  1. I’d be curious to see more of where the split is behind the scenes. Obviously some unhappy with the front office and I find it hard that anyone’s super pro-Gase... But is there a contingent of players that are tired of tantrums over things like a fine for no showing work or freakouts about a GM accepting a call about a possible trade? Some have to be frustrated that the teams not playing well and guys are making immature distractions that make them all look bad and gets in the way of putting the best possible play on tape.
  2. there’s certainly underlying issues in that room but the very specific circumstance here looks worse on him than them- unless there’s an underlying issue like not enforcing the rules consistently. That they publicly display it at least suggests they are consistent and want the expectations and consequences known/visible... but it’s the jets so who knows for sure
  3. shame on them if they didn’t communicate the expectations or consequences but whether or not he’s playing on Sunday he should be showing up to mandatory events for his employment and meetings with team doctors and trainers while injured are surely part of it
  4. turns out even good teams face tough opponents I know, I know, joe ain’t never scurrrred and he’s going to tell the whole internet about it ?
  5. I mean, he decided not to tell the team until after he no call no showed his job twice in a week?
  6. you really hate acknowledging any team might be good
  7. I’m not saying never run. I’m saying that 2nd and 4 is an acceptable spot to take a shot. and for as many long runs I’m sure you’ve seen more long pass plays
  8. cause most nfl scoring is off chunk plays not 18 play drives dominated by running in all advantageous downs and distances
  9. you put the worst qb in football behind a good line and you’ll still be bad and he will make everyone else look much worse
  10. heaven forbid they pick the likely highest viewed and not the highest upside
  11. It’s a lot of context and admittedly we have little access to that info. if on 3rd we call a bomb to beasley its a little aggressive. But if the player is scared to make a mistake despite a pick being a punt and he throws an uncatchable ball due to that aversion to risk - it’s bad culture. Fumbles or lack of awareness are exhausting to watch. One thing that drove me nuts with Tyrod discussions here was people saying he didn’t make mistakes but often times not throwing the tough ball is a much bigger mistake than throwing it and ending up a pick. Throwing a contested ball deep on 3rd that gets picked is low risk high reward.... even if it flops.
  12. the real trick is to not pull back immediately after a few mistakes.
  13. Seems this is usually the kiss of death. If things are already going poorly enough to warrant the statement- by end of year it’ll be bubbling over.
  14. but it’s certainly skewed by games where a teams behind and trying to dig out of a hole, no?
  15. I suppose shoot up is a bit overstated in my wording... but even an extra win or two is big. and agree a little health, good bounce or lucky call go a long way in sorting out the crowded middle of the pack. but yea, it’s definitely blending to compare total wins with average differential. Doing the average differential with the average outcome (win percentage) should be a better metric. You wouldn’t do a graph of average yards per game to total touchdowns, knowing there are different game counts, for instance. Not a big deal but it’s not the right build out
  16. I think the more interesting framing is coins to beane vs McD While the happy family is nice- does a little more discord help push guys past their comfort zone and into better places? For instance does McD go harder to win now if he doesn’t feel incredibly safe with the GM? Does beane push more talent on the roster even if not perfect culture fits if it’s not the guy that got him the gig? It’s a fine line before dysfunction but something I’ve pondered a bit the last year or two.
  17. there’s a lot of sheer talent. you are counting on a lot of inconsistent pieces becoming consistently their best versions at the same time though.
  18. Is there a reason you are blending a per game with an overall net? Wouldn’t win percentage Jake more sense than total wins? that’s not a small amount though. Go back through many of our 6-10 type seasons and toss a touchdown on it score every other week and that record would shoot up often times.
  19. I’d be shocked if he’s productive enough to be an upgrade after this long if he is I’d have no problem.
  20. maybe a Gilmore? I love tre but maybe you keep him and Darby and get a playmaker elsewhere? and not a great player but I’d argue the move from MD to Star was not worth the high cost on the cap last year.... would’ve been nice to bring in some line or receiver help.
  21. but when you cut, trade or let all your young talent immediately walk... you have to sign or trade for some. Also elite playmakers are definitely a major missing ingredient.
  22. if the expectation is perfection you can fault anyone. but if you think the offense has any high ground walking into film review this week, you are highly mistaken. The defense isn’t perfect but it’s miles ahead.
  23. Our 6th lineman is a better blocker and equal receiving threat. Lee Smith has never made sense to me. I’ve been posting this commentary for years. And somehow he’s back. And on a healthy contract.
  24. We want it to go faster but it can’t? that’s a major statement with no backing
