  1. So I guess Warren Moon isnt black now? Was he a "cornball brotha" so he doesnt count? My point was that the media always seem to fabricate a competition for the top qb spot even when there really should be none.
  2. i was speaking in terms of this yr. glennon has never really stood out but now afterva decent but not grear 2 yr career he suddenly is going to transform into a top tier prospect? color me skeptical. Wilson to me is a biggervproject than most think, and his history with petrino is troublesome for my liking.
  3. beware the guys that have "popped up" into the conversation recently. Glennon has never been great at any phase. Wilson is a petrino system qb. Alot of these guys are gonna look similiar come draft time, but be aware, they are not all good.
  4. Im not conceeding anything. Smith has shown improvement every yr for 3 consecutive yrs. His downfield accuracy and ball placement are especially appealing. Like most legit football evaluators, I dont put much stock in bowl games, good or bad. Ill be more interested In the Sr Bowl practices, combine. Another thing id like to mention is that the Glennon hype reminds me of the Gabbert hype from 3 yrs ago. It seems to me that every time there is an African American qb at the top of the rankings the media always seems to need to create a "great white alternative". Somebody who has done nothing to warrant such new found praise. Glennon to me is that guy this yr.
  5. Geno Smith is the best in this draft. His skill set with our skill players would be great.
  6. how do you know that? or are you just ASSuming?
  7. thats quite the list... but... Gronk had a history of back problems, and we werent looking for a TE, Spikes ran super slow, CJ is better than JPP, Lynch was ran out of town, nobody was taking Aldon Smith that high. The Qbs, meh, they're better than Fitz, but aside from that, im not THAT upset about missing on them. That first draft hasnt panned out that well, but the 2nd and 3rd drafts have been fine. A few things to remember, first, every team passed on Dalton, Kaep, and Wilson, not just US, so should every GM be fired as well. Second, typically, each draft only produces 1-2 immediate starters, with only 3-4 picks actually making a significant impact and having a career. The rest fall away, its the NFL folks, the best of the best.
  8. Chan wasn't "Buddy's Pick". Bill Cowher was Buddy's Pick, so was Shannahan, and several others, but after EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM REJECTED the job, because the previous GMs had done such a terrible job acquiring talent, he turned to CHan, a recommendation from his first option. Im not defending Chan in any way, he has been a massive disappointment, but to put that hire at Nix's doorstep just isnt fair.
  9. my vote goes to the WVU Duo of either Tavon Austin of Stedman Bailey. While neither has "elite" size, both of them have the speed, hands and courage to go over the middle or stretch the field. In terms of NFL comparisons, Austin reminds me of Steve Smith (Carolina) and Bailey compares well to a faster Chad Johnson in his prime.
  10. Geno is not RG3, he doesn't run very much if at all, but what he does do is use his mobility to find the open man downfield. Furthermore, he has the ACCURACY, to put the ball in the right place. Shannahan and Smith would be a great pair, but not because of what KS has done with RG3.
  11. I can't blame you for being skeptical, however, with a few exceptions, im deadly accurate in the qb scouting area. And I dont expect anyone to believe it, but its true. To me, I see a franchise qb in Smith only for this class of qbs. Thats not to say that he'll be the only good one. I do think there is a lot of talent in this draft.
  12. #3 would be a great position to Grab Geno Smith. let him play from day one, and if chan is still coaching we may be bad enough to draft Jedaveon Clowney next yr
  13. please give details, blanket statements are not welcome here's the problem, Smith is by most accounts the best QB in this class. He has everything you look for in a pro QB, including the polish on his passing skills. If there is one criticism on him it would be that he hangs in the pocket too long trying to make a play with his arm when he should either run or throw it away. I can quite literally pick apart EVERY QB in this draft, and Ive said from Day 1, as you well know, Smith is the best you'll get from this group.
  14. if fans don't come out for games simply because they know the team isnt moving in the immediate future then they arent really fans.
  15. No he didn't but his defense was virtually invisible the entire year thank you for that, i've been saying that for a while now. Mobility does not equal runner. Does he have mobility? Yes, is he a running QB? NO http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/488025/geno-smith check it out, in all but 2 games, he had multiple TDs. only ONCE did he throw for under 200 yds. hell, he only had 5 games with less than 300 yds passing. Meanwhile, the defense gave up a staggering 457 pts. That's a 38 ppg avg. Basically, we're talking about 2 bad games that really weren't that bad. Smith, Austin and Bailey, with a little help from the RBs were the only players worth a damn on that team once, he had a comp % below 55%. Lowest QB rating so far this season....101.
  16. It absolutely crazy to take an inside LB over the top QB. Ridiculous. Believe it or not, this team is close to being a winner, and a MLB/ILB is not the guy to get us over the hump. WE NEED A QB, and Geno Smith is that guy. Period, end of story, game over. If we are remotely close to being able to draft him, it needs to get done.
  17. I second the Smith/Austin combo idea, but Tavon will be gone by the mid 20's, id settle for Bailey though.
  18. You're kidding right? I cannot count the times i Have seen him survey the field and find the reciever, not only that but the vast majority of the time his ball placement is so spot on that he either hits his WR in stride, or puts it in a place where ONLY his man can catch it (like on fade routes).
  19. I don't honestly know how far Glennon will climb, but he has a couple qualities that you want in an NFL QB, like size, arm, and playing in a proish style offense at NC St. I did notice that he seems to have decent pocket mobility, and good zip on his rollout throws. I haven't seen many of his games, but I've seen enough to be intrigued by his potential.
  20. Spiller is a home run pick, if Chan didnt criminally underutilize him.
  21. He is a special player even with the injuries. I have no doubt he will make a full recovery and whoever takes him will not regret it.
  22. qb, wr, rb, center, corner, lb, versatile olineman
  23. How about Geno Smith and Stedman Bailey or Tavon Austin
  24. There's still the issue of compensation. Tags findings indicated that fines were appropriate for players, not suspensions, so how much $$$ in game checks were lost during these wrongful suspensions. Plus, in the case of Hargrove, he's a UFA, and its very likely that he could take action against Goodell under the premise that the bogus suspension has significantly impacted his financial future. He lost a year of his career.
