  1. I mean, it serves that goal so it’s a good mid way target
  2. You don’t see the upside in letting our young and talented but relatively inexperienced qb take on peyton Manning level responsibility?
  3. the storylines write themselves currently. who knows who the OC will be or what they want to do but there’s definitely a viable map to it happening
  4. touche. I wouldn’t have guessed it to be that high. But yea, even if he lost a step he could fill an existing role better than it was, while also adding additional wrinkles on top. a new coordinator with a little bit of an updated identity utilizing the 2TE looks could make for a fresh approach to stay ahead of defenses
  5. You make a jump in there. Could add gronk and give knox targets. if anything it’s probably taking away from beasley (or replacing) with short yardage chain movers, settling between zones and red zone…. But a heavy blocker. More two TE sets could be a wrinkle to jump start the run game too. in fact, I think he pretty well disliked everything but Tom and the rings. to come in and be a part of the mafia and have a chance to win seems like the best swan song he could ask for
  6. If the league doesn’t think it’s lateral, all beane could do is hold all the position coaches back until a new OC is selected and makes the call on who he wants. which could get spicy I’m sure daboll has a few guys he’d like to bring with him.
  7. being offered is not the same as being in the position though that said, I assumed his promotion last year was about putting him above the threshold in order to avoid surprises
  8. i believe he was saying running the operations of game management
  9. surely there are a ton of thoughts going through all parties heads and a variety of considerations being weighed. Each position has only been officially available for a few hours
  10. hes a position coach. I’d bet there are more than a few guys on that level that are much more comfortable coaching mechanics than building a system and managing people. It’s a bold assumption that everyone in the building wants to be the top guy.
  11. it could be he was all in on going to Miami with daboll and now he’s weighing a tougher choice for himself for a variety of reasons
  12. it has been upwards of 14 hours since the position opened. How dare he not pledge his allegiance yet. hell, he could’ve had the jobs ranked very differently than daboll did. maybe nyc is his least favorite but they gave him a monster offer. or he’s trying to figure out where his guys are for staying vs leaving - what type of staff he has vs has to assemble could be very different between the options now that it’s solidified. there’s a ton behind the scenes. These guys have families, peers, mentors, their own individual ambitions, compensation to sort out…. It’s not just josh vs Jones or Buffalo vs nyc or
  13. I doubt bass went out there with zero play call odds are he was told then it changed - perhaps because of the size of the moment the HC chiming in - and the audible didn’t get to everyone. it would be the first time I’ve seen this exact scenario but the possibility of a routine and regimented execution getting gummed up because the routine was not followed in a high pressure moment would not be a rarity
  14. it’s starts closing but isn’t shut. if you don’t pay them it is fully closed and you are hoping to reopen it
  15. or has been noted, daboll will have to work with the defense, the front office, the travel/logistics team, the press, the analytics guys and so on and so forth and having a guy he knows and trusts to have 100% focus on something he will be judged heavily on is beneficial. daboll does not have a super deep pool of guys to pull from that I know of so Dorsey has some special value
  16. Hell, could be their wives are best friends and he likes Broadway plays a lot. just was seeing a lot of fans harping on it being an indictment of our HC if he leaves. There are plenty of very reasonable, and less reasonable possibilities that don’t speak ill of Buffalo or McD though.
  17. right but if he isn’t actually ready, going solo isn’t a fast track to long term career growth either. It’s not always a sprint to create a successful path. we will see where it goes but I think there are a lot of considerations beyond “he doesn’t like McD” that could be in play
  18. it could be a good safety net for both parties. Daboll could sometimes take his eyes off the offense to build the full program and Dorsey would have a mentor to guide him through the learning curve of managing the whole unit (both players and position coaches, and quality control guys) plus play calling potentially etc…
  19. ive said it a few times: what if he’s not sure he’s 100% fully ready for full control? maybe having extra support is appealing to him as a first time OC
  20. reading a whole lot into a random tweet, sir
  21. Let’s be real - it doesn’t disappear into the ether for either party. And none of the plays are unique intellectual property.
  22. Ken Dorsey has an agent. id bet that agent is happy to tell people that there is an active bidding war. I bet he’d be glad to say that no matter what was happening
  23. a lot of success? I’ll buy “he’s shown a few flashes” but the dude is under 100 catches in 5 years for 9 yards a pop. ha - great minds, great timing.
  24. I think it’s a huge factor that is being neglected. Has to love josh as an asset - but if he isn’t ready to manage a full offensive staff solo (and also maybe additionally lose some of his trusted guys to daboll), rework scheme and play call solo, or revamp a playbook during the off-season solo…. It’s not hard to imagine he would follow his trusted superior for his next step instead of taking the better opportunity that lands 100% on his shoulders.
