dawkins has shown he has the ability to be a franchise LT, and on a Rookie contract....you don't trade that away. If you're going to trade someone, as I'm sure others have already said I don't need to read previous comments to surmise this, you trade Glenn. Personally, I would rather not trade either of them, but if it has to be one of them, then it's Glenn....no question.
  4. Take a look at Dak’s evaluation - sound familiar? http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/dak-prescott?id=2555260
  5. Which is interesting because I think most people who are "Pro Foles" are those who simply argue that in the right system and on the right team, he can be good - not Favre-esque or Brady / Manning clones, but good and he showed that in his best year in Philly and then again in his second stint in Philly. He is not a transcendent talent that will elevate the Offense even with sub-par positional players, this would be Russell Wilson (except Baldwin) and Brady (except the years he had Moss and of course Gronk), this would be more like Flacco in the right system or Palmer when he was with Cincy in his early years or in Arizona for his first year or two...he's good, not great. But, he would be a good QB for the Bills if Daboll and his team build around his strengths until their franchise QB comes of age.
  6. God I wish there was a way to recover posts made prior to the board update last October, because I was nearly crucified when I made a case for Foles the last time he was available....for the "right price" is the issue. Eagles have said they want more than a 1st and 4th, which is crazy in my mind - and to that, no way. The reason I would be trading for Foles is to give my new Rookie QB time to develop without sacrificing seasons, but I can't do that if I'm giving up the farm. Because in this case it would cost Draft picks AND money against the cap. Although....I could offer a 4th this year, Tyrod, and a 3rd next year...?
  7. I'm glad Buffalo wasn't one of them....this team needs to get younger, not older.
  8. That's not entirely accurate....if you follow Traspasso on Twitter ( and I do ), you would see throughout the college football season he did a "Stock Watch" for QBs beginning to end with Rosen, Darnold, Jackson, Allen and yes Rudolph ranked in order and reasoning week in and week out. Rudolph was not at the top of that list for most of the season. Rosen, Darnold were tops, with Jackson coming in the middle of the pack and Allen usually toward the bottom. Fact is Traspasso values accuracy, pocket presence, and ability to lead a scoring Offense higher than the arm as some scouts and fans do. He also provides good reasoning, so why we may disagree with his evaluation, it's not like he's just saying "Oh, well he had almost 5,000 yards so he must be good"....he's taking into account the Offense and the top two WRs he threw to for the season, but he's also looking at the nuances of his play. So you may be right that he's doing to die on that hill....but it won't be for shallow or empty purposes. It will simply be that his evaluation is way off and maybe it is...but he makes some interesting points to ponder, at the very least. IMHO....
  9. Chris Traspasso for CBS Sports did a summary on the projected top Quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL Draft in specific categories he believes are essential to be a good QB: Link: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2018-nfl-draft-rankings-arm-strength-accuracy-and-everything-to-know-about-qbs/ "2018 NFL Draft rankings: Accuracy, arm strength and everything to know about QBs: This is the first installment in a series that ranks prospects by the skills most vital to their position" "Everyone knows Josh Allen has the strongest arm in the 2018 NFL Draft, and Lamar Jackson is the most athletic. But who's the best down the field? Which quarterback's the most calm under pressure? Who's most ready to run an NFL offense featuring RPOs? In one of the most-hyped quarterback classes of this generation, it's vital to break down and rank the individual capabilities of each signal-caller. The first installment of this series will do exactly that. After closely examining the specific "skills" critical to each position -- in this case, the quarterback spot -- it's time to rank prospects in each facet." His categories are: 1. Short / Intermediate Accuracy 2. Processing 3. Pocket Movement 4. Decision-Making 5. Passing Under Pressure 6. Deep Accuracy 7. Arm Strength 8. Mobility 9. Scheme Fits: West Coast, Air Coryell, Spread / RPO I will forewarn you, if you have an agenda going into reading this, you probably won't like it. He does a decent job of giving positives and negatives to all the candidates and includes some of the lesser known QBs as "Sleepers" in certain categories. Also, he gives reasons for his takes, not just regurgitating the same narrative propaganda spewed by one talking head after another. He has some original thoughts to why certain QBs excel in certain areas and why others don't. If you're willing to read with an open mind, it's worth the 5 minutes to get a different perspective.. Disclaimer: if you're not a fan of Rudolph, read with caution.
  10. FWIW, Beane has come out and said on a few occasions that the Bills are NOT going to Draft a QB based on a specific Offense. They will Draft a QB based on who they believe is the best QB period, not scheme specific. Beane said Offenses change frequently and Coordinators and Coaches take opportunities elsewhere and the QB needs to be able to play in various systems....
  11. Here's a nice article about Josh Allen written in September of last year after a miserable showing against the Ducks: https://www.denverpost.com/2017/09/22/josh-allen-wyoming-qb/ There are few good nuggets in there about Allen and what he was facing in terms of competition. I've said it before, but I think Allen is an aberration to the accuracy rule for QBs transitioning from college to the NFL. I tend to put a lot of emphasis on accuracy for any QB but especially for college QBs, but in this particular case, I do think the totality of circumstances warrants consideration for his overall performance. Here's an article by the Denver post written on Saturday about what he's doing now and his mindset toward "the process"....(couldn't resist...not sorry). https://www.denverpost.com/2018/03/03/josh-allen-quarterback-nfl-draft/
  12. I was nearly burned alive when I kept saying Ebron was NOT worth a top 10 pick.....that was the year I was posting again and again about where a team should Draft a TE: Rounds 3 and 4. Nobody really wanted to listen, but only Vernon Davis and Tony Gonzalez in the last 20 years have achieved their drafted status. Even then, it's a bit of a hard sell for Davis because it took him to get Harbaugh as a coach before he started producing and I'm not sure he has ever shown he was worth the 8th overall pick. The best TEs - except for the two notable ones I mentioned - i.e. Graham, Gates, Witten, Kelce, Reed, Walker, Julius Thomas for a couple years anyways, - were all taken in the mid rounds. Tight End is one of those positions that except for a RARE few, takes a couple to three years to be able to produce at the NFL level. That's why you don't draft them in the 1st....Davis was a Combine wonder and that's why he went from low 1st round to top 10 pick....Ebron has had his developmental time in the NFL and he still isn't very good. Maybe he can turn it around with a different team and Offense, but at this point I wouldn't give them more than a 6th in 2019 with a condition it can go to a 5th based on production. In this same vein of thinking, we saw O'Leary really start to make some positive strides this last season and I think he could have a breakout year - relative to his usage and position...I could see him getting 600-650 yards and 7 TDs next year with a different QB and better Offense.
  13. Basically anywhere but the Jets will help the Bills....because that means the Jets are Drafting a QB.....and, it’s the Jets. So, they’ll screw that one up.....
  14. I disagree, but fair enough...
  15. I’m sorry but Jackson and Tyrod are almost nothing alike. Jackson is already the far superior QB.
  16. I respectfully disagree...especially when you say he "doesn't do anything really well"....you and I are oceans apart on that one. Just looking at his deep throws, they're as nice a deep ball as you've seen in all of college last year. His timing is good, he places the ball allowing YAC for his receivers and that's just to name a few. But, time will tell and we could both be wrong somehow....so, we'll just agree to disagree.
  17. You could be right, but I would be VERY surprised if Rudolph lasts past the 2nd round. To me, he's a perfect fit for NE to develop behind Brady. I hate to say it, but he's a Brady in waiting for a team like NE. Mayfield routinely had 3 yards of pocket around him when passing, if he didn't bootleg, so the lack of batted down passes is hard to truly measure, and he may be phenomenal, nobody really knows....but if I'm betting, I'm betting he struggles to ever get beyond 15th in the league and if he does, he does it early and then fades. Sort of like an RGIII in terms of early success and then difficulty sustaining it.
  18. To me, Allen's comparison to Russell is as ill advised as Mayfield's is to Russell Wilson. JMO but, Allen has a different feel to him for me than Russell or one of the other big armed, inaccurate QBs because - and I'm probably wrong - I think his accuracy issues were far more a reflection of his situation on the team as a whole than many others in the past. For one Russell had a near 68% completion rate at LSU in 2006 and some of his receivers were: Dwayne Bowe, Early Doucet, and Brandon Lafell, while Allen had virtually nobody and an Offensive line that was basically the human version of Swiss cheese. Allen may be doomed as an NFL QB, but the more I've watched of him and the more I've read about him, the more I think he's the exception to the rule and with the right supporting cast, coaching, and a marginally decent Offensive line, he can be really, really good. I agree he needs development, but he is also that franchise QB in all the right ways waiting to be revealed.
  19. I hate to say it, but it's a good fit for him and for the Vikes. It's almost too logical....if it happens, good for him. He seems like a really decent guy and he's shown he can be a good QB on a bad team, let's hope for his sake he can be a good QB on a great team. (until they play the Bills, then I'm ok with a sniper taking out his knee )
  20. I've been meaning to say this...so please don't take this the wrong way....we're in a safe place. But i love your avi....I mean...i get distra....as I was saying....wait, who am I looking at? Eye contact, what? I love yellow sweaters....
  21. And yet there are those who think Rudolph is the most "Pro ready" - a higher floor / lower ceiling type of player. So, I can't agree with that...but I can agree that I HATE trading up when you have so many holes to fill and the depth of this Draft are in the same positions of need for this team...that doesn't happen every year. You take the picks and run with them, BUT I am taking a QB early to insure I get a quality QB for the future. And, because I haven't given up so much, I still have multiple picks to help me out and if I'm not paying big FA money to a single player / position, ala Cousins, then I can also use some of that FA money on WR / CB / DE / LB to help augment my already deep set of Draft picks and that's BEFORE I trade Tyrod or any others. Having said ALLLLLL of that, if the Bills are absolutely stone-cold sold on ONE guy, then THIS happens to be the year they should push all their chips in and go get him. The two 1sts in this year, two 2nds in this year, the two 5ths give them a glut of picks to add to the mix. And when they trade Tyrod, that will be more Draft picks to choose from. If they're ever going to move up, this is the year to do it....even though I don't like it.
  22. One name not up there that should be if you're going to include Jackson is Rudolph. If we stay at 21, Rudolph is the guy....if we move up, then it should be one of the top three: Rosen, Darnold, Allen. JMO
  23. I agree they will most likely Draft a RB. But when you consider their FA money position, plus their gaping holes at DT / LB / WR and some real depth issues at CB / Offensive line, there are only so many valued resources that can be allocated. So, taking a RB in the 4th is probably a better value than taking a DT in the 4th given their positional demand in McD's scheme. That's all....and if for some reason the Bills don't trade up or expend additional Draft picks, then using a 3rd round on a RB is more amenable but still silly if they keep Shady. 1st to 3rd round - and it's just IMHO before I get roasted - should be for anticipated starters. The 4th round on are guys you think have real potential but you're not completely sure and it may take time or it may never happen....why would a team in such desperate need for younger talent, take a guy in the 3rd round they have no intention of starting at a position that a 3rd rounder just won OROY?? To me, positional value says that if Shady stays, RB in the 4th is the sweet spot for them. And with that, they can STILL Draft one in the 2nd or 3rd round and have a nice tandem if they so choose next year when Shady is a FA.
  24. I agree, but the problem there is that every FA dollar you spend on one position, you can't spend it somewhere else...the same to be said regarding the Draft. So, if the Bills spend their FA money on Ivory and keep their money invested in Shady, they don't have the luxury of spending a 3rd round pick on a RB when they've already invested so much. Which for me, is one reason why I think it makes more sense to trade Shady. That same 3rd round pick would need to be a DT / LB or Offensive lineman if you're keeping Shady and obviously paying Ivory.
  25. Why apologize....you stopped reading. No problem. And nope, I'm good...no need to re-try anything as I expressed an opinion.
