  1. your contention is long fields and trailing doesn’t put more stress on qbs? Yes, I think favorable situations are conducive to putting a young quarterback in better positions to succeed. The successes are bigger and the mistakes hurt less. Id also say having a good running game keeping you in solid down and distance situations is nice. playing within a system instead of having to play hero ball is great for development.
  2. Other than tying to favorable field position, playing with leads, and coaching stability
  3. So you think if his coordinator was fired mid season and then head coach at the end of the season the super raw polarizing prospect would shined so bright that no organization would move on for their own pick to fit their own plans? Cool.
  4. Yea, playing with a lead and winning games isn’t helpful at all for a young qb
  5. it’s an odd parallel to compare Drew Brees or time Brady in their prime to a rookie developing qb for how a guy can develop. Are you under the impression those guys had bad defenses, bad offensive lines, and massive coaching instability around them early? Drew is the only one on your list that wasn’t handed the keys to a pretty good team out of the gate.
  6. Yea it implies that a GM is just looking at fantasy stats and not player development. Down 4 scores he might pick up a few more yards and a garbage TD but is unlikely to actually grow a ton as a player.
  7. I think a couple important things to keep in mind when framing it: neither guy was a slam dunk once in a generation prospect. Which means both guys could probably succeed in a great setting or flame out terribly in a bad setting. I don’t think allen saves anyone’s job year 1 so he’s likely getting shipped out if he goes to Arizona too. And I don’t think he’s a prospect that survives that either. personality - Yea allen is more likable. I’m not sure we look back at Rodgers, rivers, Ben, Brady etc... as particularly charming individuals.thats the better part of a generation of franchise qbs. even Russell Wilson’s had some questions about how he fits in with the guys. If you win, You win. I still think Rosen was a reasonable choice. I’m down to see where allen takes us.
  8. saints plan is to cycle through season ticket holders every 2-3 games based on limited capacity but also opt out. Seats not guaranteed to be equivalent to existing but I’d imagine they will try to keep comparable. You will get an email saying “these are your games and seats” at some point along the way essentially I would not bank on individual ticket sales or much choice in the matter.
  9. before kicking off his 3rd season he’s on OC number 6 and playbook number 5. Dudes got almost no chance.
  10. They don’t HAVE to pass a physical to sign. That’s more of a teams protecting themselves from paying a guy with issues they don’t know about.
  11. why is that shocking? He does editorial pieces about the league. He’s supposed to generally find stories he finds interesting; or more particularly wide cross sections of NFL fans find interesting. look around and tell me if you think fans prefer to read about humble process driven practices or dumpster fires?
  12. im not sure picking to cover stories that people find more interesting means that he is anti bills or slants against them because of it. its also his job to editorialize though, so opinion is expected. that said, unless josh goes down I think he is wrong here.
  13. I believe he said Peter king is picking the dolphins
  14. that’s an uncomfortable way to phrase that
  15. Seems like it’s either not the most efficient way or you may want to plan ahead better
  16. saints offered to have him signed by another team with more space and then trade a pick. Speculation it was the browns
  17. And when he’s fully out we will unfortunately probably end up talking about some sort of terrible melt down that lands him in trouble.
  18. I think teams are wary of his knee holding up long term after micro fracture surgery very specifically as a major factor
  19. I have a hard time seeing the pay a bad qb model being successful for them on a consistent level. Henry coming off a punishing workload misses a few games and they could sink from contender to mediocre quickly. that said, that a former coach of his and playoff contender scooped him up at essentially his asking price should tell those that think he’s not a weapon something.
  20. his Logan Thomas/Andre Holmes comments a bit much but if we traded for Benjamin not expecting him to succeed I have plenty of other questions to ask. Benjamin absolutely was brought in with expectation of being part of the “after” picture, not the “before”
  21. though anecdotally I just randomly pulled 2000 team rankings on average return allowed to compare to 2019 team with the lowest average return allowed was a full yard longer in 2000 the hIghest allowed was 3.5 higher in 2000 and in 2019 only 2 teams allowed 10 yards a return while in 2000 13 did. so there was a pretty substantial decrease across the range and would argue that actual returns got less valuable and ball security and not giving up long bounces from not fielding the ball are becoming more key with the actual return diminished
  22. honestly, a strong disagree here. Most football crowds are going to have some challenge with him but I think bills fans would be among the harder to win over. Which is silly, but such is life. at this point, with his development so broken after years out of the league, he doesn’t make much sense anyway though.
  23. It’s not that he simply wanted the last word with you, I think he actually needed it 😂
  24. wanted to. The word you were looking for was wanted, not needed.
