SO much frustration over the number of picks traded for Diggs. But the 1st, 5th, 6th and next year’s 4th is still roughly equivalent to a single pick - the 18th pick of the first round. Diggs for the 18th pick in round one sounds pretty good to me. They were never getting Jeudy, Lamb or Ruggs with pick 18.

I think Duke and Foster should expect significant competition for their spots. I still expect another WR will be taken by round 5 at the latest. Could be BPA in 3rd or 4th is WR.

Bills sign LB AJ Klein 3yrs $18M

Interesting idea: Edmunds' height and speed sometimes coming off the edge could seemingly help the pass rush. -
I saw that and disagree strongly with that assertion. Do you think that if the Bills had called Arizona and offered their 22nd pick 5th and 6th rounders and a 4th next year for pick 8 that they would have taken it? They would have laughed and hung up. i know that there are different versions of the draft pick value table floating around, but most are fairly similar. Here is a link to one that I based my analysis on: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/draft/draft_trade_value.htm Confirm my calculation, but don't forget to discount the 2021 4th by a round (equal to about a mid5th his year) as is typically done.

I know that they are saying that WR is deep this year, but I think it is a little over-stated. There are some good receivers, but I expect most of the 2nd tier will be gone before 54 - guys like Reagor, Mims, Schenault and Hamler will be gone by then. Maybe you can get Pittman, Claypool (who I was not that impressed with), Gabe Davis or Antonio Gandy-Golden at 54. -

I don’t think they can wait until 54 to get a WR if they want one who can contribute much this year. Why is that a waste? Neither Beasley nor Brown are young. -

Until they bring in at least two NFL caliber WRs, I’d argue that McKenzie would make this roster as it is presently constructed. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that it would be terrible if signs elsewhere, but the cupboard is flat empty ar WR after John Brown and Cole Beasley. I think they need to draft 2 WRs early, preferably 1 in 1st and 1 in 2nd or 3rd. -

I think Brady may have won enough such that he can consider other options -

Agreed. I don’t see a very good option in FA, but 2 WR in the first 3 rounds of the draft is OK with me. If they think taking a shot on a young underproducing vet like Funchess or Permian is worth it, then they should do so. -
Internally there’s some love for Tee Higgins
OldTimer1960 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t understand why many here have such a negative opinion of Higgins. OK, he is probably not in the Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs tier, but he sure looks like a very good prospect still. The Bills are positioned in the bottom 1/3 of each round - not the top 1/3 as we grew used to for many years. The prospects available at that spot are different than what we are used to. -

The FA WR group, other than Cooper, is very blah. I hope that the Bills don’t pay much for any of that group. Funchess is still young, but to date hasn’t looked like any kind of answer as a starting WR. If they can get him at a price that makes sense as maybe a 4th WR and they take a WR early in the draft (round 1 or early in round 2 by trade down or up) it could be semi-interesting, Is Funchess a competent ST player? -
Justin Jefferson should be our WR target at 22

Your logic makes sense to me. Still, doses it make sense to spend another #1 at CB with Tre White to pay? I guess that, if they can extend White, then he’d be 30 by the time Fulton’s rookie contract is up. Maybe that does make sense! -

I wasn’t necessarily advocating for Ruggs (but I do like him), rather I was not seeing the comparison to Tavon Austin. -

But at 22, is there anyone available who has star potential at any position? I don’t know that any of the DEs like Epenesa or Gross-Matos are potential stars, nor would I think that any of the OTs like maybe Josh Jones would be, either. Do you agree? If the idea is take a good, not great, player at a premium position like DE or OT over good, not great WR - I can understand that. But Bills don’t pick in round 2 until 54th overall and, while WR is purportedly deep, pickings could start getting slim by then -at the very you might miss out on your top few of the 2nd tier. I know that the Bills have other needs, but I see 2 NFL WRs and a special teams player at the position on the Bills’ current roster and little help likely at the position in FA. I agree - don’t reach at the position in round 1, but I’d be worried about missing out by waiting until 54 as well. But what “star” do you think is going to be available at 22? -

Ruggs is 3” taller and 14 pounds heavier than Austin was. That is a significant difference. -

Shenault measured 6’ 5/8” and 227 pounds. John Brown is listed at 5’11” 178 pounds and Cole Beasley is 5’8” 174. Shenault is almost 50 pounds bigger than Brown. I’m not the biggest Shenault fan (at least as a 1st round option - somewhere in round 2 sign me up), but he isn’t at all similar to Brown or Beasley. -
All positives that Bills’ decision makers believe are very important. Thanks!
