Changes coming to Bills front office?
PaattMaann replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His sources tell him the ownership is mad at Whaley - not really sure how or why considering they were the cause of the whole Rex disaster and the reason Doug couldn't answer any questions... What would the owners expect if they ignore the advice of their GM, hire their own guy, constantly interfere with the running of the organization and undermine the GM at every turn? -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects

"You know, I've really just been enjoying life after college football and my surgery. I've mostly just eaten unhealthy, went to a few frat parties - crrrazzzyyyy frat parties, I'm talking like butt chuggin off hot college tail crazy! - and haven't really been working out too much. So I would assume I am a little behind schedule, but ya know, YOLO!" -
speaking of Arthur Jones, Id like for us to give a nice cheap deal to Art as defensive line depth. My reasons are mostly personal as I played high school football with him and still keep in touch. If the Bills sign him then maybe I can start feeding us all inside info on the reg.

Im not asking JW to answer for his media hack buddies...I am hoping he can shed some light on his feelings for the poor state of his profession. If someone asked me about teachers today I would be more than happy to give my feelings on the state of teaching today. -

It would be great if you answered the question in his post...why do others in your profession just tweet/write rumors instead of developing sources and posting when they are confident in something (like you usually do)...isnt that what being a reporter/writer actually is? -
Oh sure I'll bite. Patrick Mahomes, QB Texas Tech, at #10. We all know QB is the most important position in sports, and we have Tyrod Taylor as the place holder for this year and possibly next and then we can cut bait. This is NOT a place to debate whether TT is or isn't the guy. Even if he magically turns into Drew Brees overnight, wouldn't hurt to have a capable backup or some trade bait. Now is the time to address the most critical position in sports, with a guy who has the most electric arm I have seen since probably Favre. He has big stats, he has highlight reel after highlight reel. And he has issues. He played in a "gimmick offense", he saw almost exclusively zone coverage so his reading of defense is lacking. He DID go through progressions, he has great pocket presence and is a leader on the field. His arm is a cannon. He can make every NFL throw (and off his back foot none the less, while falling away from the throw). He has the intangibles to match the arm. He has also played baseball at Tech, and now can focus solely on his football throwing motion. Sure he has flaws, almost every prospect does. Draft him for his upside, and it's huge upside, it's franchise upside. Could he flop? Sure he could, what prospect that we would draft at 10 doesn't have that possibility? Drafting Mahomes and letting him sit and learn for a year or two, and fix his weaknesses (reading defenses, mechanics) behind TT will give him the best chance at success. If you have the chance to draft someone who could stabilize and thrive at the most important position on your team, why would you pass that up? For a #2 WR (that may also flop)? For a LB (that may also flop)? For yet another defensive back (that may also flop)? All of those positions are luxuries in comparison to the QB spot. Draft Mahomes at #10 for a true chance at sustained success, and maybe even a chance at building our own dynasty.

Preach brother - agree 100% The purpose of the media is to report facts to the public. The Buffalo sports media tries to make mountains of not even mole hills, flat ground. -
Are the Bills hoping another team signs Gillislee?
PaattMaann replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
currently, on our team whats hard to understand about a restricted free agent status? We put a contract out to him, he is forced to play under that contract, if another team offers him a contract instead, the Bills have the right to match it and keep him - which I would fully expect us to do... Use a tissue and sop up your tears and fear not -

to you, and to make believe reporters I think there was dysfunction when the Pegulas took over, because they didnt know how to run an NFL org. They had too many cooks in the kitchen, and then over ruled them all with their own ideas...this offseason, post rex firing, has seemed very fluid and professional. I dont see any signs of dysfunction now that the Pegulas realized to give their GM the power all other GMs in the league have and stop butting in. -

again, EJ was def. Nix pick (im sure with input from Whaley yes) and I dont mind the Cardale pick, why not take potential and see if it can be developed when your struggling at the most important position in sports?? And theres 21 other starting spots on the team aside from QB that Whaley has also addressed...so I dont see how that being a bad GM -

Buddy put himself out to pasture after the draft, in which he stated many times publicly that he would leave after "getting his guy" at QB (EJ Manuel) -
is this the epic greatness we get now that BBMB has been shut down? sweet jesus

I agree hes a good talent evaluator, and do not want to see him gone. I also like McD as the one voice/face of the franchise. For me, Whaley basically was not in control ever here...2013 and before you had buddy nix...2014 you had Brandon heavily involved...Whaley didnt hire Marrone or Rex Ryan. I think after the firing of Rex and the promotion of Brandon, Whaley finally has the reigns completely as far as making football decisions (with heavy consult from the HC, as it should be), so im willing to see how these next two seasons go before I would consider being on board with giving Whaley the axe -

yea im familiar with that article...where does it say Whaley is being fired/phased out/replaced? Who cares if the GM doesnt speak to the media and instead its the HC, great, more time for the GM to do his actual job and not try and placate the media hacks -

Under whaley there has always been the "one voice" policy, and when fat mouth Rex was here, during the season that was him...Boyko being brought in doesnt lessen Whaleys role, we had a PR guy before Boyko was brought in...so that dudes role was replaced, not Whaleys -

that has been the company line at OBD since Whaley came in...during the season the head coach is the ONE VOICE and as far as someone saying Whaley has been out of sight....what? hes been at pro days, the combine, with potential FAs....dont know where you have been this thread has too much legs already for an absolute not story -

what are you ranting about? We didnt dismantle our run unit...we have the same exact EVERYTHING except we changed to a more versatile and athletic FB (who is an equally as good blocker)... soooo, whats your point here? -
I think it will be a year of growing pains for sure, but I dont think that means we wont be "in the hunt"...we improved on D just by jettisoning the fat ass and his old defensive ideas. Offense should remain elite at running the ball, and the passing game can go nowhere but up (or stay terrible, in which case it still got the job done last year)
-
Thats the problem with constant scheme switches McD isnt going to plug every hole on defense in the first year of transition...we have to do the best with what we have. Sometimes that means players playing positions in a D they arent ideally fit for (but they COULD blossom into it given time and coaching - if they have the acumen for it). LB right now seems to be an area that fits this bill...maybe we wont find what we need in the draft and will have to "make do" for this season and hope to fill those spots in FA or draft next year. You cannot always fill all your needs, even in the best of situations. We changed schemes (yet again) so its going to take more than one offseason to build that D...

why wont it end up well for whoever gets him? Because he is exploring options in what is likely his last chance to get paid well as an NFL football player? I dont blame the guy at all...hes doing due diligence. Why would that affect his play on the field? Why cant he shop around, find his value and best fit, sign a contract and play really well? I love how we, as fans, throw stones at guys who have their lives/careers/family well being on the line.

any production at all from Listenbee is icing on the cake (except we have nothing at WR after Sammy so, is there even really a cake?)...good thing we run the ball

No rules to my knowledge about those caps. 25k barrels would be a crazy amount for them to produce, especially early on, nothing for them to worry about. Side note: what a stupid law! Isn't this America and capitalism? If a brewery could self distribute that amount why the hell shouldn't they be allowed to? As far as someone else commenting about them competing with themselves in that location. Not really. Has anyone ever tried getting into 716 and had to wait? Exactly, another space for people to pre game, post game, watch games, visit year round and make that area viable. And yes they can then have some of their own brew on tap at 716. Again I'm just speculating based on my knowledge that they are touring breweries, so when I saw their purchase of this building (at a very steep mark up) it just made sense to me that they might make a brewery out of that spot.
