  1. by good I meant he’s an above average player but not a star (yet). I think more touches, and as you mentioned cleaning up a few pieces of his game, and he could be great. I may be skewing impact of day 2 RBs a bit high as a benchmark (I think RBs in day two are tremendous value for most teams)because truly I didn’t mean it a knock to say he was good and they hit on the pick (on the 50-50 he was the winner and ford the wait and see)
  2. a third is still a pretty big wild card for most positions. But relatively reliable at RB. And hunt comes with risk. I think it’s a fair tipping point in there for his max value. Like 3-4 I’d guess some team would agree
  3. Ed O looks good (as he should as a top 10) ford - meh singletary - good... 50-50 on day 2 is fine.neither big bust or boom. A good and a work in progress. the rest: perfectly fine swings. Let them work through the system and grow and 1-2 might surprise us. if we change coaches in a year (Not saying we will) this class has potential to fall apart fast, but with stability could be solid.
  4. Minimum spend has nothing to do with being competitive and everything to do with players ensuring that enough dollars are promised to float their way
  5. where in are the limits drawn on where you can cross over from celebrating the best of lives to acknowledging the worst? were comments about Michael Jackson’s scandals off limits? when OJ passes can only football be celebrated? aaron Hernandez’s suicide? how many hours or days before it’s discussed? its a clumsy and messy issue dealing with celebrity deaths in the social media age. Especially ones with serious accusations. There’s no one size fits all. The family of his accuser probably feel a bit crummy with each celebration of him the last decade or so. Perspective is a hell of a thing and if you had been raped by a man in power you may appreciate seeing some acknowledgement today. that said, I won’t pretend all bringing it up truly have good intentions in their hearts either. You just kind of have to roll with it being a spectrum when you invite a billion people to the discussion
  6. I think culturally we pretend we know these guys a lot more than we really do. Makes us all part of the team to do so. I’ve tried to shift away from “Kobe’s amazing” to “Kobe’s tenacity on the court is impressive” as we don’t know much about any of the people in their day to day but certainly can admire traits. It’s one I backslide on a lot, as it’s so culturally ingrained though.
  7. by giving a team an asset (pick) of value- sure. Ok boomer right but if the team with limited cash flow was loading up on day two draft picks and the cowboys are getting an extra couple vets... is that bad? all you do is move it on the balance sheet and treat it as any other cap. 1 team has 195 the other 205 and any rollover or 3 year averages are based off the adjusted numbers.
  8. it just underscores that outside of getting a solid HC/QB combo the rest is just assembling talent and there’s no one way to do it.
  9. plus, it’s public knowledge
  10. 27.... ultimately, if you believe he forcibly raped a young woman at work, it’s an all around weird situation to glorify him today. You never want to bash a guy in a tragic story like dying with his daughter.... but there’s something likewise a bit gross about celebrating a rapist if you believe the story. And Being 24 wouldnt excuse what he was accused of, if he did it. its the weird thing in celebrity. We get likable marketable products and in his case it looks like he had a lot of good in him. But hard to know behind the curtain. ultimately I’ll opt for sending condolences to his family and not judging too harshly those that may be impacted or triggered by his past accusations.
  11. i was going to say DE especially being an “on the field” event at the sports biggest day... but not sure he was even remotely close to the same stratosphere
  12. I think most ive seen bring that up aren’t saying he deserved it, so much as he might not deserve the pedestal its a big world with lots of opinions out there. If you believe him guilty, and especially if you have some sort of history with it, I imagine it’d be particularly hard to bite your tongue.
  13. Easy to say but I bet you hop in the car on rainy or even snowy days too.
  14. to be fair not crashing is about 99% of flying
  15. I agree it’s a big story. My gf said “I heard Kobe Johnson crashed in a helicopter” clearly she doesn’t care about basketball and it made it to her... which says a lot. but also most people won’t remember where they were either
  16. it’ll get sorted out soon enough. Probably not worth heavy speculation.
  17. That’s the latest. All the kids but not his wife. Can’t imagine how she’s going to be feeling. Terrible.
  18. While big sports news, id be surprised if it goes that far
  19. As important: why is it an insult to be the worst nfl day trip for these guys? Is it meaningful in any way that the rams are not looking forward to flying into buffalo and praying it’s not late in the season? Does that insult the residents?
  20. Outside of draft night, what would be different if he was a little slow though? They wouldn’t say it! They keep the reads simplified already.
  21. the last I read was that this amounted to bensel advises them to be direct, own the issue and include authorities. not wanting emails released is pretty basic and even if there was nothing damning in them, could be plenty of off color comments or distractions or... it’s not crazy to have a baseline of filing to keep communications private as a rule of thumb. if it’s how to cover up obviously the whole thing changes to be fair, not wanting to release emails between the organizations is not the same as covering up for the church. it could be but as is... not yet. heres their statement: While there is current litigation relative to the New Orleans Archdiocese and clergy sex abuse, our comments are limited only to the scope of our involvement. The New Orleans Saints organization has always had a very strong relationship with the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese reached out to a number of community and civic minded leaders seeking counsel on handling the pending media attention that would come with the release of the clergy names in November of 2018. Greg Bensel, Senior Vice President of Communications for the New Orleans Saints, was contacted and offered input on how to work with the media. The advice was simple and never wavering. Be direct, open and fully transparent, while making sure that all law enforcement agencies were alerted. The New Orleans Saints, Greg Bensel and Mrs. Gayle Benson were and remain offended, disappointed and repulsed by the actions of certain past clergy. We remain steadfast in support of the victims who have suffered and pray for their continued healing. "Further, the Saints have no interest in concealing information from the press or public. At the current discovery stage in the case of Doe v. Archdiocese, the Saints, through their counsel, have merely requested the court to apply the normal rules of civil discovery to the documents that the Saints produced and delivered to Mr. Doe's counsel. Until the documents are admitted into evidence at a public trial or hearing in the context of relevant testimony by persons having knowledge of the documents and the events to which they pertain, the use of the documents should be limited to the parties to the case and their attorneys. If admitted into evidence of the case, the documents and the testimony pertaining to them will become part of the public record of the trial of the case."
  22. I don’t doubt on a poll of folks that have lived in each that your opinion would be popular. if I were a 22 year old from Alabama I’d suspect I’d be pretty indifferent to cincy as a reputation for a city to visit while Buffalo is “practically Canada” and has darn near the snow of the next two cities combined so it’s probably the one I’d be more likely to blurt out on the spot without much knowledge of either.
  23. because guys like that are complete wildcards not plans you bank on. You pretend he isn’t there and if you suddenly have an extra explosive guy because he pans out- all the better
  24. Buffalo- 94 inches a year on average Cleveland 59 green bay 49 Pitt 44 Detroit 43 Cincinnati 24 its got a rep for a reason.
