  1. I think the strategy is that this is a reset year and they know they have extra picks to address getting a top WR next offseason. There was no way they could address all of their needs this year without trading picks from next year that they will need to finish the reset.
  2. I don’t think top 10, but isn’t unreasonable to think that the Bills in this transitional year might miss the playoffs.
  3. They may need a corner, but they are going to need the best approximation of a go-to receiver they can find.
  4. I would not call Coleman “twitchy”, I would call him a smooth moving athlete who can contort his body to adjust to off target throws. He is an overall very good to excellent athlete, but instant quickness and lateral agility are not his calling card - at least to my eyes. He will have to really improve his route running, but I don’t expect him to become an elite route runner at his size. I think expecting him to be a difference maker or true go-to guy is pretty optimistic. If he becomes a solid WR2 and good red-zone threat I think that is a win. With an extra 2nd round pick and perhaps an earlier draft position, they might be in shape to get a difference making WR next year. I’m certainly not qualified to state my opinion as fact - it is just what I see when I watch him. I am rooting for him to show me to be very wrong.
  5. Agree that they had no choice but to move on from Diggs. Fixing the cap was also important. Note that I specifically said my lack of Coleman enthusiasm was NOT his 40 time. My concern is his ability to get open - something he didn’t show a lot of in college. He is young and a great all-a round athlete so upside is intriguing. If he can become a very good route runner, he might be outstanding. Still, not a lot of guys with his profile really excel in the league.
  6. Pretty balanced and fair summary. Like you, I’m not completely sold on Coleman- not because he ran 4.61, but because his college tape doesn’t show him getting open a lot. Now, he is just turning 21 and he is clearly a tremendous all-around athlete, so those both point to possible significant upside. I’m hoping that he turns out to be great, but we will have to give him a few years to see. I think the balance of the Bills’ draft is promising and made sense. They have picks stockpiled for next year, after that draft I think/hope that they will be right in the championship mix again.
  7. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I think Diggs either was hurt, had some issue interfering with his play or is losing it due to age. I don’t think that the idea of fast, quick high quality route runners is expiring. Now, I’ve no issue with adding a bigger receiver to the room to add diversity to the attack, but they may be going too far.
  8. I don’t think it’s accurate to say that didn’t work. The Bills have had one of the top offenses in the league for the last 4 seasons. They didn’t win a championship, but they were damn good
  9. Hoping the light comes on. The physical talent is there and he is still quite young. I don’t expect a star, but if he can become even a solid contributor as a top backup, it would certainly help.
  10. And KC won with a 2nd round rookie Rashee Rice as their lead WR.
  11. I’m not really arguing against your original point, just wanted to add that quickness, route running skill and acceleration are as important or more so as speed. The gauntlet speed point is questionable in my mind - the gauntlet is not a speed competition. Players aren’t competing to see who can run it fastest. It IS encouraging that he could ripen it fast and show good hands.
  12. This is radio-fodder talk.
  13. That’s true, but why do you suppose he didn’t run the 40 again at his pro day? I think it’s safe to assume that he knew his 4.61 was about the best he can do. Similarly, he did not do the 3-cone and 20 yard shuttle agility drills at all - very likely he knew these would not be his strengths. That doesn’t mean that he can’t succeed in the league, but it might well cap his ceiling.
  14. It’s not just speed that gets a receiver open. Quickness and route running skill are as important or more so. Sometimes coaches can implement schemes to get guys open as well. My particular concerns with Coleman is that he failed to get open frequently against college competition. I don’t necessarily blame that on his straight line speed. His lateral quickness looks so-so, but he is at least a fluid mover with excellent size, strength and jumping ability. Can he sharpen his route running? He is young and seems to be a hard worker, hopefully he will improve that aspect of his game.
  15. There’s one that I haven’t heard of.
  16. What do you think of McKinley Jackson as backup 1T?
  17. Not suggesting he can’t continue, only saying it’s not fully proven yet.
  18. Anyone know what the knock on Trotter Jr is? Is it just size?
  19. Just a small sample-size of production. He looked promising, but can he continue now that teams know they have to give him some attention?
  20. They have won a lot. They just haven’t won a Super Bowl. The roster was fading so going “all-in” this year by trading 2025 pick to move up this year would just waste future resources and hinder the retooling.
  21. I was no fan of the Coleman pick, but he will have a role and be decent. I think Rice is the try-hard kid of a legend, but isn’t anywhere near as talented or skilled as his Dad.
  22. I agree, I’ve been suggesting that was the case the past few weeks. That’s why I was against trading 2025 picks to move up this year. The roster is another off-season away from being very good again (of course, just my $0.02 worth).
  23. What does Rice solve on this roster? He isn’t a fast deep threat and would mainly compete with Shorter for 1 spot - best ST wins that duel.
