  1. I see it more like Poz. A good player who would have been nice to keep, but got paid more than he was worth by someone else.
  2. Can you explain for us the Bills long-term cap situation or are you just talking out your ass?
  3. How much guaranteed money did he get?
  4. Yeah, but what does his gf look like?
  5. I'd never advocate throwing big money at the guy & wouldn't ever want to rely on him as a #1, but as a #2 or #3 to act as a deep threat you could do worse.
  6. We'll see how Troup & Easley turn out this year. Spiller & Carrinton were good picks. A Williams & Sheppard look to be misses, but Dareus is better than he gets credit for, and Haiston & Searcy were good value picks, & last years draft looks very good so far. Go look at other team's drafts over the last 10 years & you'll see everyone misses on a lot of picks. FAs he brought in include Pears, Urbik, Chandler, & Mario - all are projected starters this year. He's also retained several players at reasonable rates. I already acknowledged the QB aspect, but the only QB miss I really fault him for is R Wilson. Obviously you disagree, but Kaep & Dalton were not the no-Brainers hindsight would indicate. I'm not arguing that he's a great GM at all, just that he's not the bumbling idiot he's made out to be by the arm-chair GMs that refuse to acknowlege the good with the bad.
  7. I'm happy with our secondary. I know we have ?s at CB2 & SS, but I'm not too worried about that. Searcy has played well at SS & A Williams could be a good fit there too. Between Mclovin & Brooks (I'm higher on Brooks than most) I think we're okay at CB2. I suspect another DB or 2 will be added through FA or the draft. While we're weak at WR, we have a solid #1 to build around & one of the deepest WR drafts in recent memory coming up. If we're lucky enough to land our QB in the draft I think we'll be much improved over last year.
  8. This is the kind of move I was expecting & hoping for (assuming his price is reasonable). We don't need an infusion of star power, just solid NFL starters in positions where that is lacking.
  9. I think it is a decent core. Even the best teams aren't stacked with stars at every position. When you switch coaches & philosophies a fair amount of turnover is to be expected. I suspect we'll see several holes filled with other team's cuts that will fill out the roster nicely so as to fit the new coach's vision. The team wasn't devoid of talent last year, & outside of Levitre I see no significant losses. I don't expect the Bills to tear it up this season, but if Marrone is any good they should be set up nicely to make a run the following year.
  10. I assume Coach Wednesday is in the camp that believes it inconceiveable for a team to try to stash its 6th & 7th picks on the practice squad. Our bumbling hick GM drafted so poorly, other teams were scavenging late picks off our waiver wire.
  11. You make a good point here. I'd like to see him brought in as an H back.
  12. On offense: Spiller, SJ, FJ, Wood, Glenn, Urbik, Chandler. On defense: Mario, KW, Dareus, Byrd, Gilmore. A lot of positions are still up in the air, & the jury is still out on a few (Searcy, Bradham, Brooks, etc.), but that's a pretty decent core to build around
  13. Who the !@#$ is Brian Dennehey? Yeah, get the !@#$ out of here?
  14. I don't see why it's strange for a new coaching staff to bring in new players that fit their vision. Nor do I see that as a full blown rebuild. Most of our first string positions are filled. Most of the added players will be depth. Sure, a few new starters will be added, but that's how the game works. I don't expect a SB run this year, but I didn't expect the 1990 Braves to go to the World Series. If we hit on a QB we're in fine shape.
  15. Strangely, despite being the right hand man of the whipping boy, the same crowd that gets off on trashing Nix thinks Jesus H. Whaley will be our savior.
  16. I've been pretty vocal about my pessimism regarding Tavaris Jackson. His contract is evidence that the FO doesn't think much more of him than I do. That said, with Fitz gone I'm glad he's on the roster. He'll never be more than average at best (among NFL starters) but as a safety net we could do worse. Maybe not much worse, but worse.
  17. Rid Brandon's been the de facto owner for all of about 10 minutes. Can he at least get one off-season before you start calling for his head?
  18. If Fitz was good in the 2-minute drill, Nix would be considered a genius right now. Edit: So would Chan.
  19. A few economically sound FA acquisitions & a good draft will leave me feeling pretty optimistic.
  20. So far Nix seems to be the front runner. The only real knock on him is his failure to find a franchise QB, which is a significant indictment of him as that is the most important position on the field. However despite doing a decent, not good but decent, job of drafting, & a good job of bringing in & retaining quality FAs, it's en vogue amongst Bills fans to label him an incompetent POS. I love irony
  21. I can see where some of you would have preferred to outbid the Titans on this, but at $8m you can't rationally say this is but so terrible a move. If that money is used to fill other holes and/or retain other players, you have to weigh that against what was lost...unless you just get off on complaining.
  22. I wonder if we'll get a comp pick for him.
  23. I could be wrong, but I think he meant Fitz is likely to end up in a backup role & just used a poor selection of words in his attempt to convey that.
  24. Agreed, Meatwad. The negativity, cynicism, and panty bunching is really making the board an unpleasant experience at a time I've been looking forward to for weeks. It's a shame.
