ESPN Insider : McShay latest 2 rd mock draft
Rob's House replied to Dat Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know why it's so hard for people to wrap their mind around the possibility that Levitre, while being a good player, might not have been the type of player that they valued that highly at that position. Perhaps they wanted someone more physical. Different schemes utilize different attributes. For example, one player might be perfect for a zone block scheme, but a poor fit for a power blocking scheme, and vice versa. Isn't it at least possible that they wanted to be tougher up front? I noticed year before last when we played the Jets that our offense was physically dominated and beat up by their D. Levitre does many things well, but he is more of a finess blocker than a mauler. That means you're less likely to pick up short yardage first downs behind him, and your QB is less likely to have a pocket to step up into to deliver a strike. -
That's exactly what you're doing, but you're presenting it as though it were factual. To tie into another thread, what you're doing is a variation of confirmation bias. You're molding a story, the facts of which you don't know, to fit your preconceived notions of how people & the world work, & you're filling in the gaps with unverifiable assumptions consistent with your prejudice.

ESPN Insider : McShay latest 2 rd mock draft

And the legend of Levitre continues to grow. I heard that Levitre once killed a Grizzly bear with his bare hands. In all seriousness, it is possible that he wasn't resigned because the team didn't value the position as highly. But then, it's also possible that the team didn't value that particular player that highly. Assuming that because they didn't resign one player at a particular position that they will never resign a player at that same position is faulty logic. -

Why do you say that? -
That blueprint may include a dominant offensive line as a primary focal point. An elite QB or WR may well be preferable to an elite G, but if there isn't an elite QB or WR available when you pick then that doesn't do you much good.

I wonder if the player in question is as gay as this thread. I'm all for gay people being treated like everyone else, but this militant pro-gay steam some of you are spewing sounds more like the "look at me! Look at me! See how open minded I am!" grandstanding I'm used to seeing from pathetic tools dealing with white guilt who have to be even more outraged than the black guy to prove you're "one of the good one's." Someone in this thread even went so far as to denigrate as juvenile and ignorant the belief that gay sex is "icky". I got news for you tough guy: Butt sex IS "icky". Swimming around in someone else's **** is kind of gross - and that's true of heterosexual butt love too. The point is, can't we just agree that gay people shouldn't be ridiculed for their sexuality without being fags about it.

I think Warmack would be a fine pick. The left side of our line would be bigger & more physically imposing than any I can think of. He wouldn't be my first choice, but he's in my top 8. I also reject the notion that replacing Levitre with Warmack would be running in place b/c Warmack is a different kind of player & one I expect to be far more dominant than Levitre. And the money that would have gone to pay Levitre for the next 4 years can be used elsewhere.

Kolb would be a good choice for the right price. He's not likely to become a franchise QB, but he's probably better than T-Jax and there's an outside chance he could turn the corner. AZ was winning last year before he got hurt.

If You Could Make One Song Disappear Forever ...
Rob's House replied to Gugny's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I don't get why anyone would put Gordon Lightfoot in this thread. I mean, I know he's Canadian, but he's a very good song writer. Are you sure you're not thinking of Cat Stevens? -
It's funny to me how racially uptight white yankees are. When I was in college I would sometimes wear a shirt that had 3 confederate flags on it (The First National, and two others, I don't recall) and no black guys ever had a problem with it - And it wasn't out of ignorance or to inflame; more of a statement that I rejected the conventional wisdom regarding the South and the War of Yankee Agression. I'd make statements in class that would offend the sensibilities of the average yank (like most black guys don't tip) and no one (except a couple of white girls) ever took offense. The black guys were more likely to laugh and say "Man, Rob, you don't hold back". There was no tension, no resentment. We were comfortable pointing out and laughing about differences between predominantly black and predominantly white culture without getting our backs up about it. ****, at this point we were all in the same boat. Also, I had a lot more respect for the black guys I would hang out with who would openly tell me they didn't really like white people (I was the exception; go figure) than for the uptight types who pretended to be offended (or worse actually were) by the acknowledgement of relatively innocuous racial distinctions.

Does the first we wasted on Rob f'n Johnson count? -
I saw some ass hole the other day with an "I Love Obamacare" bumper sticker on his SUV. I hear this, but it seems to be the opposite. The insurers have to cover everything they already cover and then some, but the premiums are capped. How do they not go under?

Putting in my contacts or cutting onions usually gets me flowing freely. -
It wasn't TSA. Norwegian confiscated it & gave it back when we left. They wanted to make sure I paid $7.50/drink on the boat. Fortunately I had enough Beam to get me through to the next port where I could re-up. Edit: So as to not totally hijack the thread, might I suggest pints of high-end Bourbon; or if you're well within the resources & have friends that would appreciate the gesture, matching engraved revolvers.

Oh nice. I need to find one of these. Would make flying & court a lot more fun. I got the idea when I hopped on a cruise ship last week. When I got my luggage it was a box of wine & liter of rum lighter. Luckily they missed my bottle of Beam.

The people get the government they deserve. Everyone's for cutting spending, except the spending that ends up in their pocket. Old conservatives want to cut spending as long as you don't touch their SS or medicare. Libs want higher taxes as long as it's for a tax bracket above theirs. And they all point the finger & blame someone else. -
I don't know if such a thing exists, but if you could find a nice flask that can get through metal detecters, you've got a winner.

Landry Jones - QB - Oklahoma
Rob's House replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I assume the criticism that he lacks "it" (which I assume ~ clutch) is accurate just b/c I've heard it consistently from people who have watched him more than I, but watching him on video (not highlights) his talent is undeniable. I've seen more from him in terms of touch & accuracy than Wilson, Nassib, Bray, or Manuel.
