  1. This is why I have so much more respect for you and people like you, than the run of the mill partisan Democrat (or Republican for that matter) - I may not agree with you on many issues, but at least your concerns have to do with issues rather than political affiliation - and on this issue I do agree. One aspect you mentioned that's been largely overlooked is blackmail. I'm not worried about anyone finding out what I post here or whatever porn I've looked up. My concern is that once people in power have access to all the phone calls, emails, websearches, FB posts, etc. then any time someone gets out of line or becomes a threat, those in power can use that info to silence or destroy them.
  2. I think that was just to appease the anti-gay crowd.
  3. Who is this Belinda? She sounds like a slut.
  4. It depends on his intent. If he passed it on to the Guardian with the intent (or knowledge) that it could be helpful in aiding the enemy he could be guilty of light treason. You don't know you're talking about. All things are not presumed constitutional until the SC says otherwise. A better school of thought charges all branches of government with upholding the constitution. The Supreme Court has simply become the final arbiter by default.
  5. This is not good. With Tebow the Pats will be unstoppable. Let us not forget that God is on Tebow's side. When the Bronco's started Tebow God rewarded them by carrying them to the playoffs. When the Jets exploited Tebow God smited them. The Pats will be rewarded for their kind gesture. This is also troublesome because it is yet another reason not to hate the Pats and I hate reasons not to hate Pats.
  6. Don't run him off just yet. This could be entertaining.
  7. Well, you're quicker than your brother. I'll give you that.
  8. I'll not delve into the common "locker room" discourse, but you can't honestly say men and women process sex the same way. I'm not saying that makes it okay, but a female teacher with a male student is not the equivalent of a male teacher with a female student. And quite frankly, it's not even close. I'm pretty sure your statistical analysis includes boys who are legitimately abused. If you isolated 17 year old boys that have sex with hot 20-somethings I'd bet anything those numbers don't play out. And from what I know of you, you should be wise to that kind of statistical manipulation.
  9. I don't recall if they've been mentioned, but U2 is (or was) about as overrated as a band has ever been. Not saying they suck, but they have 2 or 3 good songs and dozens of decent but forgettable songs, and for the better part of a decade they were considered one of (if not the) greatest rock bands in the world. Their greatest achievement has been staying relevant for the last 25 years. And while there's something to be said for that, it's hard for me to justify their place in music history. They are to music what stat compilers are to sports. A guy who plays consistently for 15 years and never really dominates but has impressive career stats because he was ok for so long. Plus they never had the impact or influence so many others have had. Say what you will about Nirvana, but they ushered in a new era of music. The Beatles took the world by storm. Zeppelin & The Stones were both iconic bands that largely defined the music of their time. U2 was just kind of there. And their lead singer is the biggest dump ever taken.
  10. This is what so many soft lefties don't get about foreign policy. A President who talks a tough game and backs it up may piss people off, but at least they fear you. A President who takes a neutral approach doesn't have as much influence, but avoids international backlash. A president who speaks softly but acts decisively when necessary will generally have the respect and fear of the international community. But a President that talks tough and then crumbles like a waif when the **** hits the fan is seen as nothing more than a shite talking pu$$y boy that no one fears or respects, but everybody hates. That's Obama for you.
  11. Now you're just being sarcastic. The MSM is usually really good about playing the part of government watchdog. Remember when a handful of soldiers paraded naked jihadists around Abu Grahib? The MSM was all over it and demanded that we know how high up the ladder it went - Rumsfeld? Cheney? Bush? What did they know and when did they know it? And let us not forget the firing of 6 US attorneys. They were all over that making sure we knew why it was done and what "mistakes were made" (thank you Alberto "The Eunuch" Gonzalez). They probably just aren't as anxious to report on these stories because government scandals involving the AG providing illegal assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels, the IRS using it's power to harass and stifle political adversaries, the DOJ tapping AP phone lines, and the President allegedly standing by refusing to make a move for fear of offending a mob engaged in an attack on a US embassy just aren't as important or as interesting as a president replacing 6 US attorneys.
  12. And if my aunt was a man wouldn't she be my uncle? The flaw in your hypo is fairly elementary. You presuppose that one man owning something prevents another from creating something else. The desirability of wealth disparity is a separate discussion. But the fact that you've constructed such a paradigm in your mind, whose fundamental construct is materially different from the reality it is meant to represent explains a lot about why you subscribe to the philosophies you do. It also explains how someone intelligent enough to get through medical school can espouse such ridiculous beliefs - It's not the logic that's flawed, but rather the premise. And you're too emotionally tied to the belief in that premise to ever honestly question it.
  13. To be fair, they did break the Trayvon Martin case. To be fair, they did break the Trayvon Martin case.
  14. I'd say, with some reservation, that Phish is underrated. Because of their following, genre, & Trey's lame personality, they're often dismissed as a hippie jam band. This overshadows their musical talent. Also, as with most complex music, you have to listen to most of their songs a few times before you really hear it. Some knock the random silly nature of their lyrics, but I find them humorous and occasionally poetic. My biggest criticism is that despite their technical proficiency their songs often lack heart and emotion - I feel a lot more from a simple tune from the Violent Femmes than an epic Phish song.
  15. I was paying attention throughout the Bush years and liberals collectively **** a brick over FISA. The fact that some of them are not only OK with this but actually defend it, proves beyond all doubt that these people have no objective position on these issues & will passionately and unquestioningly follow whatever their political heroes tell them to think. They fully embody the role of useful idiot. This is why I have more respect for outright Marxists than your average big D Democrat. Sad but true. Erwin Chemerinsky is fond of saying that any time the justices can conceive of something actually happening to them they're likely to find a 4th amendment violation.
  16. Although it's a clearly bogus lawsuit, it's probably a great business decision to pursue it for the publicity alone. Not only is she getting exposure, she's probably a minor cult hero to a contingency of anti-fox types.
  17. Sounds like a case could be made for light treason.
  18. Can you or anyone else PLEASE tell me how "stand your ground" has anything whatsoever to do with this case?
  19. I like that answer
  20. I wasn't trying to imply that everyone in Syria is a **** bag - I've known Syrians I thought quite highly of. I was thinking more along the lines of what you said - A civil war between two factions, both of whom (for the most part) don't like us. I don't really see why we should be involved.
  21. Personally, I don't much care about the exploits of Sanford or Weiner. The only troubling aspect of any of this to me is if Weiner actually was sending rooster shots to girls he doesn't know (I thought he knew them; maybe I'm wrong). As far as anyone cheating on his wife - if I don't know their relationship I'm not going to pass judgment. For all I know his wife froze up and he needed some hot action. You can't fault a man for that.
  22. I haven't been following any of this because up until about a week or so ago I had my hands full, but from a very cursory overview it seems to me that all the to do is because two groups, both of whom hate us, are having a feud. I'm sure there's more to it, but can anyone briefly fill me in on what I'm missing and why I should care?
  23. http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/the-exchange/3-myths-working-women-190653888.html Turns out this bogus line about women making $0.70 for every $1 a man makes is utter bull ****. Of course, some of us have known this for years.
  24. I'm curious how the DA got info regarding her alleged prostitution and why he pursued it in the first place. In my short time working in the court system I've seen that prosecutors are often worse than the criminals they prosecute. I don't want to make a blanket statement, because a lot of them are fine and decent people, but a disproportionate number are self-righteous judgmental !@#$s who would do well to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. And yes, but only if she takes me on pro bono.
