Rd 2, Pick 33: WR Keon Coleman, Florida State

I understand and I’ll be the first to admit I am not qualified to critique their picks, but I can watch games and see that he is almost never open. -

If you want a back to the basket post player, Coleman is the man. -

Several here have watched a lot more than highlights and he can’t get open. -

This really is inexplicable. They said they wanted explosive players with RAC and they took a guy who can’t get open and can’t run away from anyone. For context, Chop Robinson (DE) is considerably faster. -

For what? He is worth more to the Bills as raw hope that he improves than he is in trade. -
Well, of course I’ll hope he is great if they take him - I just don’t see the upside.
-
The young age is a plus, I just don’t know how he gets any quicker than he is.
-
It’s not 40 time, it’s getting open and Coleman doesn’t do that.
-
Bolden played when DBs were allowed to rough up WR. I don’t think big guys like that are as valuable now with rules changes.
-
Ok - I admit that I was just arguing that how a guy is rated coming out of HS is irrelevant. I still am not enamored by Franklin. I think if you look at recent analyst lists, they have dropped Franklin a lot from where he was 2 months ago - same for Coleman. I think that’s because they have heard from teams that they don’t value them that highly. I, of course, don’t know what they will do and I watch game tape, highlights and read voraciously, but that doesn’t make me qualified!

Could probably trade from 33 down to 45 and still take Coleman.

Who do you want with our first pick in 2nd?

I have and he is never open. -

Yes, hopefully they learned that big slow receivers don’t make it in the NFL. -

I don’t think Franklin, Polk or Coleman should be considered early in round 2. -
I would strongly prefer not to trade 2025 picks at a discount, though obviously they might see it differently. If they got 36 and 40, I don’t think I could find 2 WR that I would want to double up on. I presume Mitchell is out of play based on the character/effort rumors (ad it we don’t know if true). What 2 WR would you want in that range?
-
I would like for them to trade down with Washington, if they get back decent value. I don’t see anyone at pick 33 who is “must have”.
-
Trying to guess who their guy would be. For as lauded as this receiver class is, I’m not terribly excited about the guys left.
-
Justin Shorter was a top WR recruit coming from H.S. and he was picked late in the 5th round. I don’t like Franklin’s route running, contested catches ability or ability to play strong on the boundary. FWIW, Greg Cosell didn’t exactly articulate a ringing endorsement today on Buffalobills.com

In my opinion, Coleman would be a pretty bad pick. What would he help besides maybe a jump ball or 2? Definitely not explosive (at least speed and quickness). Not a deep threat nor a good technical route runner. What do you see in Polk that you like? I get that he is the try-hard guy and is good at contested catches, but I don’t see speed or quickness evident in his play. He can make a team and maybe be a starting receiver, but I don’t see more than an average NFL player.
-
I agree that they seem to really like him. I would avoid AD Mitchell - too many reports of character/effort issues for my taste. I don’t like Keon Coleman at any spot in round 2. I do like Ladd McConkey, but I acknowledge that he has some size/durability risk and probably isn’t a deep threat in spite of his 4.39 40. Polk and Baker are interesting, but not until late round 2 or later. Of course, these are just my fan opinions.

What queen are you referring to?

Where do the reputable analysts rate Franklin? Not very high. What eye test did he pass. I’ve watched multiple games of his and all of his combine on field work. I see a very thin guy who is fast, but not ultra fast and doesn’t have instant acceleration as evidenced by his poor 10yd split in the 40. His hands are pretty small and he is not strong enough tobexcel at contested catches. The combine was poor with his inability to run anything close to a straight line in the gauntlet drill and him falling running routes against air. Now, clearly he produced big plays in college, but the PAC 12 isn’t exactly known for their defense. I think he can be a complementary receiver in the NFL, but I am not expecting a star and in spite of his good speed I think he will struggle as a deep threat due to his lack of strength preventing fighting for contested catches. If the Bills pick him, I will hope that I am wrong about him, but he would not be my pick.

I think they like Franklin, but I have a bad feeling that he isn’t as good as the Bills apparently think he is.
