  1. On a semi-related note, if you walk through the gate with a pint of whiskey in your pocket, what's the likelihood of it being discovered?
  2. I agree with your overall point, that we're unlikely to solidify every position with a solid starter in the draft, I just don't think the situation is as dire as it sounds. If we had someone like Mike Williams from TB or James Jones from GB to play opposite SJ on the roster right now I don't think many would see a glaring hole there. Also, IDK how bad Chandler's ACL is, but if he's healthy I don't really think we'd consider TE a hole necessarily. There will still be waiver wire additions & a second wave of FA, & UDFAs. If we can score 2-3 good players in the draft I think we'll be in good shape.
  3. I think this overstates the holes. If we had another solid WR & another solid LB we might want more depth, but I doubt we'd really refer to those positions as holes, therefore I would only count each of those positions once.
  4. That's tough. If Marrone is going to run a WC offense I roll the dice on Barkley. If he's planning something more vertical that requires his QB to throw 30+ yd outs on a rope I take the Bucs deal.
  5. Can't help but think if White makes a strong showing in camp, seeing as how he can run the same offense RG3 does, that Washington might consider trading Cousins.
  6. Outside of LG (and MAYBE TE depending on Chandler's knee), I don't see how we're significantly worse off at any position RIGHT NOW than we were going into the season last year ... And we still have the draft, remainder of FA, and camp cuts to fill those holes and more. I'm confident that by opening day the roster will be significantly improved over that of last year. I don't expect them to set the world on fire this year, but from my vantage point it appears they are going about building a winner the right way. I still reject the notion that we're several years away from being a contender, and I hope to God the players and coaching staff don't feel that way, because if you go into the season with loser mentality you'll end up in the losers' circle. If Marrone is the coach we hope he is there is plenty of talent on the roster for the Bills to surprise people this year. It's not like we have a particularly tough schedule.
  7. I don't think we should take anyone b/c at some point in time the organization has chosen not to retain a player of value at every position, so therefore whoever they draft will be let go in 4 years. Duh-da-durrr.
  8. Lawyer Milloy - She should have named him Doctor.
  9. I'm sorry Mrs. Walker, but it's true. Your son isn't a very good writer. I know his resume indicates otherwise, but when you actually read his words you see how spectacularly unspectacular he is. I can only assume he has photos of a high ranking ESPN executive acting like Matt Damon and Michael Douglas doing an HBO movie about Liberace that neither is being paid much to do (which raises an unrelated conundrum, but I digress). The point is, ESPN's AFC East column was FAR more interesting & informative when the whiny little man-child Tim Graham was writing it.
  10. How is that admirable? I'd rather try and lose than have a SB ring that someone else won.
  11. I know so many highly educated people who actually believe this bull ****. Apparently the root cause of the deterioration of our inner cities isn't the disintegration of the family or children growing up in hostile environments without positive role models, but the overpolicing of the neighborhoods.
  12. He at least deserves some credit for saving us from the scourge of Manbearpig.
  13. This reminds me of a Braves player (I forget who) in spring training prior to the 1990 season saying the Braves were trying to win it all. After a decade of futility and coming off another last place finish I thought that sounded pretty ridiculous too. They lost the World Series in extra innings of game 7.
  14. That a top team has been weak at running back for multiple years indicates they aren't as easy to come by as one might think.
  15. If Lattimore is there in the 4th there'd have to be a very compelling reason to pass. The Bills are in the unique situation of having a top player at a key position who is likely to be very good for another year & not much after. So if you're building a team to win for the next 2-5+ years you've got to look to his replacement. And if you can get a 1st rd talent in the 4 th with the luxury of bringing him back slowly, that's an opportunity you have to consider.
  16. I expect Woods will be good, but if given the choice I'd rather have a more dynamic WR like T Williams, or a more physical guy like Hopkins.
  17. I haven't been this concerned since Canada bombed the Baldwins.
  18. I recall year before last there was a significant contingency on this site that was adamant that the Bills should throw $10m/yr at this guy.
  19. I take 2 things away from this: 1. The plan is to run a fair amount of 3-4 with a traditional nose tackle. 2. They still have hope for Troup. Apparently Troup appears to have recovered, but the team is hedging their bets, making sure they have a viable alternative at NT, but without a long term commitment, hence the 1 year deal.
  20. What a silly twist this thread has taken. Now Kurt Warner is a journeyman? I think you shed the the "journeyman" title somewhere between your second league MVP award, and your third SB appearance as starting QB. Edit: On another note, I can't believe those of you who turn your nose up at this deal. Kevin Kolb is the best QB we've had since Fitz. Seriously, it's at worst a lateral move that saves some cash and potentially eases the cap situation as it would have been had we kept Fitz. Plus, the biggest shortcoming with Fitz, contrary to popular belief, wasn't his arm strength, but his tendency to turn the ball over in the final moments with the game in reach. Perhaps Kolb is better at the last minute rally.
  21. I'm not holding my breath on this one. If the money's similar there's no reason for him to jump ship.
  22. Thanks for the tip, but I just don't care enough about the subject to spend that much time on it. You seem to be really interested and really passionate about this topic. Seems a little strange coming from the one poster who professes to romance the ladies more than all others, but I'm not sure what conclusions to draw from that. And thanks for clearing up the whole nature v nurture debate for us. I didn't realize the consensus was in on that one, but then my IQ is a bit lacking. But hey, that's why I have guys like you to defer to.
  23. Why is it inflammatory? Does it somehow denigrate people? And FWIW, I did a quick yahoo search just out of curiosity and the numbers I found were closer to 40-50%. I'm at work and don't have the time or inclination to search medical journals. Either way, I think it's safe to say the number is disproportionate to the population at large.
  24. Sorry for being unclear, that portion of the post was directed at Miller. The fact that it was a psychologist made me assume that he might well have gotten his info from a reliable source. I never claimed it was gospel and made that very clear. Sorry if that's beyond your reading comprehension.
  25. Funny how this so offends you two. I even qualified it by stating that it was unconfirmed and just something I heard, yet you decide to give a snide response anyway. I'll remember not to waste my time conversing with you. BTW, can you provide a link to these exclusive scientific journals you've cited, Dr. Miller? Thanks in advance dude.
