  1. This is my new favorite weekly thread. he’s had a long career and in a passer friendly era
  2. lots of details out since then. It’s a strength coach who had a medical emergency and is undergoing tests at the hospital.
  3. saying that hill had a good game isn’t fair enough in that comparison.
  4. yup. He did everything you’d ask of a backup and got a break in his biggest play. It’s one of those process vs results things. His stat line was solid, but there were red flags consistent with his resume on display. I wouldn’t suddenly think Barkley is a starter if he beats the jets with a nice stat line.
  5. it’s not his fault but certainly to his advantage as it takes a great deal of pressure off
  6. ha- yup. Ireland joined in the 2015 offseason, so I just listed top 3-4 rounds since the 2016 draft... that class was a haul but even 16 was excellent. hell, 19 having Gardner Johnson as a 4th as his second pick behind McCoy as their starting center in round 2 is pretty solid for just having a 2 and 4.
  7. If you accept that they trade away picks, I think Jeff Ireland’s has a pretty decent impact since joining the saints front office go back a few years and look at Every top 3-4 round pick 2019- Eric McCoy, Chauncey Gardner 2018- Marcus Davenport, trequan smith 2017- lattimore, ramcyzk, kamara, Hendrickson Marcus Williams and anzalone 2016- Sheldon rankins, Michael Thomas, vonn bell and onyemata not a terrible batch. Davenports the big question mark with health issues but has been explosive when healthy. Trequan isn’t great but as a third rounder you aren’t nailing them all. 2016 is great.
  8. LB48 is so mad at you right now
  9. the salary and role are always where these get dicey. People act like I’m a hater and then say they’d give him like $5m plus incentives to essentially be what he’s been in Nola prior to this.
  10. put another way, if the season ended today, and he was a free agent- no one would be handing him a starting job but all 32 clubs would be glad to have the guy on their roster in some role.
  11. as a saints season ticket holder I’m more invested in his success than anyone here. And like having the guy on the team. he played a good game from a backup qb. but that TD called back was very much underthrown.... and if giving him credit for plays called back can I take off credit for that deep ball where the punter could’ve gotten it there more accurately? Late and behind are common issues he’s had and those were still on display today. wasnt a peterman fan - didn’t think he had the arm no matter what college or pre-season stats were or what a good guy he is enjoyed fitz- didn’t think he or that season with the fast start was sustainable because of skill concerns like taysom a lot as a player, but not as a franchise qb.
  12. he’s consistently been standing back there slow on the reads, and his biggest pass might be the worst throw of the day by any nfl qb. hes grinding out a Tebow-esque game so far. But Tebow won quite a few playing safe with a good defense. And that works for a month here. That TD throw was awful too. the dude heaves some balls downfield though
  13. the drop was ugly but they happen to all qbs. so far it’s about the game I expected. He just happened to hit the wild deep throw so it looks a bit better on paper. But that was My big qualifier- he heaves erratic deep balls that sometimes happen to be caught because it’s hard to defend a deep ball 25 yards off target but with just enough loft for a receiver to see and react to. That Minnesota playoff game had one too.
  14. That deep ball was so bad that it worked atlanta thought they were playing defense not punt coverage
  15. they run hot/cold. When on they can be elite. Averaging like 15 points allowed since start of October. even last year - teddy b got a lot of credit but they beat Dallas without scoring a touchdown during that stretch.
  16. Final prediction: any given Sunday he’s a huge wild card. He’s late on reads, and not terribly accurate. Some weeks will be ugly. But he will occasionally hit the chunk play. Probably a 100-150 yards average kind of guy but occasionally a bigger day. even with small ball this team can win some games.
  17. Either he’s medically cleared or he’s not.
  18. the beauty of the search function, I suppose, though this one might not be obvious
  19. what about mahomes isn’t all of that already?
  20. I won’t say you are are cray cray (more to do with my pride than your sanity)... but of course guys that arent 100% can and do get waived regularly. For all we know he had an unknown cancer that was detected on exam (extreme example) or it’s a matter of the 9ers docs being stricter than the previous team and player, or maybe something the player never reported. no, you can’t cut a dude on IR but there’s plenty of ways a guy could be cut and fail a physical later
  21. The early freak outs were a bit much. He’s going to be a good kicker. im not sure you declare that the kind of pick that makes it a draft of a lifetime based on the low positional/financial value but I’m down for any day 3 pick that contributes as a deserved starter role
  22. Really running out of new topics to start, eh? I’m glad you aren’t letting it stop you.
  23. though after this week he may get more completions (11 career) than tackles (14 career) so that’ll be a step towards qb!
  24. If I drafted him as a high upside depth pick i would want to play him at his listed position. Should’ve addressed it with the league before the draft of the TE designation was an issue.
