  1. As long as your thought or perspective is one supported by your original insight, I'd like to know why?
  2. I understand regarding Rudolph, but I ask this question: if Rudolph had Mayfield’s arm, does he get into the top 10? To me, considering his arm is not a liability - just not great - it’s an over-hyped concern. His arm is plenty NFL ready IMO....people who link Rudy to the Offense at Ok. State continue a narrative that started 14 years ago when spread Offenses were really coming of age and the NFL resisted it on the whole. But now NFL Offenses are coming around to adapting because of how QBs are producing at the college level. I think Rudolph has serious potential to be a very good to great QB. I could definitely believe his floor is Alex Smith or Kirk Cousins and his ceiling could be Phillip Rivers.
  3. If you'll read carefully my statements, I didn't blame the lack of pass rush on Kyle, I stated DEs but also the lack of push up the middle....can't argue they had that almost at all during the season...the other thing I stated was an abysmal inability to stop the run, to which Kyle is also part of, but certainly not alone....so, to me, the logic is sound. As for invaluable in the locker room, I said I'd offer him to be a coach, that puts him in the locker room and he gets the film sessions with the other guys to help them....kind of like a mentor or older player? Soooo, you get his influence but you get a better, younger player at a similar or lower cost AND you get to keep the guy for the reasons you mentioned. And I'm not sure if you're insinuating I'm one of the guys who are saying to move on from him "for shock value only", unless you're talking about media types....but for me, I've been saying this for months. When SDS revamped the site, at least as far as I can tell, you can't go back before October of 2017 to search for content, but I'm pretty sure I've said this about Kyle even after that....I know I said it about him before the season. Anyways, yes I know I'm in the minority, and I'm okay with that as long as we all know it's just an opinion and we all get to have one....but I do think it's in the best interest of the team.
  4. Top to bottom ranking: 1. Rosen 2. Rudolph 3. Darnold 4. Jackson 5. Mayfield To me, Mike White will be a better Pro than Mayfield, but based on collegiate production, you can't ignore Mayfield's potential. However, I didn't even rank Allen because IMHO you don't fix inaccurate and you don't completely overhaul tendencies, which he has poor mechanics when throwing off balance that is going to lead to high INT rates....also, those truly elite arm talent guys have been relying on that talent for so long and generally succeeding, that it's like trying to break an old wild stallion to be a stable horse....it ain't happenin'....Allen is one of the most gifted QBs to come out since Aaron Rodgers, but his game is full of flaws and I don't think a HC / QB Coach can fix it to the degree it needs to be fixed to be successful. I'm probably wrong....but oh well, those are my thoughts.
  5. I'm not going to be popular with this opinion, but I offer him: nothing. I've thanked him, there's a chance his name goes on the Wall of Fame at the stadium, would love to have him back as a coach....but I'm moving on. However, I'm also trading Shady and Hughes. So there's that.... Kyle is beloved for good reason, but this team just turned a tremendous corner and often it was in spite of several key factors: poor QB play (as a QB, not a runner), really bad run Defense (see Kyle, et. al.), poor WRs / passing game (see QB play), and lack of pass rush (see DEs, but also no push up the middle). Kyle is just one cog in this wheel that needs to be re-invented. Love the guy, I'm grateful for his dedicated years to Buffalo, but it's time to move on and find the younger, stronger, faster DT that can do what we need the middle of that D-line to do...... I know, I know....I'll be a pariah on this board, but someone had to say it.
  6. I hope this doesn't get me on SDS' bad side, and I know it's against board rules, but in THIS particular case it's a worthy cause: F*CK CANCER! There's people like Jimbo who very openly talk about the misuse of their talent, money, time and life in early adulthood, but experienced an awakening of sorts, and course correct their life to make some truly incredible differences in the lives of others and demonstrate humanity and generosity to the community around them, and yet we still have people on this earth who do nothing but destroy the lives of others...and they'll die in their sleep at the age of 93........again F*CK CANCER!
  7. If you’re crediting the Jax win to primarily or significantly to Dareus then no amount of logic is going to help. Also, do we really need to review his history with Buffalo? Or the exorbitant cost? Well, then I guess there’s nothing else to discuss.
  8. I have nothing against Rosen as a QB selection, but I'm not sure that if the Bills stay put at 21 we can accuse them of doing nothing. Presuming they're able to get a Rudolph / Jackson from the 21 spot, then I think they're merely believing the best thing is to use all their Draft picks, it just so happens the 21st pick is a QB of their choice NOT named Rosen / Darnold / Allen / Mayfield.
  9. In light of how Shady found out last time he was traded, I would expect an air tight seal on anything that happens with McCoy. Until the season starts and McCoy is in a Bills uni, I will still have my doubts that Beane plans on retaining him for next season. Beane isn't stupid....he knows he can't sound non-committal to the Bills' most beloved player in the moment. If / when it happens, it needs to come like an executioner's axe: swift and clean.
  10. Can't be....doesn't fit the narrative of the board who all appear to have more inside information than the GM.....sorry, you're wrong. Good try.
  11. Sounds a bit familiar....maybe Jax would like him?
  12. C'mon dude....you understand the point....the point is, IF the Bills were to be so committed as to give up all of the assets necessary to get to #2 or #3 or whatever to Draft Rosen, the point is that at least the Bills will have probably solved the QB puzzle they've been stuck on since Jim Kelly. That's a loooooong fricken time to not have a true QB identified to lead the franchise. So, yes, I think most of us are willing to accept a step backward for one year if it comes to that, so that we can build a long-term winner. Will it suck? Yes.....but what's worse is being stuck in the quagmire of mediocrity for 20 years while seeing no appreciable movement toward a championship. And, that's not to guarantee they will lose or at least make a push for the playoffs....it's just that IF that were to happen with a QB like Rosen, most of us accept it as a necessary evil to achieve the greater good. Got it? Drama and tantrum over? Hope so..... Go Bills!
  13. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, those are more "commandments" given to QBs....I found an article about it specifically relating to Tony Romo, but that was pages ago and I've got to run...but it's out there if you're interested. As for the Parcells rules, you're right in that I find just as many articles and links that indicate 7 as they do 4....I've tried going back through the history and I'll say Mike Lombardi who wrote an article leading up to last year's Draft did so regarding Bills Walsh and reference the 7 principles of Parcells' QB criteria. Now, maybe it's still wrong, but you would think with such a venue and medium, someone who could validate it's accuracy or challenge it, would have been heard. At this point, I'm not sure....but, to me, the 7 points seem even more objective since you're adding completion % (or accuracy to some degree) and production, TDs, vs. mistakes, INTs...and the last category doesn't need to be totally wacky, it just needs to show a guy can produce points without constantly putting the team in a deficit.
  14. I appreciate his honesty in regards to the team evaluation. I don't read anything into it other than the team needs to drastically improve in a number of areas. It's not earth shattering and it's not revelatory other than to indicate he's willing to admit deficiencies despite a modicum of recent success. Well done Coach, now you and Beane go assemble the team we deserve and have long pined for since the greatest days of the Buffalo Bills football era! Go Bills!
  15. Unfortunately as with most things on the internet, the truth and facts get conflated with reality. Parcells had 7 criteria and even though they are as I listed, but there is a wealth of information out there linking the actual 7 criteria Parcells took to evaluate QBs... Agreed, and with anything subjective, there's always going to be hits and misses as there are great QBs who don't meet that criteria. A recent one, Dak, flew under everyone's radar but has demonstrated he can win - so having *some* kind of metric or tool that takes into account actual football played, seems less about athleticism or Wonderlic scores or even interviews, it becomes about a resume. And the resume seems to be a good indicator of future success, IMHO.....not always by any means, but at least it provides a balance to the "eye test" or even underwear champions we'll see this week at the Combine.
  16. Here's a link to just 7+ minutes of highlights from his Senior season: Against Pitt at the 1:20 mark of the video, you see him moving in the pocket keeping his eyes down field going through the routes, then he escapes out of the pocket doing the same thing.... At the 2:03 mark against TCU as he scrambles once again just outside the pocket as protection breaks down, he runs a bit and throws the ball in between three defenders into a narrow window for the TD At the 2:27 mark against Texas Tech he's going through different routes and finds his receiver AT the 2:34 mark he looks through routes and fits a ball into tight coverage for a TD At 4:26 he looks across the field from right to left and finds the back for the short TD At the 5:25 mark he's shifting his feet and looking in various spots across the field, resets and throws a TD At the 5:37 mark he looks left, then right and makes the throw for a TD I've only included what are truly obvious examples to me, so that it doesn't leave much room for interpretation. But there are instances in that video where you can see him hold the Safety or Corner with a pump fake or where he's looking only to throw to a different receiver, as well as doing a nice job on some run fakes or in one instance toward the end of the video, he looks like he's going to throw to the RB in the flat to his left, only to throw to the receiver down the right boundary and I didn't include this because to me it looks like a scripted screen fake, but he does a nice of job with it nonetheless. However, for more video or examples, Chris Traspasso has done a nice job covering him and as I've mentioned before in different threads, Traspasso has him rated as QB1 in this Draft for much of the reasons I've mentioned and just happen to agree with him about.
  17. Parcells' criteria as follows: Be a three-year starter Be a senior in college Graduate from college Start 30 games Win 23 games Post a 2:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio Compete at least 60-percent of passes thrown
  18. No....sorry, I'm just one of those guys who believes once a significant transgression has occurred on the field like Gronk's this last year, I'm out. Prior to this year, I would have said, "Yup" all day depending on the asking price, but now, with his douche-bag, selfish, childish temper tantrum bull****, nope....never, not on my team if it were me. Off the field stuff can be managed to some degree, like his silly antics and partying lifestyle, to that - who cares as long as he isn't hurting himself or anyone else and abiding by the law. But, on the field cheap shot, potentially dangerous and career threatening....nope, to hell with you and the horse you rode in on....
  19. And what's great, is this is BEFORE any additional trades to garner more picks. Personally, I think the Bills pick up an extra 3rd and 4th somehow before the Draft is finished, via trading a player or two.
  20. Personally, I prefer using a bit more objectivity for evaluating a QB, i.e. the Parcells criteria. It's been said before, but only TWO of the major 6 meet that criteria: 1. Baker Mayfield 2. Mason Rudolph I'd take Rudolph all day at 21 and trade back 22 if possible, and know I've got an accurate, prototypical size QB, with good pocket awareness, NFL arm (not great, but good enough), experienced, and with no off-field distractions. Also, people who say Mason plays in a one read Offense are using an old narrative and it's lazy. In his first two years as Sophmore and Junior, that's a fair assessment for the most part, but in his Senior year you can see him going through progressions, making reads across the field and making all the throws at all levels of the field. No, he is nowhere near the pure passer Josh Rosen is, and he can't even tie Josh Allen's shoelaces in regards to arm strength, but his arm is NFL capable. As was Peyton Manning and Tom Brady's...their greatest gift was accuracy and football intelligence. IMHO, Rudy has those and with the right team, ala Daboll's Offense with some RPO, he can be a great pocket passer and lead a proficient Offense, just as he did at Ok. State.
  21. I'll tell you what's really depressing....click on the Buffalo Bills link and you can see their Draft history....woof!! That is something ugly....wowza. There are a few hits in the mix, but what a massive misuse of Draft picks....let's hope Beane and McD can do again what McD did last year and get 4 good to great players in this Draft. They need them.
  22. There ya go, talking about packages again...does Joe Webb know you've been cheating?
  23. For me, all of this information - presuming it's accurate - only solidifies my belief that the Bills should simply stand pat and let the Draft come to them because the Saints and Steelers are now in the "QB hunt" if this information is true, meaning you add two more teams to an already depleted supply market. The Bills would need to essentially give up the farm to go up into the top 5 to get their guy, and they don't have that luxury. In that scenario, and only in the scenario where this is reliable information, I would go after Cousins simply due to the demand being too great for the Bills to meet the price. If they were to outbid the other teams, it would take both 1sts, a 2nd this year, a 1st and a 2nd next year and probably a player....that is far, far too rich for a team that has so many needs just based on their own players becoming UFAs.
  24. And people need to keep in mind, this is before any additional trades / cuts that are most likely to come which will add to the pool of money, that is mostly needed just for 2018 based on projected Cap position for 2019. So, if / when guys like Glenn, Tyrod, Shady, Hughes, Richie, even Wood's salary, come off the books for 2018, there will be additional savings...I'm not saying all of those guys are goners or should be, or whatever, but it's pretty safe to assume at least a couple of those guys or others will be part of the roster re-design if not for anything else other than Beane's own comments about the "hell" the Bills are in re: Cap situation.
