  1. Williams is still essentially a rookie, give both of them time b4 rushing to judgement. Besides, we know what we have in mcgee/mckelvin (or rather what we dont have). Patience is still the operarive word with both williams and gilmore.
  2. what im saying is that its been a bad game all around, 20plus mph winds arent an everyday occurance. It doesnt help that the D cant stop a peewee team. 29-55 256 yds 1 td, not bad, but not enough.
  3. Wvu d is terrible, add in 20 plus mph winds, and TTU top ranked pass D. Its a recipe for disaster, plus top wr Bailey is hurt n out of the game.
  4. Cody is a pt player, I get hes a massive body, but hes not THE answer for a NT.
  5. not as many as u may think, esp this year. Remember to look at the downfield accuracy.
  6. why not kick the Tires on Merriman, he can play OLB or DE, adds versatility, experience, and is already familiar with the defense.
  7. every black Qb in the modern era has been labeled a dual threat or run first Qb by some idiot...hell, i bet if you look back somebody thought Byron Leftwich had "wheels".
  8. Martez Wilson hasnt exactly lit the league on fire, neither has Mallett (although he has big time potential)
  9. I think if anything that this group as a whole is looking for something specific from the Qb position, they saw it in Cam 2 yrs ago, and no one else that we are aware of. Geno, I believe, fits what they want in a QB, however, that could all change if Chan isnt the coach.
  10. who is going to NEED a QB, KC, Buffalo, maybe Cleveland, JAx, Jets, we have just a good a shot as anybody at Geno
  11. lots of hindsight and what ifs, and of course the omission of the slew of concerns over the players you listed, but whatever. QB has def been neglected by this regime, I agree on that, the hubris displayed by Nix and Gailey trotting Fitz out there as a "franchise" Qb is unforgivable, but Buddy has added talent to the roster, now we have to find the scheme that allows them to be successful, clearly, something has to change.
  12. Unfortunately, i will be workin during the good games Sat. night, but the DVR is fired up n ready to go, cant wait to watch the USC/UGA and WVU/Texas game when I get home.
  13. Looks like a Leopard really can't change his spots... http://espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/story/_/id/8460759/tcu-horned-frogs-qb-casey-pachall-arrested-suspicion-dwi I'm guessing his stock won't be very high (good pick barbarian )
  14. This whole Race thing is absurd..."they have more big blacks down there..." BS. Its recruiting, its appeal. Texas produces more NFL playres than any other state in the country followed by Florida, but the SEC schools have alot of appeal that big 10 schools may not have, for example. Also, take a look at the ACC, BIG 12, PAC 12, are the majority of those schools not in favorable climates that allow for year round practice.
  15. Here's an excerpt from CBS Sports that may help clarify what I mean "And as crazy as it sounds, when NFL scouts break down his performance against Baylor, they'll find that Smith was actually, at times, even better than his stat-line would indicate. They'll see that his 88.2% completion rate was hardly just a function of West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen's explosive offense or even terrible coverage by Baylor's defense. They'll see that while Smith certainly was well protected in this contest and woeful tackling allowed WVU's receivers to rack up gaudy yardage after the catch, that the Mountaineer quarterback simply picked apart the Baylor defense with his eyes pre and post-snap and by demonstrating outstanding accuracy on a number of NFL-caliber throws. Smith completed seven of nine attempts that traveled at least 15 yards and was especially deadly on deep balls down the hash and sideline. Smith's ability to hit his receivers Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin in full stride played a critical role in their consistently generating yardage after the catch. He accomplished this on a variety of throws including a hot-read quick out to defeat an unexpected blitz, a deep out versus Cover Two in which he kept the safety honest with his quick progression and a number of picture perfect deep balls." http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/blog/rob-rang/20418642/heisman-no-1-overall-it-all-seems-possible-for-geno-smith
  16. The spread principles have been integrated into many teams offensive philosophies in the NFl, namely ours. Read Option QBs, that look to run first, are the ones that usually dont pan out (eric crouch), the other side to that is the Graham Harrells and Kellen Moores of the world. A spread offense can hide deficiencies in a QB, like lack of "NFL" arm strength, reading defenses ETC... However, the difference with Smith, and RG3 before him, is that they have the downfield accuracy, and noticeable arm strength. Fact of the matter is that the college game is turning to the spread more and more, just like back in the day when many teams ran the option, triple option etc... It is true that the spread "air raid" attack that harrell, RG3, and Smith all ran will inflate statistics, however, you have to look deeper than the numbers. What Smith has is everything you look for in a Franchise QB, time will show that, just keep an eye on him.
  17. He got pressured a bit in the Maryland game, took a sack or two, but he still lead his team to a win throwing multiple TD passes, no interceptions. also, you keep touting the "easy" schedule, as a possible reason for his success, but He doesn't make the schedule, would you like it more if he played down to the competition. Again, I will point you to the Orange Bowl, against Conference Champion Clemson. He's done it against big teams, and will continue to do it. Its not all about the stats, its about the skills he has demonstrated on Saturdays, and right now he appears to be the best Qb in College Football.
  18. The decisiveness that he has, the touch on the deep throws are a big part of why he's the best QB in College Football. This Kid is a special player, end of story. Like the analyst said during the game today, the majority of his throws are not these little dink n dunk screens, many are 10-15 yds down field or more, and the fact that he has been so smart with the football only goes to show how much he has improved over the last few yrs. at this pace he could easily end up going #1 overall.
  19. our safeties havent been much better, esp when they are supposed to pick up the reciever that is funneled to them (like in the NYJ game). Gilmore is getting better, so is williams, I think its tremendously unfair to expect them to be shut down corners so early in the season, but this week will be a big test.
  20. Swapping divisions with Baltimore would be great for Buffalo, hell it be great for all parties included really. total realingnment looks like this IMO, geographically, it makes the most sense NFC: North: Minn, Chi, GB, Indy South: Dal, NO Atl TB West: Sea, SF, Ari, STl East: NYG, PHI, wash Cinci AFC: North: Buf, Clev, Pitt, Det South: Mia, JAx, Tenn, Hou West:SD, Oak, KC Den East: NE, NYJ, BAlt, Carolina http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dCdBtUXdQjE/Tbrjc338V1I/AAAAAAAAB2I/7J8L8xNlBFg/s1600/NFL_Map.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.thetailgateknight.com/2011_04_01_archive.html&h=450&w=720&sz=36&tbnid=1tuvTcUg-OVFUM:&tbnh=76&tbnw=122&zoom=1&usg=__SvSB0ayHRKLlqXtI_nrEDM1Q7so=&docid=ubiTPPu-Kwr7MM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=GKBlUMWmIYH68QT0zoHgCA&ved=0CCcQ9QEwAw&dur=796
  21. if you score the TD there, we're up 17 pts, there is no way THAT Browns team score 18 pts in under 2 min.
