  1. If they really thought that much of Levi Wallace they would have resigned him for what the Steelers gave him. 2yrs total $8M is a bargain for a good starting CB. They would have paid him, if they liked him as a starter or weren’t looking for an upgrade.
  2. I also remember OJ not having success in his rookie year behind a poor OL.
  3. I’m not anti-RB ever, but this OL is questionable going forward and was was worse than that last year. Fixing the OL before investing in a back early not only would help our existing RBs, but would help keep Allen from getting hurt. It’s all a system and a good pass catching back helps give the QB a nice safety valve so that he can dump it off to avoid big hits. I don’t think that Hall improves the run game much more than Singletary.
  4. Well, yes maybe. I can argue that a good OL is a better way to have a good run game.
  5. Yep, Breece Hall in the Bills’ backfield last year just would have gotten hit 1.5 yards in the backfield instead of 2 yards deep.
  6. Well, I would not want to trouble you, your highness. Are you suggesting that if Tre White was healthy and they had more than a stop-gap at CB2, that would not have made a difference in giving up a FG in 13 seconds? No doubt that KC was/will still be a dynamic offense, but I would have liked the team’s chances better with White on the field and a more NFL caliber athlete opposite him.
  7. You don’t think that Penn State has other talented players that the team might be doing due diligence on? I’d honestly be disappointed if they did not have someone at any of the major college pro days. Dotson (WR) and Ebeketie (DE) are two that they could have been there for. I may not be right, but I think you are way over-selling the magical coaching of DBs that this staff has done. I think a better description would be that they’ve been hiding weakness at CB for a few years and that cost them a game in the playoffs vs KC this year.
  8. Wouldn’t be shocked at OL in first, but would be if the player is a G only. A guy who could compete with Spencer Brown at RT and could slide in to G would be on the radar, in my opinion. Still, hard to imagine leaving round 1 without a corner unless they plan to trade way up in round 2.
  9. I think that Zion Johnson is a fine player and G is a big need, but compared to CB, G is not a premium position. In my opinion, they MUST have a viable starter at corner opposite Jackson (who is not an athletic prototype for the position) in case Tre White misses the first month or two of the season. A 2nd or 3rd round pick from a lower level of competition does not make me confident that they won’t be starting Jackson (a 7th round pick) and a major stop gap for the first 1/2 season.
  10. Agree - Hill is a major outlier. Just because he is great, doesn’t mean that any 5’8” 170 lb fast guy will be equivalent. Hill was not a high draft choice either. just because Aaron Donald is outstanding, it doesn’t mean that it is wise to draft 285 lb DTs. Ed Oliver is a heck of an athlete for his size, but nowhere near Donald in the NFL.
  11. Agree- I think Hall is OK, but not in round 1 with huge need at corner. If they aren’t going corners, I could see OL or WR - anything else would be a head scratcher i think It would be too early for a tiny WR at 57.
  12. I would not like this outcome at all. Better score every drive, because opponents will have a field day against a rookie from a lower level of competition and Dane Jackson to start the year.
  13. How does that counter my argument? They have signed 1 premium free agent - at the most premium position besides QB. Signing even a good FA CB would cost a ton (not quite as much as Von Miller, but a lot).
  14. Jackson does not have the kind of speed to match many receivers in the league. Maybe his smarts and other athletic attributes can allow him to play adequately at this level, but if your argument is that the Bills must get more high end offensive weapons, then how do you feel comfortable with an average at best (by NFL standards) athlete trying to cover those high end athletes on the opposition? Beyond that, who is starting along with Jackson of Tre misses say the first month or more? In the newly loaded AFC, losing a game or two early could leave you on the outside looking in at the playoffs.
  15. The argument about no 1000 yard rushers ignores that the run blocking has been weak and that they don’t run the ball a lot. I’m all for improving the run game, but I think the beast way to do that is to improve the OL.
  16. And the D wasn’t good enough to hold a lead for 13 seconds.
  17. Says who? Disaster awaits if you start Dane and a rookie who isn’t ready for the NFL. Everyone will be complaining that they “could not even get one stop to win the game”. Beyond Safety if White is missing, the CB spot, as currently manned, is by far the worst position on the team- and it is a premium position. Disagree - does not mean I am right or that you are wrong.
  18. So, is it your view that it is futile to play defense, so just load up to score on every possession? If yes, why would they have signed Von Miller, just take a bunch of receivers and go 5 wide!
  19. I don’t disagree with that at all. My concern is that there is nobody to play CB this year. Counting on a developmental prospect to play a lot early with White likely out is a daunting proposition. It would be shaky even with a first round corner who has plenty of experience in a major conference,, but worse if you are counting on a raw small school prospect. Again, if they sign a decent vet, then I could see passing on CB in round one and taking one in the 2nd.
  20. Problem is that it is likely that the rookie will have play a lot early - or Siran Neal will. I just expect White to miss the first part of the season and I don’t want to see Jackson and a 2nd/3rd round rookie or Neal lining up as starters. They don’t have time to “develop” a 2nd or later round rookie. Someone has to play the first month or two if White is out.
  21. What would they do with Hill? He isn’t beating out Hyde or Poyer this year and Taron Johnson is fine covering slot receivers. Hill has no experience in covering outside receivers. if they were set at Corner for this year, maybe, but I would not like this idea. I think that Kyler Gordon may be the best CB that is left at 25. Think he would be a decent fit. As tempting as a top WR prospect would be, I can’t see how they fill a starting CB position early in the year if White is out and the defer CB to 2nd or later. Nightmare is starting the season with Dane Jackson and Siran Neal or 2nd round (or later) rookie. That would negate most of the expected improvements in pass rush.
  22. Love Dotson, but the Bills have nobody that is not injured who has proven that they can cover NFL receivers.
  23. Sign me up, if that is true!
  24. I get it. How much do you think Bradberry would/will command on the open market? My guess is that it will be significant $.
